We stayed overnight after visiting the Dover Stone Church, and it was a delight. We were given a very warm, friendly welcome, and enthusiastic answers to my questions about where to go, what to see, where to eat, etc. The rooms are immaculately clean, comfortably appointed, very private, and really quaint. We weren't in the main building. We were in the lodge across the lot, which turned out to be perfect for us because it had beautiful views of the grounds out back and a lovely covered deck with chairs and tables to sit out and relax or enjoy a smoke. I agree with the reviews that take notice of the attention to detail and pride the inn keepers put into running their establishment. The lobby and breakfast room are open 24/7, and an enclosed screen porch to enjoy your breakfast when the temperature permits. The pool and hot tub are closed for the season, but I could see how well-maintained they are, and I look forward to coming back again in the warmer months to enjoy the rest of what this understated, cozy retreat...
Read moreThe Starling’s Nest room in the lodge had a VERY overwhelming musty smell, like being in an old basement. There were two small windows side-by-side at the front of the room, only one of which opened. So there was no air circulation at all, unless we turned on the very noisy air conditioning unit which was covered in dust. This bothered me since the room I had actually requested had multiple large windows according to the pictures online. There were a few dark black long hairs clinging to the bathroom door, dust on all the window screens, a spider web in the corner of the shower, and I saw at least a half dozen bugs (ants, silverfish, etc.) throughout the room. I absolutely do not believe this room was worth what we paid. It felt like we were sleeping in a musty, moldy basement. I would never stay here again, unfortunately. Perhaps the rooms in the main inn are better, but...
Read moreWe met other family members and stayed at the Inn on August 9-10, and had a great experience. Our room in the main lodge was very nice and cozy. Downstairs was a gathering room, it was a perfect place, with a very comfortable couch and chairs, where our families hung out for a couple hours. There was a very nice continental breakfast the next morning, I really enjoyed the fresh fruit and homemade granola cereal. During the day we took a trip to Lime Rock Park: The Road Racing Center of the East, The Kent Falls, and also went to to the town of Kent, where they were having a street festival. When we arrived back at the Inn, we took a refreshing dip in the pool, and relaxed before dinner. We had an amazing dinner, and our hosts, Stacey and Mark, were terrific! Later that evening, there was a huge bonfire up on the hill, which everyone...
