This was a very fun way to experience a Gettysburg field hospital. The clothing, the "artifacts," and people were great. Our favorites were the photographers, the smoke house, and the police. Don't miss those!

Docents were a little hit and miss, but overall were very entertaining. A couple groups ignored us when we walked up (as they were engaged in conversation amongst themselves), and others were a little overzealous...I thanked one for his time because he'd been talking a long time and my kids were getting antsy in the heat. He then informed me very sternly that he wasn't done and continued to talk 😂 Overall a very fun experience (and a good lesson to my kids about social awareness)!

Tip: We bought the friends of Gettysburg membership so we wouldn't be rushed by doing the museum and this in the same day. Plus there are a lot of other...

I have been going to Gettysburg for 25 years & this was a new adventure for me. The Spangler Farm barn was a field hospital & in the future there will be even more to see as they remodel the family home. An interesting aspect of the visit is that they give you bio cards of 5 people there: doctors, nurses, wounded soldiers, etc. I knew Gen. Armistead died there, but was able to see the summer kitchen where...

Listen my family has been visiting Gettysburg for over 30 years. Visited this location for the first time 7-2022 and my wife and I were truly amazed. If you are new to Gettysburg or have visited many times this is a must see. The volunteers that inform folks in a way that TRUELY takes you back. When visiting the visitor center ask how you can take this tour. It's the best free, best tour you will...

Great place to learn about field hospitals and treatment for the wounded soldiers. Visitation rules are not clear. Staff said you needed tickets and can only use the park shuttle, but there is no signage or instructions for the public if arriving there directly. Could have had more details about the soldier's stories, but no trained staff were inside the barn to guide visitors for that deeper experience.

Its currently under restoration. I have the honor to be working here with Kinsley Construction and leaving my little grain of salt.Let me tell you this is such an awesome place full of civil war history that school books don't talk about. Definitely worth stopping to see and experience.
