Cottonwoods RV Park in Columbia, MO was a great place to stay! Lots of room in their sites and so many amenities. #rvlife #missouritocolorado #cottonwoodsrvpark

I am writing this review based on the site we were given, site 67. The staff is very nice and visible at all times. The roads within the park need some attention. Our site was located in the second row and was extremely unlevel with two large dips on each side that caused us to pull into the middle of the site. This severely hindered our parking during our stay. I called the office to inform them of the dips in the site and the gentleman did come out and stated that he was not aware and that he had gravel and would take care of it when we left. We made him aware of the parking to which he stated that we just needed to work together. The sites on the second row are extremely close together and I do mean close. We did not sit outside at any time because the sewer connect for the neighbor is only several feet away and the picnic table had seen it’s better days. The pool was clean and well maintained. The laundry and bathrooms were very clean and the store on site is very convenient. There is a designated dog area that is also well maintained. We left 2 days early but do feel that our experience would have been different if our site would have been located in the first row where primarily Class As were parked. Those sites were quite larger and provided enough parking for your tow vehicle. There is also enough space between each RV so you are able to sit outside. Throughout our stay the Wi-Fi was non existent. I definitely think this park has potential but I always give honest reviews.

The good and the bad. The good points about this place are the grounds are very well kept, grass cut , trash cans emptied regularly, etc. etc. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. The store was clean and well stocked like most rv parks. Did not use the laundry or restrooms, so I can't comment on them. The electricity & water worked fine with no problems. They do offer free Wi-Fi buuutttt. The bad . Wi-Fi is signal is very strong, but also very very slow. Less than 1mbps. My 4G from Verizon was 3 to 10 times faster . Some of the slots might be a little bigger than mine , but I couldn't tell by driving past them . I was given a pull through slot and I have a 30 ft travel trailer & a long bed pickup and I just barely fit. The front of my truck is right at the edge of the road and my trailer is right at the edge of the road to the rear. One man actually hit another man's truck with the tail swing of his fifth wheel trailer as he was attempting to pull into another slot. The truck that got hit was parked and well off of the road. This park has some very tight turns for larger rigs if you are not careful. All in all it is a decent place to stay if only for a short while, but I would not really pick this place as a destination park. You only have a few feet in between you and your neighbor. My slide is not a very deep one yet it came within a foot or so of hitting my neighbors awning. I would stay here again but only for an overnight pass through.

From the outset, their reservation process raised concerns with their non-industry standard policy of requiring a 10-day notice for cancellations. This policy, as I soon discovered, served as a warning sign of their intentions to hold onto customers' money while offering limited options for resolution. It became evident that their primary objective was not to provide a fair and transparent service but rather to maximize their own gains at the expense of customer satisfaction.

Adding insult to injury, when my wife attempted to discuss our concerns with their staff, they not only exhibited unprofessional behavior but also acted defensively, as if they were being attacked. Despite my wife maintaining her composure (while slightly elevating the pitch of her voice, but never yelling or personally attacking the person on the phone), they manipulated the situation by leaning on diplomatic responses that failed to address the reality of their actions. This tactic of deflecting and avoiding accountability only further erodes trust and demonstrates a lack of integrity on their part. It's truly sad to see this behavior come from a "business".

When I personally reached out to express my frustration (and also notify that I will post my factual experiences online), the "manager" absurdly claimed that my communication was threatening because I suggested the possibility of visiting their premises to discuss the matter in person (they hung up on us). Thier response showcased a lack of professionalism and an unwillingness to engage in mature dialogue.

The "manager's" attempts to justify their cancellation policy under the guise of protecting customers are nothing more than smoke and mirrors. By allowing customers to reschedule their reservations while vehemently refusing any possibility of cancellation, they revealed their true motive: to retain customers' funds while offering a hollow option for rebooking. This self-serving approach contradicts their claims of protecting customers' interests and exposes their disregard for providing a genuinely satisfactory experience.

What troubles me even more is the realization that my experience is not an isolated incident. Other reviewers have expressed similar encounters, outlining the same deceptive policies, unprofessional behavior, and manipulative tactics employed by Cottonwoods RV Resort. It is disheartening to see a pattern of behavior that consistently prioritizes the company's interests over the well-being and satisfaction of their customers.

In their attempts to deflect accountability, the company may try to argue that we were rude or difficult to deal with. However, it is essential to clarify that we were hung up on before any reasonable customer service was provided. When my wife, understandably exasperated, questioned whether an exception could be made in the event of a death in the family, their response was shockingly callous. It became evident that the company's priorities lay solely in financial matters, as they confirmed their lack of concern for any circumstances beyond securing their own profits. I fully anticipate their rebuttal to my reviews to show how holy they are, but again, a diplomatic response to smooth over their reviews and make them always look right. What a terrible way to do business. If you look at the reviews left below, all are refuted to make the campsite look perfect while neglecting to remember they are in the customer service business.

In conclusion, our unfortunate experience with Cottonwoods RV Resort was tainted by their deceptive policies, unprofessional and childish behavior. Their inclination to play games, lean on diplomatic responses, and avoid taking responsibility for their actions only served to exacerbate my disappointment. I strongly advise prospective customers to carefully consider the consistent feedback provided by other reviewers and approach this establishment with caution. It is regrettable that a company entrusted with providing enjoyable experiences would prioritize such practices, leaving customers feeling...

So to the owner in response to Thomas Abbeys Review. I'm his wife. And had stayed there as well!! Now.. here is my question to you.. if we'we had gotten so many complaints, then why wasnt anything brought to our attention???and let us stay the full month especially if we had supposedly had "theft" complaints? Don't you think that would have been enough of a reason to make us leave immediately then to just move us a couple spots over?? Makes no Sense!! Nobody said no visitors past 10pm. Only that if they were to stay over that a fee was going to need to be paid and where they needed to park when anyone was to come visit at any time. Also, tell me again what exactly when were we loud? We don't even own a radio nor left at night unless my husband got called into work. And he explained that to your employee because his truck is semi-loud also with that being said, the complaints were coming from a drunk who had to be escorted out by the police, immediately and couldnt come back on premisis. The same day we got moved because we upgraded from one vehicle to 2 vehicles and needed a 2 car lot. Your employee said it was all good no big deal. But never one time said anything else about another complaint... From the remainder of the time we were staying there... Due to the lying alcoholic neighbor that had to leave, your employees response and bogus reason as to why you didn't renew us was I had supposedly went out the wrong way? Why would I do that? I stand by my husband because I seen it too, he was the only black man in the whole community, and everyone got along with us great! Even hang out with a couple of em and they thought highly of him and thought y'all was wrong for what you're were doing to us! And what exactly did your staff have complaints on about him?!? This is a 1st of hearing this. As many times as I came up and BOUGHT YOUR REFILLS on my tank for my Mobile Home and even charged an inconvenience fee of 5$ because we were needing your maintenance man to refill us because it's 6° outside and needed heat and was during your open hours of operation and nobody was doing anything but standing around at 2pm....nothing was mentioned to us about anything then. Or even til the moment we left. I don't appreciate how you all believe supposed fake complaints of us when what it all boiled down to was the fact that y'all personally didn't like the fact my husband was the one black man in the whole community after your other employees asked him what his race was, Thomas told him, after that day, he wouldn't speak to my husband no more.but yet still no word of any complaints but the bs excessive loud music playing at 1:30am, when we don't own a radio and your staff told us, they found out who was doing it and was taking care of them!!! I could go on and on if you...

I have been camping all my life, national parks to luxury private RV resorts, and have never had an experience as unpleasant as I just had at Cottonwoods. Horrible, unfriendly host. Yelled at me for my car sticking out on the drive while I was unloading my kids at our RV. I assured him I wasn't parking there, just unloading, but he was furious. I was trying to hurry, but my foot is broken! He yelled if I don't like his park and his rules, I could leave. I would have, if my husband hadn't already unhitched. I tried to drive up to the parking area he motioned towards, and he chased me down on a golf cart to yell at me, saying I was going the wrong way, and accused me of entering the park backwards!! No, I didn't! How?? I followed the signs!

Yesterday, my dogs pulled too hard on their leashes and jerked me flat on my face, hard. I was bruised and crying. I looked up from the grass and the host passed me on his golf cart without stopping to help. Awful, rude, horrible man.

Facilities: Spaces are extremely tight...no room to relax on our concrete patio. The RV beside us was literally extending into our site. Their power cords were right where we would have sat. We couldn't open our awning. We couldn't park our car beside or behind our RV, after paying a fee for a second vehicle. We had driven through the park a couple weeks earlier to make sure there would be adequate room, but we were assigned a short spot. We were told to park my car by the office building....quite far to walk with a broken foot.

Neat clean park. Nice looking pool. We didn't use the pool or game room though, because my kids were so traumatized by the host being ungracious.

We will NEVER stay here again. I give them two stars. Zero on...
