Do not hesitate to book a stay at Shoshone Lodge! They're fully booked for 2025, but try for 2026! What an excellent adventure - my wife and I took our recent college graduate there as a celebration - the staff is fantastic, the ranch is beautiful, and the activities are amazing!! Once there, you ride just about everyday (everyday is totally an option) through some of the prettiest landscapes in the country. The wranglers are there to help, and all experience levels are able to participate. Our family went from experienced to beginner, and we were all accommodated with the perfect horses. You ride out to breakfast and dinners, and do day rides. Additionally, they take you out for tours of Yellowstone NP, white water rafting, and an excursion into town (Cody, WY) for dinner and the rodeo. The food is great, down home comfort food, sometimes served in their lodge (equipped with a bar) and sometimes a horseback ride away up in the hills at a camp they maintain. You're only a 5 minute drive from the NP, but the lodge itself is in the Shoshone National Forest, so the scenery is awesome! This trip is great for adventure, wildlife encounters (we saw grizzlies, black bears, bison, elk, deer, eagles, beaver, etc etc etc), fantastic memories, great fellow guests, and an amazing staff! Some standouts (and I could literally name all 30 staff members) - Mike and Betsy, the proprietors, made sure everything is perfect... they've been running the lodge for over 20 years and they made it a perfect stay. Mickey is the head wrangler -- a great guy who really was able to make everyone's outdoor adventures go off without a hitch. None of us in our party were very experienced horsemen, and he supervised the stock and the wranglers to make sure we had amazing and safe rides. Audrey is a wrangler who was with us every ride, including an all day ride into the mountains on our last day - she and Elise (sorry about the spelling?) took us out on our own and that was probably our favorite experience! Emma and Mia were fantastic guides on our tour into Yellowstone - very knowledgeable, and made it a fun time! Maggie was a great guide on our hike up into the hills and along the river! Madison was always a sunshiny presence, whether driving or as our bartender! Like I said, we could name everyone. If you are on the fence, book this experience right now! You will...
Read moreShoshone Lodge & Ranch was an incredible vacation for our extended family trip! This was our first time staying at a guest ranch, and it far exceeded our expectations. Mike and Betsy and their entire staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and accommodating. We were traveling with our extended family of 10, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that the needs of all of our family members were met - ranging from ages 3-75! They took great care of my 3yo daughter when she was too small to participate in some activities, and provided alternate options for my parents if they weren't up for a long trail ride, etc. The ranch property is beautiful and there was something for everyone. None of us had much experience horseback riding, and they got us comfortable on the horses right away making for an incredible week of trail rides - especially for our 8 year old kids who had never been on a horse before. All of the meals were delicious and fresh, and the kitchen staff accommodated even our pickiest eaters. The Yellowstone tours were incredible, the whitewater rafting excursion was an exciting addition, and the dinner show / rodeo were a very unique experience! We also loved spending time just hanging out at the ranch, playing in the river and the creek, doing archery, sitting by the campfire, and hanging out with all of the animals who my kids are still asking for by name. It was a magical experience to watch our young kids connect with nature and each other and have a quality break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life at home on the east coast. Could not recommend Shoshone enough, we hope to...
Read more⭐ Ultimate Wyoming Experience A Must Stay ⭐ Great people, breathtaking views and an experience of a lifetime. This review is long over due so no better place to start than with a little history. The lodge has been apart of the family since 1924 and was started by Henry Dahlem. He was the first sheriff of Park County Cody Wyoming & built the lodge by hand with onsite timbers. Mike Christiansen is the great grandson of Henry & Bertha Dahlem, Mike and his wife Betsy are the fourth generation to steward this historical lodge. There is no other way to describe our stay than amazing. We stayed two nights and since then a few things have changed as I understand it, now it's an all inclusive dude ranch package. The thing that remains are the breathtaking views and the memories made that will last a lifetime. The pictures we took as a family and the scenery can't be replicated in a studio. As you walk out of your cabin snow flocked trees await for picture making memories. We didn't get to experience the dude ranch package, but in the short time I got to visit with Mike you immediately know he is a stand up guy and he wants your stay to be exceptional. I'm sure the activities he has available and planned are no less. Normally I don't include family pictures in my reviews, but it's hard not to since people help give depth to what you are actually looking at and the set up for the shot you could take. Also some of the pictures weren't taken on site, but were in the near vacinity that add to the experience of what you can expect when traveling...
