Bike, Hike, Rest, Repeat—My Favorite Stop Yet
I showed up at Redwood Meadows RV Resort as a bike tourist with no real plan and definitely no idea how much I’d need a place like this. After three days of trails, buses, and shuttles, I was completely spent. Sean and Keri welcomed me with such kindness and curiosity, and immediately worked with me to upgrade from a tent site to a cottage so I could rest, shower, and reset without having to set anything up. That gesture alone meant the world.
The cottage was so nice and cozy, but I had just left that life behind, so I moved to the yurt the next night for a more rustic experience. The yurt was perfect: private, peaceful, with a fridge and microwave, but still tucked into nature. Plus, I always wanted to stay in one!
While I didn’t pitch my tent, I checked out the tent sites and they had great options and were in a space where I would feel safe leaving my bike and bags to go on a long hike—which I can’t say about most places. The whole campground felt grounded, welcoming, and respectful.
The rest of the grounds are just as well kept—clean bathrooms (cleaned multiple times a day!), laundry, and a peaceful atmosphere. Sean and Josh were incredibly generous with their time—sharing suggestions for hiking, biking, and running routes, and even offering to drive me to a trailhead so I could hike back. They also managed to extend my stay even when things were nearly full. Just above-and-beyond hospitality all around.
And then there’s Keri—her travel stories alone are worth the visit. She’s full of insight and inspiration, and she may convince you to buy a tiny home before you leave. There’s a whole little community here with RVs, campsites, a yurt, cabins, tiny homes, pickleball, and a charming cafe across the street (open till 2 PM). Just a heads up—if you’re on foot or bike, food options are limited after that, aside from a market/gas station next door.
You’re not camping within the Redwoods like at Jedediah Smith Park, but you’re right across the street from the same breathtaking views and incredible trails—without the months-long reservation process or the lack of amenities.
This place was exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it. Huge thanks to Sean, Josh, and Keri—I’ll be back, whether it’s next week...
Read moreDo NOT stay here! My wife called and reserved a spot the day before we arrived for a two-night stay. She was given a price of $45. She asked if Verizon service was good. She was told excellent and they also had internet.
We arrived at the day scheduled at 3:15pm. A sign on the office said they were at lunch and directed us to take an envelope on the side of the building. There were several envelopes. None with our name on it. As directed, we grabbed one of the envelopes and set up on the site.
Later that afternoon my wife went to the office to complete the paperwork, and they said we parked in the wrong spot and asked us to move. When we refused, they proceeded to charge us $55 for each day. $10 more than promised. Since we were already set up my wife said OK and paid the bill. So, they basically did a bait and switch.
Verizon service worked but only as extended and 1Ă—. This gave no data access at all. Verizon service at 1x will only work for voice.
They promised Internet service. Once I connected to the service, the connection would drop every 30 seconds. Totally useless.
The next morning, I tried to go to the office to notify them that I would be leaving, and I wanted a refund for the second night. Again, there was nobody in the office. So, I called the number listed on the door and talk to a lady who said she would refund the second night. Then at the end of the conversation she said that she would need to verify with her manager. So, I left without getting a refund. The manager called the next day and told me that would be unlikely would get a refund as the park has a non-refund policy.
Again, I was only requesting a refund for one night not both and still agreed to pay the additional charge. The manager then called me back later in the day and said that they will not refund, so I am going to fight the entire charge through my credit card company. I also intend to post this on every social media site available.

Read moreGreat location for those that have trailers/rv's too big to stay in Jedediah State Park Campground or those looking for full hook-ups.
Sites/setting: We stayed in site 14. Originally, we wanted a site that had a wooded background rather than a community yard so was wanted something in 2-20 based on the map. Sites 6-12 have the ideal wooded background. In those sites you get a larger "yard" before the woods. Our site had a smaller yard so we didn't have as much space to spread out. Site 16 is probably the worst one in that section because it backs to overgrown brush. Sites in A Row and E Row are closer to the highway than the map looks and seemed to have a lot of highway noise. If we go again we would try to get D25. You get a pretty nice grassy spot not too close to others.
All sites seemed to be rather easy to get in and out.
Site pads are gravel and our site was not very level.
The sewer connection on some of the sites doesn't work well with the standard 90 degree connector. Ours did not fit and we had to hold the hose when emptying the tank.
Amenities/Utilities: Cell service was hit or miss. There was wi-fi available (you need the passcode).
The campground doesn't have a store, but there is a gas station/store right outside the gate that carries almost anything you would need including propane.
Pretty good little diner a walk across the street that serves breakfast and lunch.
There was a laundry facility, but we didn't use it. Bathroom was as expected, but you do need tokens for the water to take a shower.
Dog play area is not fenced. They do provide doggie bags in multiple locations.
Activities: No playground, but many kids were running and playing in the lawn areas. There was also a basketball court.
Our little ones loved riding their scooters around.
Overall we would stay there again. Not a bad place with a great location to explore the...
