I can not count how many times I said to my wife, "I love this place so much!". It is one of the most incredible places I have ever stayed, and I will definitely be coming back, maybe next time with the kids š¤©. My wife and I decided last minute to go to Saugatuck for our wedding anniversary, and this was the only place we could find that had room for us that was close to town and not at a ridiculous price. I could not have been happier. Upon arrival, you see a cute Inn nestled in a neighborhood with a little gazebo out front and a long porch. This place feels like you are staying in your beach home (If you had won the lottery because I could never afford it, lol). It is small enough that it is intimate, yet there are other guests you can interact with. A bonus for us was the breakfast. We did not even realize it was a bed and breakfast, and the breakfast was terrific! They have everything you need there. They have a room in front for you to use that is a great place to gather with a few people if you need a spot. They are literally across from a fantastic beach on lake Michigan. They have bikes for your complimentary use, and we took advantage of them. You are close enough to downtown Douglas and Saugatuck that you could take the bikes if you wanted, and they would even give you a lock if you were going somewhere you had to get off. They had different types of sunscreen and bug spray for you to use...I mean, what place does that? Don't worry though. There are plenty of taxis or even a bus that will give you a ride if you do not want to drive. The breakfast area has a large fireplace and then a couch with a large tv, and there are many different board games for you to use. There is a whirlpool room that also has a sauna and a bathroom that has a shower in it. The whirlpool room also has giant fluffy towels for you to use that you can even take to the beach, so there is no need to bring your beach towels. It also has a speaker you can pair with for music and a large tv on the wall. There are giant windows out on the pool. That brings us to the pool, where they have different floats for your use and lounge chairs surrounding it. There is even a fire-top table for your use tucked into a private corner. Then you stroll over, and there is a fire pit, and they have all the wood that you need stacked outside the fence. Lastly, in the back, there is a lovely area with a pond with a bunch of fish and water lilies, a fountain, and a bench swing. Our room even had a fireplace in it. The backyard also has a deck with seating, and the landscaping is excellent! Kerry and Tammy are AWESOME! Megan was very friendly, checking us in, and giving us a tour of the property before taking us to our room. Tammy was telling me that they had purchased the property about a year ago, and I asked her about it, and she told me all of the work they had put into it and that they had done a fantastic job. They are such great hosts as well and super friendly...even if Kerry looks like he might be a little grumpy, he most definitely isn't lol šš¬š. I can not say enough about this place, and I have never been so happy with a site where I stayed. My only disappointment was that two nights was not nearly enough, lol. I will post pictures and a video, so make sure you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed at this beautiful Inn in September, during an unusual cold snap as the Lake had just turned over. We were greeted warmly and shown around the Inn to help get our bearings. To say this property was beautiful is an understatement. The owners, Kerry and Tammy, have completely outdone themselves from the large array of flowers throughout the property, quaint little seating areas throughout, Koi pond, fountains and beautiful lighting. You can often see them bustling around working on the Inn, which we appreciate as we can imagine it is quite an undertaking to run a Bed and Breakfast. Kerry explained the Inn had captured their hearts in 2021 and that was it! The room was small but very quaint and with its location in the front of the Inn, we could see the Lake peeking through the trees. Likewise, there was a whirlpool tub in our room, though we didn't use it. Mornings we would spend waking up to fresh coffee, listening to Kerry cooking breakfast. Though he claims he is not a chef, we were treated to different quiches, muffins and breakfast potatoes each morning. Likewise, they offer fresh yogurt, fruit and continental options. We would choose to spend our breakfast al fresco, and especially enjoyed the property's two resident main coon felines, David and Fuzzy. Should you be inclined, they welcome a warm lap in the chilly mornings which we dubbed "coffee and cats." Please note, the Inn also has two dogs. Reading previous reviews, many people are surprised at the animals, however they clearly list their furry residents in their website description. This means they may be found inside our outside. We wish we had brought our swimsuits as they boast a heated pool, which many folks took advantage of. We especially enjoyed the fire pit each night, staying up until the garden lights came on. The dining area and kitchen are open to all guests, including providing snacks for the taking, wine glasses, plates, utensils, ice machine and all the conveniences of home. A couple things to note, the public beach access across the street has a very steep staircase, so if you've brought lounge chairs and such, this makes it a bit of a challenge. However, we were still happy with viewing the water from the downtown area and various restaurants, so we still had the "lake feel." Also, the Inn is located on a busy road, so weekends may see quite a bit of traffic. Just take it as being a popular beach town! We...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Inn is old (which I understand the issues since owning an 1859 home) with newer rooms as an add on. For our money, $450 per night, it was not worth it. Three separate rooms were rented and each had issues 1. bathroom with trim and toilet paper holder both in need of repair. 2. Blinds were broken in a couple rooms we stayed in and also hairdryer in one (it was replaced). 3. 2 of the 3 rooms (in old part) smelled.. not musty but a pungent old smell. Each room has there own window unit AC.. noisy! When we addressed to the receptionist the room with trim and toilet paper holder broken which hadnāt been repaired the next day she was arguing that why didnāt we tell the owners (who we didnāt know who they were) but found out they were the preparers of the morning breakfast. It was never adequately taken care of. Breakfast was decent but āyou better get there earlier than laterā because there might not be enough. The breakfast time was 1 hour and you know how many guests you have and canāt prepare adequately?? Iām a business owner with a food retail business and catering company.. you are able to know this. Fresh coffee is only present at breakfast, otherwise itās instant packets. How much is a Kureig ?? Owners were present at breakfast and not too friendly. Also, they have cats that roam inside and outside the Inn and also dog(s). The place is run down in several areas.. pool (although heating was decent), hot tub and of course the rooms. It is across the street from Lake, Michigan, which is wonderful, but you will not see lakeviews from the Inn and itās 102 steps to get down (and up) to Lake Michigan. Positives are the inexpensive bus service that is available, the gardens, the pool and Lake Michigan. This placed could be a renowned GEM but either the owners donāt have the money to do what needs to be done or possibly itās good enough for the effort they feel they are putting in. We will...
