Value economy hotel with a 3-4 star water front location and a private balcony/patio. The rooms are old and a bit dated but you're paying for the uniqueness of this cool little gem. Do not go in with the idea that this is a 4 star hotel but instead an economy hotel on the water. We found our room to be clean enough for what we were using the room for. The property felt safe and the other guests staying at the property were pleasant (some snowbirds). It's right on the water near manatees and in a very beautiful surrounding upscale neighborhood. You can rent kayaks or a pontoon or take a manatee boat tour. There's a fun restaurant on site and the hotel is dog friendly (for a fee). We visited here to watch the Christmas Boat Parade pass by and we had a front row seat from our balcony. The pic I included is from our private 2nd floor balcony which also provided an awesome backdrop for one of our best family pics. The shower was adequate and the TV worked with no issues. Side note: there are a lot of bugs in Florida especially near water so if you open your sliding glass door to the patio and keep it open, they're going to fly in. We only stayed for a single night but wish we could have stayed longer.

I came here for the sake of adventure and I wasn't discouraged by the reviews, but it turned out to be a little too rough. I didn't require much from this hotel as I was going only to sleep here while exploring around and I am usually not picky, but this is too Spartan. I would be okay with how outdated it is, but it's just too many things which were uncomfortable. Bathroom fan makes such loud noise and vibration that it's actually scary. Shower drainage was clogged. To figure out how to turn on the TV was a rocket science. Then that tv just turned itself on in the middle of the night. I had a neighbor who was (I guess) staying there for long term and the first night he was watching tv non-stop through the whole night while sound insulation between rooms is so poor I literally could hear the dialogs. The second night he was listening heavy metal music non-stop and was getting out to smoke on the patio. And there is nobody you can complain to because the front desk is closed after 9pm. Yes, view and location was nice and staff was friendly, but I would not stay here again and I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a romantic get-away for a couple. It also should cost less than what they charge for it.

This is an old building…cinderblock walls, 2 stories…BUT right on the water. When I called to book I asked about the ‘reduced rates’ was told they were to be taken over and redone by Marriot…but that it hadn’t happened yet. Front desk staff nice, but no communication between them and the restaurant. We went for supper to find them closing early…because ‘they’d been busier than ever, staff needed a break so they’d come back the next day…and it’s just so hard to get and keep staff.’ I get that…but if you have no customers…you won’t need to worry. Anyhow..drove back into town and found and other place to have dinner. Back to the room; door hard to unlock/open, terrible bed, noise a/c, noisy neighbours…BUT Sunset when we arrived was nice even better…the misty foggy morning on the water…right out in front of the room. Walked out to stand on the concrete retaining wall…watched the birds AND>>?> The Manatees!! That alone..totally worth the $.

If you read no further, this is old and neglected.

Other than location and nice enough staff, there is nothing redeemable about this hotel. As far as room, upkeep or amenities, a comparable hotel would be a red roof inn or roadway inn with about a 2.5 customer rating.

The first room the toilet was not bolted and leaked all over the bathroom. The second room had just been smoked in and after we went to the third room the front desk had gone by to open the doors to air it out for the next unsuspecting customer. They will say we are 100% non smoking and no one smokes in our rooms. It's not true because they attract nasty smokers and smoker's will always smoke where they are not supposed to.

Thread bare sheets and bead spreads, the kind you would expect at the Bates motel. Neutrogena soaps. Poor plumbing fixtures. Old furniture. Not a clean smell anywhere in the hotel. Cheapest TVs you could buy directly from China where the sound is so bad you can't understand the audio or words. No toilet roll holder. Bright lights right outside your door attracting thousands of bugs which go right in your room at night. AC can't keep up with Florida heat above 90 or when cooler at night. They still use keys and not secure keys but the kind you can make at a key machine. Fridge with a thick crust of ice in undefrosted freezer. Ice machine requires quite a walk to the other side of the restaurant. Just miss the poor excuse for a breakfast and go to breakfast Station.

The front desk excuse is "we have been here for a long time." Yes nothing but cheap patches to the property, everything else been there since the 1970s and rode hard. Things seem clean and the cleaning lady from Venezuela does a good job with what she has. All hotels in this area are bad, but this is near the bottom. Consider Best Western or Hampton but plantation is not much better than here. Take it or leave it attitude here and the hotel may have had only 2 to 4 rooms occupied while I was there. They don't seem to care or get how bad this place has become. I never asked for a $10 discount for the first days trouble. No accommodations for no room service even with the please clean room sign on door...

We stopped here for the first time three years ago and now make it a yearly visit. If you require upscale, high class lodging, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for peaceful, comfortable, inexpensive lodging and don't mind the "run-down" appearance, this is it! The hotel staff members are extremely friendly and accommodating. The staff at Margarita Breeze (the on-site restaurant) are amazing and after just a day or two feel like family. The manager, Melissa, is one of our favorite people to see as she is always extremely friendly and attentive, making sure that every need is met at all times. On top of everything else wonderful about this place, the food is incredible!! Definitely a must visit if you are in the area. The first few times we came, we went on the manatee tour with Capt. Mike's river cruises (also on-site). This is also a must-do!! This trip, we were very saddened by the news that or favorite Captain (Captain Scott) had passed away and instead of taking the guided tour, we rented a pontoon for the day. None of us had ever driven a boat before and the staff was very helpful in making sure that we could operate the boat safely prior to us leaving the dock. Everything you need for a fun day on the water is available for sale or rent, including fishing gear. We had a blast and even got the chance to swim with a manatee and her baby. This is one of my top five vacation destinations and will continue to be a yearly visit for as long as they...

The view, amazing...the restaurant and staff wonderful...bar on the pier and staff delightful...the room and building? Need to be CONDEMNED! Filthy, dirty, delapidated, rotten wood, filthy housekeeping, m&ms and bottle caps under bed upon arrival...grout black from not being clean and rotten wood next to shower and painted over to cover it up?!? Dirty fingerprints everywhere on all doors and windows, Wore my shoes at all times and did not want to walk on carpet...had a rash all over my body after I left!!! Stairways bowing wood under feet while carrying luggage, holding onto rusted railings, cracked glass windows... Entertainment in restaurant great, charm of vintage looking 1960 style building quaint but NO Reno since 1960? IS WRONG! and misleading...in the photos they post to entice you, those pics of the rooms I’ve seen are not what I paid for...they have had violations in the past and nothing has changed...look it up;/ Being close to the Manatees tour is nice, but 3 minutes away is another hotel that for $25 -$50+ more a night I can guarantee will not get you a skin issue, have to wash all your clothes in hot water, bag your suitcase and leave it outside, or throw everything out...etc. I know weather in this state can create issues but that is what insurance is for! I would be willing to pay more to be that close with all the convients of Capt. Mikes Manatee tour(that was awesome and the staff “funny” and professional ) HOPE THIS...
