Unit 602: Not a pleasant experience!
We have stayed many times at the Seagull and it has always been the best. Not this time. At the last minute we had to switch units due to a maintenance issue and I guess we got the dregs. Furniture dated, mismatched, very worn. As if they came from various garage sales or free on the side of the road. The dishes, utensils, cups and pans were dirty with stains of coffee or dried food. The fry pan was cheap and so warped we could not use. When I tried to fry an egg, the egg rolled to the side of the pan in a messy glob and I gave up on making breakfast. The dishwasher is full of rust. The TV stand had debris on it, looked like shredded leaves? We were told the Seagull only provides 2 Keurig pods so we packed a ton of pods only to find the unit did not have a Keurig pot?!!!
The cost was $3000 for 5 nights and this was unacceptable, and unlike our past pristine and luxurious experiences.
Now for the Seagull: Not the same.
Since we were last here they charge $53 daily for beach canopies and you have to reserve and pay before 10am or you are out in full sun. We saw 3 sets of couples and several families that did not get a canopy and they shortened their stay because they or their children were frying in the full sun.
Thankfully I called Denise at the front desk where she snappily told me I had 15 minutes to come reserve a canopy. I rushed downstairs where several guests were scurrying to get a canopy last minute. This obviously did not make Denise very happy. When it was my turn in line I asked Denise if guests often were not able to get a canopy. “Every day”, she said, rolling her eyes with disdain. “We tell you this in your rental agreement” (Many pages of small print).
The view is amazing but this unit is dirty, dated, dingy. At the Seagull I felt treated as an unwelcome tourist versus a...
Read moreWe have been familiar guests at both the Sea Gull and Sand Piper for years with many other family members. My wife and I decided to take a quick trip back down October 20th for 3 nights, and was looking at rooms at the Sea Gull. We know that for the last 3 years major work is being done on the property and know about the noise and commotion. I booked a room on the 9th floor, 906L to be exact, and paid the deposit which is half the total room stay. After booking on their web-site I decided to call and verify there would be no work around our area. Well guess what? Working on the room right next door during our stay. I told the front desk receptionist this wouldn't work at all. I asked why the room would even show available and she said there not responsible for letting us know. Here comes the worst part of this. There were no more 1 or 2 bedrooms available except on the 1st and 2nd floor. I was not willing to book a room without a view. Anyone staying there know that your limited on seeing over the dunes. So I told her I just wanted to cancel. She said I would loose my deposit. I asked to speak to the General manager. She was out but I left her a voice mail to call me. As of now which has been 5 days, nothing. I have decided and told all of my family not to ever go back there. For someone who has spent in the 10's of thousands in room rentals with my other family members over the last 6 years at both towers, It concerns me that I can't get my $341.55 back. We love going to Port A many times a year and others travel and fly over1200 miles to join us too. Sea Gull has lost our trust. Just warning others that with all of the construction going on be careful on what room and area your booking and don't pay anything until your assured about the work surroundings going on. Not even sure I would trust what they...

We are staying in condo 806 for two weeks resting from a very busy summer. I just don’t know how we find these perfect places to stay! We found this complex through Google Maps then we dove into Sea Gull website. It was a lot of fun looking at the pictures of the different condos and just trying to choose one from another! Not easy as they have been modified and updated!
We choose this time to come since snow is flying at the ranch in Colorado. We have never been to this part of the world but we were so surprised by the great temperatures and the warm water. Yes we will be back!
I’m glad we chose 806 because it is beautiful and very comfortable! The kitchen is very easy to use and has most everything you need for your stay. The front deck window system opens up so wide you feel like the deck stretches all the way into the kitchen. This condo can sleep up to 6 people but I think 4 people would be so perfect here. The other two would sleep on the sleep sofa. There is nothing I would change about this condo. I would say that next time I come I’ll bring ziplock bags for the fish we catch and Saran Wrap for the ceviche we make.
Daily we are greeted at our door by the staff asking if we need anything resupplied in the condo. From fresh towels to soap and coffee filters to dishwasher soap. It’s a great service they render.
The complex has a great pool, amazing beach access (beach towels, chairs, and shays lounge are provided), washing machines and dryers, and free fresh coffee in the mornings in the lobby.
I really appreciate the staff and owners for providing high quality accommodations for us and it’s visitors.
