My fiancé booked Cupids Cabin for my birthday. My family and I stayed at this resort for my sister's wedding back in 2020! When I stayed with my family in 2020, we had the best time! We stayed in one huge cabin that fit all 32 family members, the chapel was absolutely beautiful, the wedding was absolutely stunning as the property was filled with beautiful flowers/gardens, and the staff was extremely friendly. When my fiancé booked this resort he had no idea this was where my sister’s wedding was held. As mentioned above, we stayed in Cupids Cabin. Cabin #12 and let me just say I don’t have words to describe how incredible our stay was! We stayed for three nights/four days. Upon arrival, we were greeted so kindly and given a run down of our stay as well as all of the information we needed, if I remember correctly the man who greeted us was Shawn. He was super charismatic and helpful! Upon arriving at our cabin, my fiancé and I were truly amazed. Not only did everything smell nice and clean, the whole place was beautifully designed and decorated! I was speechless at how cute and quaint our cabin was. We had a microwave, fridge/freezer, fireplace, king bed, spacious bathroom and, our favorite part, a large jacuzzi tub! When we inspected the cabin, we knew we were going to have the best time! Breakfast was complimentary with our stay, and wow! The food was phenomenal and the staff was so inviting. We ate at the secret garden for dinner one night. I ordered the 10oz ribeye with mashed potatoes, broccoli and I even added a lobster tail. My fiancé ordered the fried pork steak, mashed potatoes and micro greens. We both were simply amazed with how well the food was cooked/prepared. We both work in the service industry, so to say our server was excellent is an understatement. The young man who served us blew my mind away with his service, knowledge of the menu and kindness. Moving on to activities, we both were given two free admissions passes to Consolidated Gold Mine, located just 20 mins from the resort. The cave was definitely an experience and so was the free gold panning. Please check them out as they did not disappoint. On the property at Forrest Hills, we paid for the adventure package, so we went horseback riding! I’m emotional typing this because the horses were so sweet and well taken care of. To know the animals are treated with such good care means everything to me. Our instructor, Carly and Grace, were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. You could tell they really love what they do and highly respect the horses and management. I was very appreciative of that. The trail was beautiful and again, I have no words. One last thing that was included in our adventure package was a picnic basket for two. Included amazing amazing food and you could tell a lot of thought and effort was put into each meal. We even got a picnic basket (bag) that we were able to keep for a souvenir. With all of that being said, I really love Dahlonega and the surrounding areas, but we really didn’t even have to leave the property. I wouldn’t have minded staying there the whole time…that’s just how amazing and relaxing it was. Thank you to the staff for such an amazing trip. We will definitely be back, and if you haven’t already, book this resort. I promise it’s worth every penny. Go and see...
Read moreTo the owner: We would have certainly told the office about the filth floors had we NOT been told that housekeeping would not be there until Sunday.
HORRIBLE!!!!! We stayed in one of the two bedroom cabins. We were very surprised to find out this "resort" (as they call it) was 14 miles from the town of Dahlonega. Upon arrival to our cabin, the sidewalk was covered in leaves and uneven pavement, the back porch area was also covered in 4 to 5 inches of leaves. I expect there to be some leaves on the ground this time of the year, but not to the point of not being able to see the ground. Someone should have blown off the area around the cabin before our arrival. We had a handicap lady with us and we had to hold her carefully as we walked in and had her wait until we could sweep off the sidewalk ourself before letting her walk back outside. Next, the floors. They were filthy . I took a wet paper towel and wiped the floor to see how bad it was. The paper towel was black. Not light, barely black.....BLACK, with pure filth!!! The coffee packets in our room were old. We couldn't drink the coffee because it was so stale and had a horrible taste. Next, there were four of us staying in our cabin. Each time one of us took a shower, the cold water lasted for three minutes. Every time! We determined the hot water must be on a timer. The hot tub had black smut around the jets. The sectional sofa was filthy. Thankfully, we took extra sheets.....which we used to cover the sofa and we sat on top of the sheets. The walls are paper thin. We could hear everything being said from one room to another. The management suggested we should have called and reported these things to them, but we were told the office closed at a certain time and that housekeeping wouldn't be there until Sunday (we checked in on a Friday). We SHOULDNT HAVE TO CALL EVERY 5 MINUTES to report to them what should have been done before any guests arrived to stay at that cottage! You would think a place like this would know to have a checklist for the cleaning staff to go by and certain things should have been done. MOPPING FLOORS should have been at the top of that list!! Blowing leaves around the house should also be a no brainer this time of the year. We swept everything that Friday after checking in and when we left on Monday, hardly any leaves were on the sidewalk or the deck. It's a safety feature for heaven's sake! Just do it. New furniture was overdue years ago. Providing adequate hot water should be a given. A guest should not even have to report something so necessary and assumed to be provided!!! Bottom line....unless you just don't have anywhere else to stay, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed for a weekend we were all looking so forward to! They need to just close this 2-bedroom cabin until they can make it right. If we could have found some place else to stay, we would have checked out and done so, but everything was booked. I only give it a one star, but that's because you have to at least do that to post the review. But, I choose to give it ZERO stars! ...
Read moreForest Hills was a massive disappointment. My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and had nothing but problems. We requested that one of our dinners be swapped for a picnic lunch that would be waiting for us in our cabin after our wedding since we wouldn't get back until after dinner time. The staff said that would be totally fine, but the food got delivered to the wrong cabin and all the staff said was "Sorry, but the kitchen's closed" and that they couldn't do anything else about it. The hot tub in our room was also broken, and we had to wait while a maintenance worker completely rewired the controls. When we voiced complaints to the front desk and asked to double-check something on our bill, the rude man insisted that he needed to "remove himself from the situation" and stormed off. The next day, immediately after finishing our meal, another diner filed a complaint because there was what looked like MOLD on her food. Throughout this entire process, the understaffed front desk was scrambling back and forth and barely fixed any of the issues. It was all we could do just to get a refund for the picnic meal that they never delivered to us. I would never stay here again, and I hope that no couple makes the same mistake of wasting their honeymoon on a place that clearly doesn't care about its guests.
UPDATE: In regards to the resort's response, I want to address a few things more closely. Yes, we were happy and joking with the repairman/owner because he was upbeat and amiable and one of the few good parts about our stay. But the fact remains that he was there to fix our hot tub controls, something that should have been addressed before we even arrived, especially given that it only took a minute or less of the tub being turned on to see there was a problem with the jets not staying on. Additionally, the front desk didn't offer us cheese and crackers--they offered us microwave pizzas because apparently that was literally the only thing they had available. Any one issue--the missing food, the broken tub, or the rude front desk guy--would have been easy enough to shake off, but having so many things wrong back to back gave me an overwhelming impression of negligence from Forrest Hills.
As for the other guest with the moldy food, I can't say for certain whether it was mold (that's just what the guest thought), but I saw the green on the dish myself and and I am quite certain that it was more than just "overcooked apples." Whatever it was, it was incredibly unappetizing. If I hadn't already been leaving, I definitely would not have eaten there again.
I don't doubt that they typically provide great experiences to people--their numerous good reviews are a testament to that. But for whatever reason, we ended up with several significant problems that put a major damper on our honeymoon, problems that could have been easily been avoided if the staff had paid closer attention...
