As a fan of the Wyndham Rewards program, I do my best to stick to Wyndham Hotels when travelling. Because I needed a centralized location in North Alabama, I chose the Days Inn in Cullman, Alabama. What a terrible mistake! When requesting a weekly rate, I received a rate just over $40 per night including tax. While the pricing seems reasonable, what I got for the money is not only lack luster; the ownership should be embarassed. This hotel looks like a left over from the 80's in awful condition. Some old things are charming, this is simply a run down dumpy hotel that makes way too much money due to its location. The promised pool is completely empty, the breakfast is a protein-free buffet of carbs. Don't even bother to go down if you happen to be gluten intolerant because unless you can breakfast with an apple alone, you are out of luck. While I was warned not to allow anyone to smoke in the non smoking room that I requested while I was checking in alone, I was more than a little disappointed to find that the room smelled like smoke and my supper fancy polyester bed covering had burn holes in it. The pillows are dreadful and the mauve curtains should have been destroyed ages ago particularly with black and tan carpeting, it looks a complete mess. Since I had no phone signal (yes, It is 2016 and the location is next to the interstate) I had to use the room phone.... the very sticky room phone, repulsive. The room didn't even have an Iron! The water quality in the hotel is the worst I have ever seen; it positively reeks of chemicals. As if all of this wasn't enough, the blue tiled bathroom smells of cat urine. In all fairness, this could be worse but definitely not worth the $69 they charge on a nightly basis. I must point out, however, that the hotel staff are wonderfully pleasant people and deserve a better...
Read moreDefinitely not the greatest experience. Booked according to the pictures online through Expedia. What we found was NOT what I expected. Tried to cancel the room as soon as we arrived and saw the reality of our mistake in booking this place. The lady at the front treated me like I was crazy and refused to cancel the reservation stating that they were fully booked (all other hotels in the surrounding area were fully booked as well apparently), and that these were the cheapest rates in town. All, I found out, were lies. I called around out of curiosity after seeing the room for myself and realized that not only was there availability at surrounding hotels, but they were both cheaper AND nicer rooms. Also, she booked multiple people the next morning for over $100 less than what we paid each night for our stay. I won’t even begin to explain the room, but picture blood on the ceiling, walls banged at every end, extremely dirty all around, a smell that would send anyone running, and a shower that took a TON of courage to use. To say the least, we almost ate the entire cost of the booking just to escape the nightmare. The only benefit of the location was how close it was to the entertainment venue, otherwise, not even great location wise. Possibly the worst part of this was the realization that the much nicer places (actual hotels not a MOTEL) we originally passed up were about the same price. Admittedly, we got scammed. Worst place I’ve ever stayed. Good luck here if you...
Read moreI was going to be in this area for 3 days and decided to just find the cheapest place I could. From all the reviews I was anticipating the worst. I have to say I didn't mind it here at all. The place was clean and every day they replaced the towels. The breakfast is excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, cereal and coffee and juice. The orange juice actually tasted like orange juice unlike some places I've stayed that were much pricier. I slept soundly and didn't notice any noise from other units. My wife carries headphones with her so she can listen to music as she drops off to sleep so she didn't hear anything after she turned on the music. All in all it was a good place to get a good night's rest. Also, the beds were very very comfortable. They were also friendly to check in although I did have to use the window instead of entering the business. There is a covered hall there but it was an 85° day so the hall was a little warm but I was only waiting for about 5 minutes for other people checking in. If you're staying in this area and want a good value for your money for a good night's sleep, this is a good place.
I have stayed in places where the sheets have been sown from being ripped, cigarette burns on the bathtub from where people sitting on the commodes have just let their cigarettes lay there on the edge, and beds that felt like evil torture devices. This place is worthy of the title Good Motel. I will be staying here next time I...
