I love it when a hotel way exceeds my expectations and that is the case with the Hampton Inn Corolla. I was not expecting much when we reserved a room here but my goodness, was I impressed the moment I walked into the lobby. The entrance has a charming, seaside themed decor, high ceilings, and very friendly reception staff. From there, it's a straight shot to the beach. When I say this hotel is on the beach it is ON the beach. You literally exit the rear entrance, walk over a dune and voila - the beach. Even better, the hotel beach has a lifeguard on duty, which adds an extra layer of safety. Even better, the beach in front of the hotel is gorgeous (see photo) and not too crowded. As a triathlete, I was able to do some open-water training after consulting with the lifeguard about the water conditions. It's a great place to train for those interested. Upon returning from the beach, there is a handy sand-rinse hose and from there, you can quickly shower and enter the hotel's two pools -- one is a lazy river with floats and the other a standard family pool. Both pools are very clean and refreshing. Our room had a nice view of the beach (see pic) and was very cozy and well appointed. Again, I was not expecting much, but the room impressed me with its cleanliness and coziness. Breakfast was the standard buffet, but completely satisfactory and even slightly delicious (yes there is a waffle machine). The location is nice as well since it sits away from crowded Corolla and you can access a lovely trail across the main thoroughfare, which leads you to an awesome nature walk. I brought my bike, which allowed me to easily access Corolla, the other beaches, and the lighthouses. Following my rides, I was able to use the hotel hose to rinse the sand off of my bike; it was very handy. Even though this is a chain hotel, I never felt like I was staying at a chain. And again, I have to emphasize that its beach location is perhaps its best asset. Add to that the friendly, cozy vibe and you can't go wrong.

This is an awesome location! The hotel has a pool and lazy river with a separate children's pool in a fenced in area for safety so a mom can relax. An indoor pool and an indoor hot tub. It is on the oceanfront!!! There are only multi-million dollar beach homes as far as you can see on both sides of the hotel. Hot breakfast served every morning with bacon or sausage. Pancake grills are a hit and they have 2. We had a 1st floor suite oceanfront and we enjoyed the convenience of walking right out at 6:30 am to see the sunrise. We left our beach chairs on our 1st floor patio we brought from home. They have chair and umbrella rentals if you didn't bring your own. They have bike rentals. The hotel is clean. The room 102 tub had drain Issues the first of our 3 night stay that was fixed immediately. This is the ONLY hotel in Corolla, NC so you do not have many options this far north on the OBX. We were here to enjoy the beach for relaxation! We rested and stayed in our king size bed for 3 restful nights. The room is large with a sofa and large bathroom so you don't feel cozy. The room has a high ceiling with a fan. The staff were very attentive.

We made an appointment with Wild Horse Adventures for Friday morning 8:30 am and that is 3 miles from the hotel. They have the hummer trucks to tour 4x4 beach where the wild horses live. Worth the price for the hotel and wild mustang horse two hour tour!

Everywhere we went for dinner was understaffed and we were thankful for the staff who showed up for work.

We have to be patient these days with covid and everyone being understaffed. We were told that this far north there are no affordable housing and staff will not drive an hour from Kitty Hawk or Nags Head to work since they can work closer to home.

Also, this far north is where the road ends and you can drive on the beach (good luck) or turn around and head back because there are only beach houses no stores and sand roads. The town of Duck seems to be well stocked and it is about 7 miles south.

Be patient during busy weekends. One lane traffic is stopped at Duck because there are more restaurants and shops open. I guess that is why the call it TimBuckt II where we tried to have breakfast and dinner.

Have a safe and fun labor day weekend! The outer banks is a wonderful place to visit! It was our first time and we love it! We drove to Cape Hatteras National Seashore took the passenger ferry 70 minute boat ride to Ocracoke Island. Rented a 3 hour golf cart and toured the island before taking the 70 minute ferry ride back at 8:00 pm.

But, we stayed 3 nights at a historic B&B in Manteo, NC closer to Cape Hatteras for that day trip. Check in at the Cape Hatteras National Park at the entrance to stamp your national parks...

Made a reservation in June. It was a oceanfront room with 2 beds. We were told on arrival that the hotel was full and we were given a ground floor "Dumpster View" room with no recourse after a 7 hour drive. Luckily we got a small refund through Priceline as the hotel was not going to do ANYTHING. This hotel has major wear and damage, badly needs a top to bottom remodel, especially at their high rates. Pools are OK, 3 plus indoor pool and hot tub. The breakfast is cold and horrible, never well stocked in a small service space that is a crowded "food fight" for choices. Not happy with them at all.

In response to Gen. Mgr. Jeff, a few thoughts. If booking through travel sites like Priceline is limiting for the potential guest, and if there is a problem the guest MUST address it with them in regards to YOUR hotel, why do you use them? You said your record indicates we were easy to find, well we are not concealing our identity. Being honest and telling the truth about our experiences is not deceitful. We did make contact at booking, the Priceline agents and myself, we both spoke to.Glenn to avoid any misconceptions, both in June and before arriving in August, to no avail. Please do not blame Priceline in any way, the onus is on YOU and the hotel, they were helpful and great, even gave us a small refund for your thoughtless way of mismanaging our reservation. Another thought, you need to accept your responsibility, you blame guests, etc, anything but your operation for problems. You breakfast area is too small by far for that level of guests, spread it out. Food fight is a metaphor for crowded area that is not paying guests fault, accept your responsibility. We stayed earlier this year at the Hampton Inn in Fruitland Maryland and had NONE of these issues, they run their operation much differently. And their volume of guests... it was a massive little league baseball tournament and it was packed, they handled it with ease. Oh, one more thing, the toilet was broken for 4 straight days, broken on arrival, all your agents did was write up unanswered service orders. The night agent on the first night did bring a flush valve in, but decided to wait until morning, but nothing was done for 4 days. As soon as you get serious about your operation Jeff, and own everything about the hotel, good and bad, you will have an easier time. Potential guest beware, read the terse reponse thia GM left me on Trip Advisor, it's not even clise to...
