We had a beautiful time celebrating my birthday at the Inn last week. We started the evening with a elegant dining experience in the main house. Our server was pleasant and attentive, the menu had a vast selection of entrees, and each course served was exquisitely displayed, as well as scrumptious! The warmth of the fireplace was the perfect touch to a chilly evening and made our choice about lingering a little longer to enjoy the chef's secret recipe cheesecake, an easy one.
After dinner, we headed up to our getaway for the evening - ROOM #4 , The Alcove. Let me just say that the photos online, do not due this room, nor the Inn justice. I am so glad that the person who scheduled our reservation over the phone recommended this room for us. It was absolutely perfect.
The room was so much more than we expected and was tastefully decorated with a new blend of old and new furnishings. We live in a historical home and are very accustomed to the character and charm of such treasured spots. The Inn at Herr Ridge will not disappoint. Our bathroom had recently been updated and was a welcomed surprise to our visit. The care and attention to detail of our hostess was just as important to the experience as anything else. She toured us about the common area and each device and detail of our room to ensure a pleasant and comforting stay.
The fruit, cheese and cracker tray, champagne, water, and Keurig were incredibly thoughtful touches to have within our room. The fully stocked common area was also amply supplied to satisfy every need that a guest would have. The rooftop deck, large skylights and windows made what could be a very dark and dreary space in a upper level historical home, quite the opposite! The area was flooded with light, welcoming and encouraged mingling or relaxing, whatever your preference might be.
We enjoyed breakfast in the sun basked Blue and White Morning Room. The continental breakfast display was fresh, lovely and tempting. We were greeted with a hearty "Good Morning", coffee, French toast smothered in Blueberries, whip cream and powdered sugar and a side of crisp bacon!! Yummy!!! This send off made it so hard to leave. We rose rested, refreshed, relaxed and ready to face the day ahead.
We are so grateful to all of those involved behind the scenes to make such an experience happen. Your staff are to be commended and hats off to you the Innkeepers for setting such a fine example. We would look forward to a return visit and will highly recommend...
Read moreIt’s been a month since our visit to the Inn and we can’t get our stay out of our minds. When we arrived early for a long anniversary weekend stay and we didn’t expect to surprise Steve (the owner) who was in the middle of setting up our room with an amazing anniversary surprise. He graciously stalled us well and from that moment on we knew we were in for a treat. Our accommodations were booked with Cassandra over the phone and I briefly mentioned it was our anniversary. We didn’t expect the effort and care given to make it an unforgettable weekend, but we were wrong. |The Inn is a spacious historic building that can be found mentioned in many Civil War Gettysburg history books. Over the years Steve has expanded the properties footprint to include more private rooms and houses giving amazing options for guests to choose from. We choose room 14. This room is generally set aside for handicapped accessible guest requirements but being late in the season it was all ours. We loved it. Out of the way, huge jacuzzi tub, it was perfect for us. As veteran B&B guests of many years we often look for the rare gems in lodgings, we found it there. Each morning we were greeted by Peggy who served our breakfast. Peggy is the kind of person that will make you feel at home right away. She’s an asset to the Inn in many ways and it was a true pleasure to get to know her. In fact everyone we encountered during our stay at the Inn was kind and hospitable. Genuine hospitality is hard to find these days and whether it was Cassandra, Steve, Peggy, Joy, Joe, or anyone else we encountered there they made us feel like friends. That’s a lot more than a bed or a breakfast, that’s irreplaceable. We’ve always traveled with the principle that your stay at a B&B is what you make it, but here that’s easily done. We can’t thank you enough for our stay at the Inn at Herr’s Ridge. Your overwhelming hospitality is greatly appreciated and we truly hope to...
Read moreHad a very good stay at The Inn at Herr Ridge.||Steve helped me when I checked in. He explained where things at the property were located. He also talked about the details of the Inn. I really like history and the Inn at Herr Ridge - as well as many areas at Gettysburg - and Steve mentioned the original building was built in 1815.||The rooms are nice and well equipped. The room I was at had a full restroom with a claw foot tub with a shower. Though some rooms have a jacuzzi tub.||The room was spacious and had a good of amount of furniture and nice décor.||There was a guest journal at the room where several guests have written about their stay and paranormal activity while they were at the room. Thankfully I did not have as noticeable experiences as different guests. Though the second night I was there I did hear little noises that were at the room and there was nothing to explain what was causing them.||There are several common areas the main area being on the second floor with the rooms. It is well equipped with seating and tables and what I could best describe as a full bay type window. The décor throughout the Inn is is cool and historic.||The people who manage the Inn are also very professional, helpful, and nice.||I do not know what the hours are though there is a bar on the first floor.||There is also a restaurant across the parking lot though it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.||They also have some things for purchase on the first floor. I got a Inn at Herr Ridge mug.||I like that the property is located not direct on in the city. It is off of a semi rural road with monuments and statues near by. It feels more rural though is not a far drive at all from things that are in the city.||The additional guests that were there were quiet and respectful.||The Inn at Herr Ridge is an additional gem...
