Floyd EcoVillage — Hotel in Christiansburg

My daughter, 5 month old granddaughter and I stayed 1 night at the ecovillage in the Lodge. Can I just say perfection!! Beautiful property, clean, fresh rooms and we loved the Farmstore!!

We arrived late evening on a Friday, called in carryout at Parkway Restaurant, also highly recommend!!! Dined on the little table on the porch in front of our room.

Loved the fact that there were plenty of complimentary supplies, coffee, tea, soap, shampoo, etc...

We walked the trails through the woods around the property and explored the cabins, campground, event center and Farmstore.

We checked out around 10am and visited the town of Floyd. Breakfast at Outer Space, shopped the Farmers Market and browsed through the small shops and The Floyd Country Store and then stopped at Chateau Morrisette Winery on our roadtrip along the Blue Ridge Parkway to NC.

This was the perfect start to our 3 generation girls trip!!

We hope to visit again soon and will be sure to spread the word about this...

Had a lovely stay in the lodge. Property is beautiful, well maintained and lives up to the eco name. No issues with the solar power, plenty of (very) hot water, and we enjoyed walking on the trails, including up to the windmill. (If you hear a strange noise outside, only the windmill squeaking). Room #7 was spacious and comfortable, the room and entire property were super clean, the common area was nice and well equipped. We had all the amenities we needed for a good price. My only caveat would be if you are hot natured, beware during the summer as the lodge is not air conditioned. There are 2 portable units noted to be kept in the common area for guest use. We ran the fan (provided) the entire time for our 3 nights in October, but we were not uncomfortable. Should advertise this gem more widely! Many out of town folks we told about it were not aware. Hotel Floyd could offer it as an option when they are booked since they have the same owner. We will...

I booked room 7 and my email confirmed room 7. When I arrived, the door code wouldn’t work. I called and reached an unwelcoming person with a very nonchalant attitude. She questioned if I booked the correct room and honestly acted like I was bothering her with my call. She wanted to resend the email confirmation and did so, and now magically I was in room 1. I didn’t want room 1 due to the distance from the parking lot (one of us staying in this room has a physical disability) and the room layout. She didn’t care. She said nothing indicated my preference and I said my preference was the room I booked.

So while I was excited about visiting this eco village and exploring, right now I just have a bad taste in my mouth from how poorly I was treated...
