I most definitely rate Pioneer playhouse with highest compliment and with a 5 star , best Campground on the world, it's a place where to relax, a place where you can have the family quality time, a place with good honest, caring people, the owners are fantastic very friendly people. And so many campground lots, and affordable, a place to book a party of any kind with a cute barn that will blow your mind , a place to see a real theater plays can't wait to see that , my family and I arrived in November the 1st 2017 and it is know February 14 2018 and my husband and I and my son have enjoyed every minute of it, they have good security out here the owners family always make there rounds to make sure every ones comfortably and offer their Hospitality to there campground customers, they have an antique store with so much to see, thank you Charlete, Heather, Eban,,the Hensons it has truly been an honor to stay at your Campground we will always remember you guys while our stay has been a business Trip so glad we picked your Campground And would highly recommend this campground to any one.

We came to see the “Clue” show on the final night. We started the evening with dinner, which was a surprisingly good plate of BBQ items. The sauce was excellent and the Chef knows it! So that was a great start to the evening- then we walked around the eclectic grounds wandering in and out of old buildings just short of disrepair, but with some charm and each staged as part of an old town street. At the end of the street though was the next surprise- a hole-in-the-wall ice cram shop. I got the moose tracks and I don’t know what brand ice cream they use but it was as good as any Kilwins I’ve been to! Then a bit more meandering through a “secret garden” and off to the play. The play itself was ok- I think the writing on that one may have been a bit thin; however, the actors were so dedicated to making it work- that well, they made it work. A nice mix of yelling and laughing and an effective delivery or the story. A few twists here and there and ultimately a timely ending with an ovation for a strong cast. Definitely will come see how they handle other material! For the cost of the ticket and dinner- you really can’t...

The best theatre in Kentucky! A 72 year-old family owned business dedicated to bringing high quality professional theatre to central Kentucky. Dinner and live theatre under the stars every Tuesday through Sunday, all summer long! A true hidden gem, perfect for a full-day outing or a full weekend getaway in the campground. Everything is so reasonably priced! So much history! Don't take my word for it, come on out and witness all that Pioneer Playhouse has to offer. You won't be disappointed. Make sure you plan ahead, there is so much history to experience. Not to mention cornhole, ice cream in the Pioneer Village, Chef Tom's famous BBQ, the secret garden, historical exhibits, live music, and so much more. Welcome...

A fantastic, family friendly, meal and show under the stars. Very good pulled pork and chicken meal with homemade barbeque sauce, corn, potatoes and slaw. Then the outdoor show (indoor if very hot or raining) with comfortably, plastic, lawn chair seats. A good view from most of them as it's a smaller theater. Fantastic actors that you can meet and thank after the show. Campground and small, old time town to walk through. Can't wait to go again! 😊😊😊

Pioneer Playhouse is a staple of the region's arts and entertainment industry bringing an annually evolving cast and a rotation of plays every two weeks, keeping the stage alive and fresh with thoughtful plays. Mostly comedies and I've never seen a show without at least one side-splitting laugh moment. The talent is cultivated and applied fittingly for each performance. 10/10 Must-do.
