Bubbling Wells Oasis — Hotel in Desert Hot Springs

My friends and I had an incredible stay at Bubbling Wells Hot Springs Ranch! While planning a roadtrip from LA to AZ, I was referred by a friend to check out Bubbling Wells in Desert Hot Springs as it was right on my route! David was an incredible host from the moment we pulled into the gate. He met us at our car and took us on a tour of the entire grounds, showing us all of the different houses and areas for lounging, partying, and immersing yourself in the desert landscape.

The hot spring tubs were incredible, and what I was looking forward to the most! The stone tub we soaked in was right by a gorgeous pond with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. We were shaded by palm trees which made the atmosphere very peaceful and relaxing. It's very quiet with only the sounds of the birds and desert creatures as your music. Across from the hot spring pool is a fun pioneer town/old western structure with restrooms and plenty of space for setting up a DJ, BBQ, dance party, and more!

The hot spring water was a perfect temperature for soaking at any time of day - morning, afternoon, and evening. It is crystal clear hot spring water and I felt very rejuvenated after my visit to Bubbling Wells.

The accommodations are gorgeous with a desert-chic-artist aesthetic, and I love how they utilize many of the original materials with the addition of modern luxuries. Each home has many cozy bedrooms with nice bathrooms, huge kitchens, open living spaces, gorgeous tile floors, original artwork throughout, wood carvings, eclectic furniture, and beautiful interior design. The landscape design only adds to the charm of this place with plenty of walking trails sprinkled with statues, sculptures, koi ponds, fountains, soaking tubs, and more.

Bubbling wells is a place so majestic and so unlike any other venue that it is difficult to do justice with words or pictures. The property is adorned with a collection of both indoor and outdoor art pieces that have been acquired over several decades and whimsically curated throughout. Bubbling Wells offers an endless supply of beautiful things to feast your eyes on, from the stunning hot springs spread throughout the property, to the detailed, thoughtful woodworking of the main house, to the breathtaking views of the mountains in the distance. The whole place has an air of desert magic about it, and when my partner and I first visited the property, we knew pretty immediately that it was where we wanted to marry each other. The cherry on top of this already amazing venue has been the enthusiasm, passion, and flexibility with which the property manager, David, has worked with us to harness everything the property has to offer and turn it into the wedding venue of our wildest dreams. When we met David and started discussing the potential of hosting our wedding at Bubbling Wells, David told us “show me your vision, and we’ll make it happen!”. David has brought this fantastic attitude and enthusiasm to all aspects of our planning, putting in huge amounts of work to help adapt the property to our specific needs. David also deeply cares about the town of Desert Hot Springs and works to spotlight and collaborate with local artists, restaurants, and service providers, working symbiotically with the Desert Hot Springs community. Overall, this is a stunning, dynamic property that has the potential to range from a quiet but activity filled spot for a family vacations to a venue for weddings, festivals, and beyond. Our time at the Bubbling Wells Ranch was an incredible experience. David, the property host, was exceptionally helpful and very knowledgeable about the ranch and surrounding area. He gave us the perfect amount of hands-on attention when needed, and the rest of the time we felt like we were the only people on this incredible property. The ranch is located close to amenities- shops, bars, museums, parks, hiking trails, grocery stores, and restaurants, both in Desert Hot Springs (3-5 min drive) and Palm Springs (10-15 min drive). You get the best of both worlds- everything in the outside world you might want or need is minutes away by car, but when you’re on site you have solitude, seclusion, and beauty in all directions.

The hot spring pools were gorgeous, and it was fun to watch the turtles and dragonflies and the husband-and-wife duck couple scoot around the green oasis pond. The rock-lined hot pool was perfect for stargazing on a cool desert night and listening to the bullfrogs sing. I was in need of healing following a devastating health scare; the waters here set me on the path to revitalizing my old self. There’s a reason this place is historic- the waters truly are magic!

I was with one other person and our accommodations were more than perfect, with plenty of comfy spots to relax. The WiFi was super fast, and the kitchen in our hacienda was well-equipped and spacious. However, it’s easy to see how easily the ranch could accommodate large groups and/or events. David was kind enough to give us a tour of the main house which was absolutely stunning and would make an incredible backdrop for weddings and other group celebrations.
