Redwood Motel — Hotel in Des Moines

Talk about Motel from Hell! Thee WORST experience EVER! The smell made me sick! After hours of cleaning we could finally sit down but not before we covered the disgusting furniture first. The carpet was so stained my shoes stuck to the floor. The bedding was filthy & the stained towels had huge holes in them. There for we furnished our own. Most doorknobs were missing. The deadbolt was missing. There were no smoke detectors. The door had huge gaps along top and bottom both. The window blinds were all tore up. One window had material stapled up as a curtain. The lamp cords were stapled to the walls. There were mice. I was dog sitting for a weekend and was told i had to pay the $60. Pet fee or leave so i paid it and then seen afterwards "pet fee $10" but they refused to give me any $ back. We had family from out of town visiting for the day and was informed NO VISITORS allowed, It was posted behind the door not visible. And to top it off my car was vandalized during my stay. We lived here for all of 8 months paying $300 a week for a tiny disgusting kitchen, a smelly living room, two stained queen beds, and a tiny bathroom. It's not that the people were not hospitable because they were, it's just the place is trashed they need to tear it down and rebuild. The people that it draws in there is not a good crowd, and when it's the only place you can afford to live especially for small families is not a good place to have your children. I found hypodermic needles in and around the property. Actually one was found in my room in the toilet paper holder, the cylinder popped open and a hypodermic needle fell out on the bathroom floor, and if a small child had found it, Lord knows what could have happened. My review is they'll help you when you're in a pinch, but if you do not absolutely have to live there with your kids don't do it. A great place looked good n clean when i visited friends or family in town but was told from guest that they told couldnt have visitors n well i sleep from 3am to 8am than watch my grand kids n any sick kids home frome school tell 3pm than i sleep 6 pm to 9 if i can n than out visiting friends so if i stay any were n i hear that im post about every place i stay at or stayed at in my past to now n write reviews on every one of them it shouldn't matter it shouldn't matter if the place is cheap for a night or for the expensive for a night it's all still be clean have guests and be able to have fun enjoy your stay so you come back again and you invite others of your experience there making more guests and more people come...
