We just returned yesterday from our stay at Baladerry Inn. What a beautiful B and B! The property is gorgeous with a huge open grassy area where many deer visit daily. The rooms are quiet, clean and smartly decorated. The main house has all you need and more: Keurig coffee maker, fresh baked cookies, cold drinks, ice and ice buckets, two cozy indoor sitting areas and probably even more I'm not remembering.
We stayed in the Daisy room. It's country charm made for a relaxing stay. The shower was updated and the bathroom very clean. The french doors open to a view of the grounds and a sweet little patio with chairs and table to enjoy the beautiful view and a nice bottle of wine.
The owners, Judy and Ken and their employee Connie were all very personable and welcoming. Judy gave us a personal tour of the house, telling us all about it's Civil War history. The breakfasts were delicious and fresh; a great way to start each day. The weather was perfect for al fresco dining on the patio at the main house. We spent a lot of time on the patio at the main house and off of our room relaxing and visiting with other guests.
Even though it feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, the property is only a mile away from the Gettysburg Military Visitor center and a couple of miles from the heart of downtown. I actually walked down one morning.
The Baladerry Inn is a true gem. The rates are very reasonable. I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway or just a...
Read moreAbsolutely top notch B&B. Judy and Kenny got the routine down pack and I have absolutely zero complaints regarding any aspect of the stay.
Upon arrival, snow began to layer the grounds of the beautiful, quiet, and historic property. The owners welcomed us like we were long time friends. Kenny showed us the main building, gave us some info about the towns many attractions, and showed us off to our room (The Shamrock) in the carriage house. The room was small, yet extremely cozy. Fireplace, modern bathroom, overall more than comfortable. Off we went for dinner and drinks, and came home for a solid nights rest.
The next morning we walked down to the main building where the smell of fresh breakfast and coffee overwhelmed my senses. The 3 course breakfast was truly the best breakfast I’ve had in a LONG time. Judy certainly knows what she’s doing! After breakfast we cleaned up the room, loaded the Jeep, and headed back down for check-out.
Overall this place is a perfect bed and breakfast. If you’ve had bad experiences before with B&Bs, you won’t have one here. I can’t compliment the place enough. Upon checkout, we chatted with Judy about life for a few minutes, purchased an AWESOME hand spun Baladerry Inn coffee mug, and she sent us off with a very motherly hug.
We will certainly return ! And recommend them to anyone traveling to Gettysburg. Not to mention extremely reasonably priced. But be sure to tip these wonderful people! Thanks...
Read moreI recently stayed in the Shamrock room in the carriage house at he Baladerry Inn. This was my first experience in any sort of bed and breakfast and I was just completely in awe of everything. The Inn is stunning with such a sad but important history, and for those keen on the history and paranormal of Gettysburg, then this is the place for you. Everything was clean and smelled wonderful. Though it was built in 1812/1830 it is still modern enough to please what we like and expect as a present society. Judy was so kind and gave such a pleasant tour filled with information. She also whips up a mean 3 course breakfast that is just so dang yummy! The lady who helped serve the breakfast was also an incredible person who is so warm and friendly (even though we ran her crazy by how much orange juice we drank). I enjoyed my stay here fully even though I had some extra visitors knocking and tapping and whispering throughout the night. Full disclosure, a lot of people consider this place to be one of the most haunted buildings in Gettysburg, but you know, it's GETTYSBURG! Despite my experiences there was a sense of calm and peace everywhere we went. So no worries on that end! Please make it a point to stay at the Baladerry Inn, especially if you are planning on staying more than a night in town. It is the lovely, quaint, and just far enough away from the bustle of town to make you feel like you are in your own...
