A novel but great simple campground that's been well thought out. It has all the basics done well in a modern rustic style. Good vibe of families and everyone is friendly towards each other. Maybe because it is an island the campground feels more intimate and safe. The hosts were attentive and genuinely enjoyed visitors. We were concerned about the highway overpass that crosses the campground, but it isn't loud and has very little traffic, a pleasant surprise. The tent sites are on one end of the island, about a 5 minute walk to the bath house which is central on the island. Adding in a toilet only outhouse near the tent sites would be nice. The biggest form of entertainment was the creek that surrounded the campsite. There was a lot of fishing going on all around the island and crawfish were plentiful to catch by net. Friday night had an outdoor movie right next to the playground so that was good for families with small children. The game room was the nicest I've seen at a campground. Good playground, gaga ball pit, basketballs available for the court, corn hole, and Saturday afternoon they set up a small water slide. It was appreciated and fun that one of the hosts slowly drove around on a golf cart and announced activities. The activities scheduled for the weekend were written on a chalkboard outside the activities building. There are domesticated but free roaming rabbits all around the island that were fun to watch. They were smart to keep their distance from the many dogs camping. Unfortunately, there isn't a good place to put a canoe in the deeper area on the south side and the water was very still to almost stagnant. Down at the point next to the tent sites is a small beach that worked out ok, but the water is much lower. The bathhouse was a disappointment. Clean but hot and stuffy. There are the men's and women's bathrooms each with two stalls, two sinks, and a mirror area. Then two separate unisex individual shower rooms with a small changing area. The shower rooms were decorated beautifully, but had no ventilation or exhaust fan. The shower heads were so high it got water on the floor that then ran into the changing area and made putting on clothes difficult. I did appreciate having a seat, mirror, and hooks in the changing room. RV sites are nicely maintained with a fire ring, picnic table, gravel parking for most. Sites are packed close together, but no closer than most RV campgrounds. That just adds to the...

What a great campsite!!!! This was our first visit to The Island and from the minute we pulled in and were greeted by staff we knew we loved it. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming and the campsite is spotless from one end to the other. The bath houses were very clean and well maintained. The sites are well spaced and you have plenty of room on each site. You don't get the feeling that your neighbor is sitting in your lap like so many other campgrounds. The office/store is on the small side and lacks a lot of supplies that other campgrounds offer but it is nice for small gifts and the ice cream is fantastic. If you're looking for supplies to get you out of a jam with your rv/camper you will have to look elsewhere. Stocking necessities is something they may want to look into in the future. The Wi-Fi signal and strength are very good but if you have AT&T phone service your phone will not have strong signal. This seemed to be a non-issue for us because of the strong Wi-Fi signal. The island is surrounded by water thus the name and this was our favorite amenity of the campground. The views and sounds are amazing here and our lab absolutely loved the water. The views of the water are awesome, and the sounds of the waterfall are great. Having a site that backs to water and still have a sewer hookup is unheard of and a plus. Last but not least the bunnies that roam the campground are really cool and eat right out of your hand. The children that were with us really enjoyed interacting with them. We had an issue with our camper one of the days we were there and the willingness of staff to assist us was overwhelming. Ready to help at a minute's notice and do whatever they could to get us back up and running. I mean the staff is so willing to go the extra mile that one of the owners offered to help us unpack our truck when we got there. I can't say enough good things about Campground Island. If your looking for a home away from home this is the place for you. We will...

We love this place! We found campground island via facebook and it was a picture of the water coming over the damn and babbling down along side the island. We booked our first trip in 2022 and were anxious to see if it was as pretty as pictured... and it was! First impression was immediately great as we came down the ramp and saw the recreation area with the two large fire pits, stone and log seating area and string lights. Two campground hosts/owners greeted us as we rounded the bend and they were so warm and welcoming. We drove slowly around the island looking for our spot and were so pleased to back in and see how pretty our view of the water would be. Weather plays a big part in the "island" experience here. If there is little to no rain the water surrounding the island may become stagnant as it's not moving. Also, the waterfall won't flow if there's not enough rain but no matter what, this place is wonderful. Aesthetically, they have really nailed the decor of the rec hall, bathrooms, showers and buildings on the island. We loved that they have "adult" activities, not just stuff planned for the kids. There's wine tasting, craft beer tasting and we even participated in the chili cookoff on one trip. The bathrooms and showers are always clean. There's also a nice camp sink area which we utilize every time we're there because we camp in a pop up without a sink. Lastly but certainly not least.... THE BUNNIES. No other campground can compete with these bunnies! They are so cute and sweet and plentiful. They hop around snacking on all the veggies left out for them. The website has a list of foods you can feed them so everyone can help keep them happy and healthy. We have made this campground our "holiday" campground and go for fourth of July, memorial day and labor day weekends. We just...

While only quick I very much enjoyed my stay. The facilities were nice and well taken care of! The rabbits were fun furry friends to walk through the camp with although they must know something about the tent camping side because they didn't come to visit. I just assumed it was because the rabbit food dispenser is not located on that side of the camp. Electric worked well. Cellular service was good enough to run a hotspot and work if you are a traveling office like myself. Pretty sure there was WiFi, however, I did not utilize. Pretty quiet area too, there's a road that splits the camp from above but the road noise is slim to none at night which is hard to find these days. Super easy to register online and quick. My style is last minute and on the fly with where I might be and few camps have the option to last minute plan the way I do. This camp does, its set up to get you all registered/paid quick without ever having to call in, meet anyone to check in and seamless. This is especially great for me coming in late and last minute, the last thing I am trying to do is go check in with someone when I am ready to check out for the night. The only downfall is I got in a little late and everything is really easy to find with signage other than the tent area which was where I was staying. Certainly helps to come during day lit hours, but the tent sign is a little small with small writing and easily missed when admiring the Campground Island. This problem was easily solved by further reviewing the camp map on their website. I also recommend they include that map on every online registration that comes in. My visit was super short, but when I left the camp bright and early it was a feeling of leaving home and wishing to have had more time to explore especially all the waterfront opportunity.

What a great campground. Run by an amazing Christian family they have going beyond what I expected. Still a work progress when we stayed they still had activities for the kids and families. Still expanding I can't wait to see what the future holds. Large rec room and a small general store in the building process. Playground for the kids. Fishing on all sides. Electric and water at most sites. Great for locals that want a weekend getaway or for campers wanting to visit Gettysburg. Update 10-1-23 Staff is still very helpful and friendly. Awesome place to camp. Feel comfortable letting my son run and play with campground friends and play their outside games. Great to see a camp community as upbeat and friendly as this one. They always seem to have activities for adults and kids on weekends. Update 6/2024 Another great weekend. Staff is awesome and the activities kept all the campground kids busy. One thing I did see is that were using campers and had a dog were walking them to the tent area to use the bathroom. Didn't appreciate that since that's where we stay when we come. Maybe signs saying where dogs can be taken to relieve theirselves.
