I had an amazing time here but it troubles me that the folks who run the place are not exactly "on top of things" as far as their lack of ability or willingness to hold up their end as far as their policy on folks bringing their own firewood. What I mean is, they make it very clear that you are not allowed to bring your own firewood and yet even after we paid for two bins of wood.. when we arrived, there wasn't any wood brought for us and we had to go buy some from the store so as to not freeze to death while making attempts at spending time with our kids for my birthday before calling it a night and all of us heading inside our wagons for the night. They refunded our money for the wood the next day and of course apologized but it still put into question, just how unprepared they were to make sure that we had the very best experience possible. Also, if you choose to use their bath house, there is a very good chance you will slip and hurt yourself. Our son in law fell while taking a shower in the bathroom/shower area. It concerned me that there was a lack of adhesive ducks on the floor. The blue tile is easy on the eyes but slippery when wet!
On a side note, I have some loved ones that live on the opposite side of the road that welcome valley village is located. The reason I feel the need to include this is as follows
Bears have been coming down the mountain. the reason why, wasn't clear to me until I knew about welcome valley village.
I know of at least one animal killed by a bear and one huge bag of doge food gone missing last summer. It is my belief that this particular family pet would still be with us, had it not encountered the bear on its way to it's final destination.
Do with that information what you will.. Once it was time to leave, we then explored the property and stumbled upon beautifully built cabins with jest spa tubs and one cabin has a hot tub outside. There is a pavilion with a smoker and a gorgeous tree with a plaque explaining that welcome valley village is in memory of a lady who obviously was the inspiration for this place, as it reads "her memory lives on in the lakes and streams" (perhaps Ive quoted that incorrectly). The words on the plaque had me tearing up and inspired me to pick up branches out of the road and remove trash that had either blown there or had been left by those who had been there before us. Overall, the passion behind this place is uplifting.
Oh and the fish in the (clear) water are HUGE!
Good job welcome valley village, my 43rd birthday this year was, in a word, memorable! Shame on you for not bringing the wood and forcing us to pay for wood when I live on a tree farm in Calhoun at Rodgers Creek and could've brought wood I already had copped and ready.
The wagons are amazing but would not stand a chance against a hungry bear. Next time, we will opt...
Read moreA wonderful experience! When you arrive, you are greeted by a gated entry; providing an immediate sense of welcomed security. Upon entering you then drive past a lusciously landscaped community area that is laid out with a basketball court, horse shoes, and an open field. It’s a small place, but the layout of the winding roads makes it feel like your private forest. You arrive at the cabin and your name is hung on the wall. Now you feel like this is home.
Take a moment and get your bearings. You see that it’s an open, yet cool shady space. There is a storage area for firewood and trash bins, both well stocked and clean. Drives and trails to all locations are graveled and trimmed.
Leave the luggage and gear in the car. Take a walk down to the river. It’s 100 feet, you’ll be fine; stop being in such a hurry.
Now say, ahh…
After a few moments of peace and silence, turn and look back from where you came and take in what is yours.
Now. Walk to the cabin and climb up on your perch. The porch with 6 foot swing looks very inviting. Your very well maintained and furnished cabin greets you with some delicious cookies. Couple of nice size rooms with a full size bed in one and a full and separate bunk bed in the other. Jack and Jill bath is clean and well stocked with towels. Living is open to kitchen and dinning. One man hot tub does take up a lot of floor space, yet could prove useful after a hard day of adventure.
Great unexpected finds in the kitchen. Number of Solo cups and paper plates are well appreciated. Remember, there is no dishwasher. Pots, pans and utensils are all good quality. All appliances, including the microwave, are clean and ready for use.
There are no laundry facilities on site that we found, and because you feel so at home you wish the beds were queens or a king. While the tub is neat, additional indoor upholstered seating would be great for rainy days.
Not enough good things to say. There are so many relaxing things to experience. Chat by the fire pit, nap in a hammock, or play on the swings. Welcome Valley Village is all about location and experiencing the out door world. It is set up to do so exquisitely as a couple, small family, large group...
Read moreIn general this was an ok stay, this is the third time we have stayed in this uint. Newer furniture than last time but not comfortable, bed mattress awful. Huge sink hole in middle. Couch too small no back support. Air Conditioning has been changed out for cheaper version, seems ok in main room, ok but not ideal in bed room, on /off noise, all night long. And the bathroom was not conditioned nor vented as before thus mold and bad smells linger, per building codes requires exhaust fan and heat. Overall cabin ok but I found half of operable windows open upon arrival. And a few open from top and not able to close, thus drafts and bugs, getting in. In past a few fire logs where part of the package cost, now they are extra?? And overall unit price has double since our last stay. In general had a nice weekend with wife, tried to overlook these items, but not happy with price vs accommodations. Seemed to be alot of additional look see, drive thru as well. Not as quiet and safe feeling as before. Gate was always open from our view. Exterior of cabin in need of repairs, deck rotten, sink hole on main pathway to deck. Fire pit chairs all rotten and not usable. Occasional bad smell, ?? Old duct work maybe has rodents, since not in use and traps outside messy. Totally could have used a spring deep clean inside and out. We did not see staff or have contact other than email and general txt if check in and check out....
