Hiouchi Visitor Center — Attraction in Crescent City

I tried to go to the visitor center on three different occasions and was not successful. It seemed my first attempt was during an inventory. At the visitor center itself. So during this inventory the visitor center was closed during what would have been normal business hours. From what I could tell they would or should have been open until 4:00 p.m. I was on site and at the front door at 3:30 and it did not appear anyone was around nor was the visitor center open. I looked and could not find an explanation so I was just assuming since it may have been a slow day everyone took off early?

You must stop here! It gives you the times for the current Ranger tours which were twice daily when I visited in July. The tour began at Simpson Reed Trail just down the road on Walker Road. The whole park was breathtaking, the staff at the visitors center was incredibly friendly and informative and marked on our map where we could see the best old growth trees.
