This was my third visit to Echo Island RV Resort. The past two visits were fine but unfortunately, our third visit we experienced will be our last - at least till management is replaced.
We called and made reservations on January 2, 2025 for spots we were planning on staying at in the beginning of August. That was 8 months in advance. We were staying with our friends and wanted our families to be able to camp next to each other. We asked for specific spots that best accommodated our families.
I had even called a week prior to our trip to confirm our reservation and sites numbers. I was assured we were good to go.
Upon arriving for our reservation we learned one of our spots had been moved and we were no longer camping next to the other family in our party. We went into the office to show our reservation email and explain we have had these spots reserved since January.
The older woman in the office was rude and unhelpful. She said we didn’t pay a lock fee for our site. I explained that I called in and specifically requested those sites and, had it been explained to me there was a lock fee for the sites, I would have paid it but was unaware there was one. I assumed by calling in January, making the reservation for both sites under my name, and requesting certain sites, that if a lock fee was required that would have added it to my reservation by who I spoke to on the phone. If multiple sites were booked under the same name as well, wouldn’t it be assumed those guests would want to be next to each other?
Nothing on my original confirmation email stated I needed to pay a lock fee to secure the spots listed as reserved on my email. The lack of transparency was very frustrating for our trip that had been planned far in advance.
We explained our frustration to her to which she responded we weren’t the only people who were upset about their spots being moved despite having reservations. Upon talking with other guests in the campground, it was very apparent, many other guests were experiencing the same frustration we were.
The check in process was frustrating and lacked transparency. The bathrooms were poorly unkept. Over half the pools were closed. The majority of the grass was dead. It was sad to see the campground is such bad shape.
Unfortunately, Echo Island RV Resort won’t be on our campground visit list. We honestly tried not to let these experiences ruin our trip. But it put a big damper on it for sure. Echo Island RV Resort needs look into their reservation booking process so it’s transparent with guests as well look into the management of the grounds itself. My hopes in offering this review is meant to be constructive so these issues can be addressed so other guests can avoid having the same...
Read moreWanted to spend the weekend close to home so family could come up, too. This place is PRICEY, but we were familiar with it because we stayed when it was Camper World and thought it would be worth the cost. We thought we scored an amazong spot, shady, roomy, away from the freeway, and close to the pool and bathrooms. The sites are actually really close together. Our picnic table was a few feet away from our neighbor's sewer line! And the fire pit was even closer to their sewer! So gross! We paid extra for a tent and a 5th person, which is insane due to the already high price. We had a lot of room behind us, where we set up the tent, and we're excited about that, but stay turned for why that didn't work out! We wanted to go swimming, but nope, one of the pools closed (poop happens) and the other pool was JAM PACKED!" OH, and ZERO shade at the pool. Staff came early afternoon and plugged into our electrical outlet! Why? To blow up a giant movie screen and speakers right behind us! Then they set up speakers and for hours they blasted music! We left to go eat elsewhere because it was so loud we could barely carry on a conversation! I did reach out to staff regarding the noise and they said they wished they had positioned us better when we arrived. Ya think?! Especially when they knew we had a tent! Our littles ended up going home because there was no way they could sleep with the loud music and then very loud movie. Music was from 6pm-9pm and movie was 9pm-11pm, then take down with trucks and noise as well! I was so sad my grandkids had to go home so they could sleep! We tried the RV as well and we were just too close to the speakers. It was awful. There weren't any campers "enjoying" the music and only a few showed for the movie. The noise was very inconsiderate of young families and guests. We should have been told at check in about the "situation" at our spot and offered to be moved. There is a Pavillion behind the pool that would have been much better suited for such an event. On a positive note, improvements have been made since it was Camper World. The pickball courts were fun! However, our over all experience left us with headaches and frustration. You can't enjoy being there being so disrupted for 5 flipping hours! We will not be returning. Go somewhere else on the weekend (yes they do this every weekend) and enjoy your surroundings, read a book, and be able to hear...
Read moreThis was our first trip to this property, and we were surprised by all that was there. The pools, the food truck, the sheer size of the place. Some locations in the resort felt more remote than others and we lucked out as to the spots we had. There is one area we were disappointed in, we had 2 families there and a nice grass area that was part of my camp. A couple of our friends kids decided they wanted to sleep out in a tent and set one up in the large area of our site. Within an hour I got a text from my credit card company informing me of a $22.00 charge on my card from the resort. We inquired at the office what this charge was since we prepaid for our site months ago. We were told it was for a tent....it was a little surprising cause it was so quickly after the kids put up the tent and whomever noticed the tent hadn't stopped and said anything, they just went back and charged the card I made online reservations with months before. The charge itself is not a problem, later I read the reservation email they sent and within the verbiage it clearly states there is a 10 dollar a night fee for a tent in an RV site, we had just missed this information. It was just a little surprising that whomever noticed didn't stop and say anything, remind us of the rule. Perhaps with a friendly reminder we would have taken down the tent...perhaps not...It just seemed a bit odd to just drive by and go place a charge on my card that was used months before. I didn't like the fact that they had left this card on file and felt it was ok to charge it without any conversation. I was never asked to have a card on file for incidentals. The way it was handled was just a bit odd. I will say the staff is friendly so it wouldn't have been a problem. Also if they are going to be this attentive to the rules please have them be much more attentive to the noise rules. From our spot we listened to the bass line of someone's large speaker all day long and then shockingly hours past the 10pm quiet hour. It was annoying at times, especially when they drug it over to the pool with them. I did notice that the rules state the loud music isn't allowed any time much lest well after quite hours. During the day was one thing, we all want to have fun and enjoy....but quiet hours are one of those important rules so we ALL can enjoy how we...
