I went Thursday - Saturday, mid June, 2 nights. Site 31. This was an interior site of the campground so no direct access to the river like site 30 which I would highly recommend. My site had several decent places to put my 2 person tent, the best place had a tree leaning towards the tent so I opted for another location that wasn't as flat. It was a good site just not very private at all. The bathroom was a few minute walk away so not bad and they were clean even despite how busy the campground got that Friday night. The main issue was access to water, it was a solid walk to get to the nearest faucet just be forewarned about that and bring a water bag/cooler/container. There were no dedicated sumps for cleaning dishes which I also found odd. With 69 sites, many bathrooms and garbage cans it was well equipped to handle summer. The campground was clean. On Friday night there was a truck driving around selling firewood, during the week stop before getting to the lake and buy some local wood. There was a day use area within the campground to access the river. There are several trails close to the campground just a short drive plus possibly some dirt road driving which I found reasonably easy in an outback. I will definitely come back to this area but I might stay in the red mountain campground which is 10 sites but I didn't see water there, FYI, except the river. It is right off the road though...always trade-offs I guess. Hope this helps...

Read moreWe were excited to camp here again, because last year was great! We drove from north of Seattle, got there earlier than the noon check out time, and waited for available campsites to be posted. We were planning to grab one of the first come, first serve campsites. It clearly states on the reservation website that check-in is at 2 p.m. This is the same site that folks use to book their spots months in advance.
Little did we know, the rules don't apply anymore. The info online is currently false, or worse, still technically true, but is not being upheld by the campground host and the management company that employs them. So, online planners and travelers from afar: beware!
We discovered, after waiting for 1.5 hrs, that the campground was fully booked somehow, even the supposedly first come, first serve sites. Even while knowing this, the site host was not bothered enough to put up a 'Campground is Full' sign at the main entrance, which would have helped not just us, but other hopeful Friday afternoon travelers.
We luckily found the last spot at a different campground after driving around for another two hours, but our experience at Salmon La Sac was unnecessarily disappointing...
