Staying here for my birthday was an epic fail!
My husband booked here for my birthday as it’s right on the beach we go to and it said it’s a resort. We’ve stayed at top notch resorts and this place isn’t a resort even though they charge resort prices.
About an hour away, my husband hadn’t received the email with our room or code as he was supposed to. When he called, they told him they had someone cancel our reservation because someone died? Totally baffled! After letting her know that absolutely was not correct, she said okay come on in.
About 30 mins later the girl calls back and says there is a maintenance issue in the room we were supposed to stay in so they were going to place us in a different room and we would have to go to our room the following day. (So we never unpacked , we just grabbed what we needed out of our luggage)
Upon arriving to check in, my husband, and I both asked the girl at the front what time we would have to be out the room the following day as he had Planned a full day of events and we wanted to make sure everything ran smooth. The lady told us everything was up in the air but there was no time frame that we needed to get out of the room we were temporarily put in. they would call or text us whenever the room is ready and we could give them an estimated time of when we would be back. We told her we just wanted to make sure because more than likely we would not arrive back to the condos until after 5 pm. Everything was fine.
Our room was decent, a little dirty, there was blood on the sheets and one our room towels had old blood on it also. I brought my own body and hair care products, but for those wanting to use the body wash, shampoo and conditioner, make sure they are filled up in your room as ours were almost empty. Also, this place really needs to address their mosquito issues on the property. We were eaten alive.
In the evening we went to check out the roof top , walked around the little place and walked down the beach ramp. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy very much Out there because the mosquitoes were just terrible. ( This is also not a ADA compliant ramp for those who might need it.)
The following day we packed up and went out to enjoy the day. Around 12 pm, the property manager calls and tells my husband we need to come back to the room and move our belongings to the room we are now supposed to be in so they can get the current room we’re in, cleaned up for the next visitors. He explained the conversation we had with the young lady at check in yesterday And she responded to him by saying you need to come move your belongings. He told her that was Impossible as weren’t close by and right in the middle of an event. Then he let me try and level with the property mgr & matters got worse. As I explained the check in conversation we had with the front, she said “well sorry for the miscommunication, come get your stuff.” I told her “we will be there when we get there” & disconnected the call.
She calls back 8 minutes later TELLING my husband THEY WERE GOING TO MOVE OUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS TO THE OTHER ROOM! Which of course infuriated the both of us.
There is too much to type that happened in the conversation with the property manager but needless to say, after trying to level with this clown, I had to request for the GM to call me.
The GM was so nice and respectful. Understood & heard us out. of course his manager did not explain the miscommunication between the staff on the grounds, but just told him we didn’t want to come back and pick up our stuff. We came to an agreement and we allowed his cleaning manager to move our personal belongings to the new room which was done with care.
Another situation happened that evening with the condos but again, the GM took great care of us so I’m not going to even bring it up.
Ultimately, our state was eh! We will never stay here again. I’m giving it more than one star because the GM was...
Read moreWhat an awesome place to stay. My husband and I spent 4 nights over the Columbus Day Holiday weekend at Lively Beach. The rooms are so nice, all new, very tastefully decorated in warm gray and blues. There are 2 full bathrooms and the views from the 3rd floor were spectacular especially the sunsets and sunrises which were breathtaking. (Worth getting up at 6:30 to see the sunset at 7. This was our very first visit to the Texas Seashore and we loved driving on the sand using one of the Lively Beach Carts. We drove about 4 miles on the beach till we found our spot that was both private and magical. We were traveling with friends who also stayed at Lively, and the guys decided to take a fishing trip in the middle of the night. They caught a bunch of flounder and sheepshead and took it to a nearby place that cleans the fish for you and even cooks it if you want. We cooked the sheepshead on our last night and had a delicious meal with a brown butter caper lime sauce that was to die for.
Jessica who works at the front desk was very helpful and answered all our many questions. We were able to easily get extra coffee pods and even got help with our suitcase since we were on the third floor. The resort sits in the middle of an estuary and as you drive towards the resort it reminded me of the wizard of oz, seeing it standing tall in the distance. As you got closer the fields were full of yellow daisy like flowers everywhere. The only sad part was that all the palm tree tops had been damaged in the freeze, thankfully I did hear that the palms are going to be replacing them soon.
Overall, this is a great place to visit and have some alone time to relax, write and read, Oh yes I was reading Nicholas Sparks his latest book called “the gift” which takes place in the Outer Banks. Lively reminds me so much of the outer banks in North Carolina where my family went for 30 years. Lively is great for families with small kids, or friends traveling together. I saw surfers, windsurfers, kite surfers and many people enjoying picnics and swimming. Lively has some nice common areas to watch the sunset and sunrises if your room does not get the full view like ours did- We stayed in 311 Maverick. There is a nice place to b-que but I suggest you bring bug spray as the mosquitoes hang out in the estuary, but some good bugs pray does the trick. On a positive note, having skeeters brings hundreds of dragonfly's that graced the air and is a rare treat to see so many in one area. I highly recommend a restaurant called Roosevelt’s about 10 miles at the end of Mustang Island. There is a Starbucks with the prettiest water view I have ever seen about 5 minutes away. Looking forward to our return and thanks to Gabby and Greg for all you did to help us choose Lively Beach. It exceeded our...
Read moreReality did not meet expectations.
Lively Beach Resort bills itself as a luxurious resort with a variety of amenities and services, and a commitment to excellence. Based on this description and pictures/videos online my fiancé and I thought it might be a nice place to host our wedding. We booked 2 nights mid week in July and paid almost $900 for the two of us and our dogs to stay in a studio condo. To be clear, I am not a picky person but with a price this high I have certain expectations.
Because of the price and the advertising I was expecting a cute boutique resort. That was not our experience. Within a few hours of our arrival we had cancelled our appointment to tour the facility and were discussing going home early. We only stayed because we didn’t want to drive the 4 hours home after we just got out of the car.
The gate code that was emailed to us didn’t work when we arrived. We drove in through the exit gate because it was open and stayed open for the duration of our stay.
The room itself was not luxurious. There were several maintenance issues, it was not very clean, and not well stocked. We thought there would be everything we needed to cook dinner but there was no knife and no seasonings or cooking oil. My fiancé had to prep our dinner with his pocket knife. There was an empty tissue box in the bathroom with no tissues, dirt on the walls, peeling paint, footprints on the floor, the linens had visible stains, odors and there were several other issues.
We had an accident with our bedding where it needed to be replaced shortly after arrival so I stripped the bed and called the office to ask for replacements. They did respond quickly and sent someone who picked up the fitted sheet, the flat sheet, the duvet, and duvet cover. In exchange they gave us a duvet. No sheets or cover. I asked for sheets and was given a flat sheet. Nothing else. We made it work for the rest of the stay.
The amenities consist of a pool that doesn’t have lights so isn’t safe to use at night. Two dirty barbecue grills, a corn hole game, and 3 roof tops with peeling decking. Not sure what the services are they describe because literally everything is DIY. Even taking out your own trash. There is no housekeeping.
As many others have said the mosquitos are insane right now and make it hard to be outside. I know this is how it is on the Gulf Coast, but between the mosquitos and all the other bugs it’s pretty clear there is no pest control.
If the price was half of what we paid and didn’t advertise itself as luxury I would give it more stars and say the expectation meets reality, but to say they are a resort and charge resort prices without delivering seems like fraud. I will...
