We made a reservation 2 months in advance, were told we were assigned campground A and were only allowed 4 vehicles because the parking was limited and there was another campsite B also allowed 4 vehicles. The fee was $50 per night, with no accommodation to park a vehicle somewhere else if we needed 5 cars. The spaces hold 30 people; however 30 people will not fit in 4 cars! We had 20 people and made it work. We arrived to find another group had taken our spot, as site A is better maintained than B. The camp host did not check the group in or make them move. Site A has flat grass area for tents, B had huge prairie dog holes that an adult fell into up to their shin after dark. The other group had taken all the picnic tables (5 total....for 2 group sites allowed 30 people each). We took 2 back, and they were not large enough for 20 people to cook and eat. There were water spigots but no handles, so no water. Bathrooms were clean and had flush toilets. Stray reservation dogs were very friendly, but expected food and hung around while we tried to eat (without a place to sit). The parking area was large enough for 16 vehicles. So there was plenty of room to park. If they have a site reserved for 30 people, they should provide parking for 7 vehicles (assuming gear is needed), they should have 4-5 tables (6-8 people per table) at each site, they should provide a handle for water, they should fill in holes and maintain the campsite free of hazards, they should tell campers not to feed the dogs, or at least warn you there are packs of dogs roaming the area. We paid $100 cash and did not get $100 worth of value for...

5/5/2018 THE ROADS ARE TOO NARROW, A PLACE FOR PEOPLE TO PLAN A ROUTE IS NEEDED. MAKE A DIRECT TURNOFF TO THE CAMPGROUND ON THE WEST SIDE BY THE CANYON DE CHELLY SIGN PEOPLE TAKE PICS BY... THAT WILL CLEAR THE AREA BY THE AMPHITHEATER TO ALLOW THE TOURISTS TO TURN OFF FROM HOLIDAY INN DIRECTLY TO THE RV PARK PART OF THE NATIONAL PARK... FOR MORE TRAFFIC AND SCENERY. ITS JUST SPACE, EVEN DIRT WILL DO (IN MY PERSONAL WADE. CAD. OPINION... WE SHOULD CLEAR UP SPACE AS YOU COME INTO CHINLE... ALL THAT FLAT PLAIN CAN BE USED TO PARK RV'S... Once you do that... I guarantee UBER AND LYFT WILL COME RUNNING... :) #NOTSPONSE =^-^=
May 6, 2018 Its floods im worried about... People trying to all rush out of the park ALL AT ONCE and there is no where to park that many RVs with just the Bashas parking lot.

Read moreWe camped 3 nights in site #35 in our 30'TT in late April 2025. The staff were all welcoming, friendly, and busy taking care of the campground. The campground was about 15%-20% occupied. The middle loop has lots of mature cottonwood trees, which were just starting to sprout leaves. The other 2 loops have some trees, and some full sun sites. We found the campground to be remarkably quiet, well maintained, and with clean bathrooms with flush toilets. There was evidence that horses visit the area. There were two stray dogs who had a well-developed begging routine. They would go from campsite to campsite, looking for handouts. They were not pushy or aggressive about it. Our dogs are dog-reactive, so we made sure to keep our distance on walks. We had no conflict. There are goat heads in the campground. They are annoying, but easy enough to remove from paws and shoes (unlike sand burrs). We would consider staying here again. It's very convenient to Canyon de Chelly. We also visited Hubbell Trading Post and...
