Read moreMy wife and I have been meaning to try this place for awhile. We were a little put off by the ambiance when we first walked in. Expecting a Japanese restaurant, we were surprised that it looks like a breakfast/lunch spot inside. We ordered spicy edamame (good) and beef yakitori (not awful but incredibly bland.) I ordered some tuna sushi (very good) and my wife got an avocado roll with peanuts (weird.) We both love ramen and she ordered Tonkotsu. It was REALLY bad. I can't put my finger on what it tasted like, but it smelled like dirty dish water. We never really complain about food in a restaurant, but the server asked how it was and she told her it wasn't good. She took it away and then came back in a couple minutes still holding the soup. She said her manager would take 10% off the dish since we didn't like it. I've probably eaten at 1000 or more restaurants in my life and I've never been offered a discount on a dish I didn't like. Even crazier is the fact that the manager (or owner - I don't know) didn't bother to come out and talk to us. When the bill came the ramen was discounted 20 percent, so about a 3 dollar discount. So we won't be back, the sushi was good enough that I would have been back to try a few other dishes on the menu, but no chance now. I'm not even mad about it lol, I just think it's an increble way to run a business and it's actually pretty funny. Server was very good, by the way, not her fault. Sucks she has...
Read moreOrdered simple rolls to test quality, every time I go to get sushi. Spicy tuna and yellowtail, nothing difficult right? First tuna should not have a fishy smell or flavor unless unproperly kept. But im not here for the rolls. This place is passing off 6 slices of fajita beef that was par boiled for $11.....The beef was pale tan and barely raw, covered in what tasted like ponzo. Tataki is SEARED whole meat cut AFTER cooking, raw in the center with a beautiful thin cooked line encompassing the meat.
We were advised that the sushi "chefs" prefer larger groups and will serve them first. Us, we waited 40 minutes for 4 rolls. Others had multi courses before we got any sushi. I get it was a friday night, but in the industry you know those are the busiest times.
I can't fathom why this place has 4.6 stars. Im thinking the clientele are oblivious to what good sushi tastes like.
Edit: after owners comment.
In no way did I verbally assult anyone or the chefs and that is slander to my character. I will be calling this location...
