10/10.
We did not stay in a cabin. We showed up for the 9am whitewater rafting excursion at about 8:35. They recommend getting there at 8:30 to make sure everyone has their waivers signed and to get fitted for equipment. I wasn't wearing my watch, but I'm pretty sure everything moved along on schedule.
We were fitted with life jackets, paddles and helmets before being given a quick safety speech. Then onto the bus to drive to the put-in location. One of the guides told some well-worn jokes along the drive and pointed out some interesting things along the drive. This helped to get everyone engaged and ready for the trip.
Once at the put-in location, we got into our groups and were assigned guides. I asked for "the craziest guide" and was told we needed to ride with Tanner. This could not have been a better decision.
We had a quick lesson on where to place our feet, how to paddle, what commands he would be giving and how we should respond. Also, what to do if (when) we fell out. We only had 1 person in our raft not fall out. If I'd have known the probability of falling out, I'd have been a little nervous, but it turned out to not be a big deal at all. I guess this is a decent time to mention that we did not get wetsuits. The water was chilly, but not bad at all. A wetsuit was definitely not necessary, and you'd probably look pretty silly if you had one.)
Once in the water, the real fun began. Tanner was an AWESOME guide. We also got paired with a fun group of ladies from a Church in Alabama. The combination of their personalities and the guide really made this trip memorable. We had a great group dynamic and it looked like our raft was working better than the others. Though I did overhear other people at the end saying that they thought they had the best raft. I'm pretty sure we did, but I guess we'll never know.
When we returned, our group agreed to split the cost of the pictures, which are priceless. It would have been kind of expensive to get by ourselves, but splitting them with the group made them relatively affordable. They don't sell individual pictures, you get all of the pictures that they took (which came out to about $1 per picture for our group).
Everyone from the front desk, to the bus driver, to the different guides were friendly and engaging. This could not have been a better first experience with whitewater rafting. I would HIGHLY recommend Bigfoot...
Read moreOur group of 36 recovery warriors had an absolutely incredible experience with Bigfoot Outfitters during our 7th annual Recover WILD rafting trip to celebrate National Recovery Month on the Ocoee River! From start to finish, everything was top-notch—professional, welcoming, and full of heart.
A huge thank you to the owner Trevor and his right hand, Warner, for going above and beyond to make our weekend unforgettable. They didn’t just provide excellent rafting services—they truly cared about our group. They even met us after hours and made sure we had lights for our Saturday night gathering, which created such a warm and meaningful atmosphere for us. That kind of thoughtfulness and extra effort makes all the difference.
The guides—Ryan, Charlie, Zach, Bryan, Trevor, and John—were outstanding. Skilled, knowledgeable, and fun, they kept us safe while making sure the adventure was exciting and full of laughs. Every rapid felt like a team victory because of their leadership and encouragement.
We also loved the two-night stay in the lodge and cabins. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and perfect for our large group. Having a cozy place to relax and connect the night before the river made the whole experience even better.
And we can’t forget Tom Tohill of Digital Ocoee, whose excellent photography captured the energy, joy, and memories of our trip perfectly. His photos are a treasure we’ll carry with us long after the water calms.
Bigfoot Outfitters isn’t just a rafting company—they’re a community. Trevor, Warner, Tom, and the entire team made us feel like family. We will 100% be back next year and highly recommend them to anyone looking for not only an amazing Ocoee River rafting trip, but also a place where genuine care, hospitality, and adventure...
