I stayed because of the other excellent reviews and glad I did. From the outside, it is an old motel but it is one of those times where you can't tell a book from it's cover. Because I went to the area to fish, I had suitcase of everyday clothes and what I wear when I go fishing. So, I had a fair amount. Being able to drive up to the door was great. There is one section where there is a second level but I requested a first level when I made reservations. I liked being able to open the back of my SUV and walk less than 5 feet to the room. It was a plus right off the start. The room had a king size bed, a kitchen table with two chairs, a very comfortable recliner and a side chair. When I made reservations, the lady told me the bed was soft to some people, but I certainly didn't think it too soft. I have a bad back and the two nights I stayed I slept better than I have for years and supposedly have one of the best mattresses money can buy at home. There was a small refrigerator, a microwave and a small coffee pot with coffee packets. There is satellite TV and I had no trouble at all getting on my cell phone or the Internet. ||The bathroom was very clean which is very important to me. The shower pressure was fantastic and water was hot and didn't fluctuate . ||Another thing I liked was the tiled floor instead of wall to wall carpet in the room. It was easy to see it was clean and when many people use the place as somewhere to stay when fishing and hiking, just think what might be on a carpet. The room was fresh and clean. There was a remote control for the heater and air conditioner. ||From the time when I called to make the reservation, to checking in and out, the lady at the front desk, I wish I could remember her name, was exceptional. I knew that I was arriving late and she hid a key for me because the office was closed. When I checked in the next morning , she was as friendly in person as she was on the phone.|| The rooms are decorated like a fishing cabin resort. My room had knotty log bed frame high off the floor and paintings and decorations for trout fishing which goes with the name. ||Cotter Trout Lodge is comfortable, clean and a very reasonably priced place to stay. ||Cotter, Arkansas is a small old town. It has one restaurant just for breakfast and lunch directly behind Cotter Trout Lodge. It was a terrific place for breakfast with friendly waitresses and with some of the lowest prices I have paid for breakfast...
Read moreWe booked this place through Priceline and the description might not be as accurate as it could be. They advertised creek view, but even on the backside overlooking the water...you can't see water. First, checking in was a breeze--you check in by calling them and they text you a code to the door. No keys to lose! If you have any issues they are super fast to come help. When we got there our code wouldn't work but they had us in in no time. We paid extra for a cot that wasn't there but not only did they bring it they offered to make the bed. Everything is home-like: the bedding is a miss match of quilts and blankets, the towels are all super soft and "real" towels, not like the thin cheap ones you often get in hotels. The beds were okay--not uncomfortable, per se, but I've definitely slept on better. The room had a big ac and the cutest fireplace type heater in between the beds. There was a heater built into the wall in the bathroom that was on when we got there--there was a tapestry hung next to it that was SOOO hot to the touch I dont know how it didn't burn (you can see it sitting sideways on the toilet tank in one of the photos). The mini fridge is tiny but worked very well, the microwave worked great and there was a coffee pot. The decor is awesome. The TV was soooo tiny but had a great picture. The shower had great water pressure but the shower head was so low that it only hit my upper back, unless I kneeled (and I'm only 5'8). We were on the second floor and there was a really cool balcony type thing with a cast iron table and chairs. Everyone was very nice and the place was quiet. Ample parking, and within walking distance to some awesome trout fishing. We will be back and I highly recommend this place. Love it for its cozy charm and awesome staff, not because you want a...
Read moreOne of the best places I've ever stayed, honestly! The space is beautiful (and HUGE) and the room we were in, a king-bed on the river side of the hotel, had a fridge, microwave, dining table, and one of the most comfortable recliners I've ever sat in. Lots of storage for coats and shoes, plenty of space to spread out, a beautiful bathroom, and very quiet. Even better, it was steps away from the fire pit and the trailhead for the trail that runs under the railroad trellis and along the river. I grew up in Cotter and this is a FAR CRY from how the space used to be! Plus, they let us bring our dog - not a small dog either! - and he felt so welcome too. But even more impressive than the space was the service. From booking to driving up and getting a call from the office about when we'd be there to checking in at the (adorable) fly shop, to getting a late check-out, to the firestarters left outside our door when I mentioned I wanted to maybe do a fire, Faith was so helpful and kind and just...the whole vibe was good. I don't think we'll stay any place else when we visit family in the future. As a bonus, the White Sands restaurant has one of the best diner breakfasts around, and certainly the best...
