I recently hosted 10 women at The Mountain Top Lodge for a retreat for female entrepreneurs and business owners. We spent 3 nights at the lodge and had the most amazing time. We occupied the Hillside Cabin and the Breedlove Cabin. Every staff member we interacted with made us feel so at ease and taken care of. The gals who work there cross-train to be able to perform all duties from bartending, to housekeeping, check-in/out, food service, and more. They all worked together to make our stay exceptional. Sean, the GM, was also key to helping me plan everything leading up to the retreat. Heather, who owns the lodge with her husband, also helped us make our sunrise hike even more special by lending us some Stanleys so we could pack hot coffee to enjoy at the summit. The whole team at the MTL truly understands hospitality.
Here are just a few more examples:
The night before the retreat, I stopped by the lodge to drop off welcome bags for each of my retreat guests. Adrianna was working the reception that evening and was so kind to walk me around to each cabin (since they were unoccupied) and let me drop off the personalized bags. This was really helpful and so appreciated. The ladies loved having a surprise waiting for them in their rooms the next day.
On the afternoon of our check-in, we were welcomed warmly by Megan, who poured us all champagne and gave us a tour of the property, and escorted us to our rooms. She started us all off in a great mood and continued to be a delight throughout our stay.
Ally, who heads up housekeeping, exudes warmth with her infectious smile. Our rooms were in impeccable condition when we checked in. She made sure we had blankets in the evening as we sat around the fire.
Behind the scenes, Chefs Topher and Charlie worked tirelessly to feed us all kinds of delicious creations. I loved Thursday's burger night in the garden while watching the sunset under twinkle lights. The pimento cheeseburger with truffle fries earned top marks, and our 5-course Wit & Wisdom dinner on Friday night was also spectacular! Truly, all of the ladies in my group were in awe. They even accommodated vegetarian/gluten-free options. I particularly loved the butternut squash soup and the goat cheese course.
Our yoga session, surrounded by trees out on the pavilion, was magical, and we loved all the cozy nooks, both indoors and outdoors, for gathering and relaxing. Every interaction with staff members (like Jamie and Georgia) left a positive impression. I could go on and on...
Thank you to the...

The Mountain Top Lodge was where my wife and I both decided that we wanted to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary and it surpassed every expectation we had!
From the moment that you walk in, you’re met with a Timber Framed Lodge with a touch of elegant modern flare. Staff was also right there to greet you and check you in with a glass of complimentary champagne to get the night kicked off.
My wife and I both started off with one of their signature cocktails crafted by their bartender. The drinks and the presentation were both phenomenal! Of course we had to capture the Smoked Old Fashion being delivered.
From there, we were escorted downstairs to begin the dining experience and were met by some of the friendliest staff. Wit & Wisdom, the name of the actual dining experience, had started!
The lead waitress and executive chef started the experience off by laying the foundation for what we would be getting in to. They discussed the wine pairings and gave descriptions of what each dish of the 5 course meal would be. As you will see by the personalized menus each patron receives, this was going to be quite the treat.
As someone who doesn’t venture out too terribly often in foods, the description of each course from the chef helped to get each of us excited about what we were about to consume.
Throughout the evening, staff was EXTREMELY attentive to each patron and we never went without our water glasses being full and any other drinks they were enjoying never went empty.
Capped off with an incredible dessert and nice Port style dessert wine, the evening was a complete success!
I can’t thank Sean and the rest of the staff at Mountain Top Lodge enough for making our Anniversary one we will never forget! Whether you are local to Dahlonega, or want to make a complete evening by staying in one of their many rooms in the lodge or private cabin, you need to make this...
Read moreMTL was a great find. We will definitely be returning. My fiancee and I wanted a weekend away from ATL and we are so glad to have found Mountain Top Lodge. Here are some of the perks we enjoyed:
AMAZING breakfast with your stay. They should highlight this more on the website because both days we had a full, home cooked breakfast. The first morning we had a beautiful fruit plate with melons and berries followed by cream cheese french toast and sausage. The second morning we had fruit, quiche, & biscuits and gravy. They made sure we had lots of coffee and OJ. Ally was a great cook!
The lodge is recently remodeled and feels super modern chic but also very comfortable. You can tell there was a lot of thought that went into the decor; lots of attention to detail. The lounge in the lodge is very homey, I spent an afternoon reading inside to beat the heat. They also provided really cute reusable water bottles in our room, which we used immediately. When you stay in the lodge, you also have a mailbox for your room where they leave little treats for you! So thoughtful!
The location is great. We wanted something close enough to the town of Dahlonega, close to wineries and Amicalola Falls State Park. I like to be away from the hustle and bustle so this was the best of both worlds for us.
Service was great. On top of the breakfast, MTL also provided a really lovely wine and cheese hour for us. So yummy! Ally was a great host and made sure we were taken care of. We also were a little confused our first morning where to find breakfast, so we called the lodge manager who helped us right away. Thank you, Paige!
This place is new and I have a feeling once word gets out.... they will be booked out soon! Get in while you can! We definitely will...
