This is one of very few lodging options in Collinwood. I stayed in the street level room and it worked well for my family and I. It had two queen beds and one twin bed. The furniture and room are old and dated-looking, but clean and well-kept. The room had a refrigerator and microwave, which was nice. We arrived late, which was fine because the key is kept in a lockbox.
Communication with the owner takes a bit of patience and persistence because there are three phone numbers. Two of them are cell phones for the two owners and the other is their house phone. They do not have cell phone service at their home. Once you get ahold of the owners they are very responsive and quick to contact you back when needed. (A note to the owners: I highly recommend setting up a free Google Voice number that will ring all three phones at once. That would greatly reduce confusion for guests.)
My sister is allergic to dogs so I was concerned about the “pets welcome” policy but the owner assured me that they stopped accepting pets in 2018 and have deep cleaned the place since then. My sister didn’t have any allergy problems, which was great!
We found a stain on one of the sheets and the owner responded quickly, apologized and brought a fresh set. I’m confident that the sheets were clean, but I appreciated that he didn’t want us to sleep on one with a stain.
Overall, I would recommend this motel. We had a very...
Read moreI came here while cycling the Trace in freezing December. The room is being remodeled and she didn't have a place for me. I'm giving this motel 5 stars anyway, because the owner not only made sure she found a place for me so I could be out of the freezing temperatures for two nights, but I also got to meet her family and friends and hang out with some truly down to earth great folks. I don't know when the remodeling is going to be finished, but if you're traveling the Trace and need to find resources, Joann, the owner, has got the information you need and all the local connections. I'll be back because I made good friends in Collinwood because of...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed here during our bicycle adventure on the Natchez Trace Parkway. We stayed in the upstairs where there was a full kitchen and two bedrooms, each with a private bath. We were even able to do laundry for free! The place was cozy and clean. Our bikes were locked in a small shed for the night, just below the stairway. Since we got there pretty late, not much was open in town. But Joanne the owner asked us what we needed for the night and for breakfast and went shopping for us at the Dollar General. She made sure we were...
