Goats, old farm equipment, donkeys, miniature golf, a creek, and surrounding fields. What more is there to love about the Gettysburg Farm RV Campground? I firmly believed accommodations couldn't get any better; this is a pompous establishment. That was, of course, until I stumbled upon a particular bowling pin seemingly masked by the tranquility of the campground. Talk about a lifesaver! You see, bowling has always been a large part of my life. For that reason, I'm always sure to pack a bowling pin or two on my travels. You can imagine my dismay when I arrived to the campground to find that I had forgotten to bring my cherished pin. Depressed, I went for an evening stroll around the campground at a medium pace to ease my mind. "Only two more days" I kept telling myself. That was, only two more days until I could return home to the comfort of my bowling pin collection. Words cannot adequately illustrate my genuine excitement and relief when I discovered that on top all other accommodations, Gettysburg Farm RV Campground had the most grandiloquent of pins awaiting me. Sun beaten and battered, I soon realized this wasn't an ordinary bowling pin, this was something special. Surrounded by a cloud of sewer gasses, I grasped the full girth of the neck of the pin in my hand and savored the moment, fully distracted from the fumes of fecal matter bellowing from below. For that brief moment in time, the dismay of my forgotten pins had been dismissed. I was whole again; my stay was complete. All I can say is, thank you Gettysburg Farm RV Campground. I will recommend you for eternity and your attention to even the smallest of accommodations will not...
Read moreThis campground is part of Thousand Trails. We have a one year free trial with our camper purchase. The campground is large and spacious. Our site was by the river. 30amp water/electric. They have sites with sewer is the "nicer" part of the grounds. They have a dumping station. They have tent sites available as well. The site we were at was 633, its extremely slanted and is a parallel site, so leveling is tricky. Many of the sites near us were muddy and rutted out. When we arrived they assigned us this spot, for some reason I thought I had read that we would get to pick our spot. The bath house near us was closed for "remodeling". Honestly it didn't look like it had been touched in a decade. There was a bath house operational in the center near the dumping station, but was a far walk for us. They have a pool, basketball court, horse shoes, shuffle board and putt putt. The putt putt needed work but was operational. They have a banquet hall theh play bingo in and have an arcade that is small. They have a general store that is small but has some camper equipment for sale. The farm honestly is the best part. You can pet the animals and buy food in the store. The pool looked nice and had a worker maintaining it in the mornings. There are alot of permanent sites here. The river is nice for fishing if you can find a good clearing off the bank. This place is very quiet despite all the kids. This place needs some work but im not gonna complain about free. I believe it's about 80 bucks a night if you pay for it. Overall would...
Read moreWe stayed Mon thru Wed. The pool was down the whole time. It would have been nice to know that as it is why we chose this place. Pool area is very nice. We spend most of our day at the pool so my husband and grandson fished and we all did mini golf. I basically sat and read a book for two days. Bummer we could not swim. Two, the store is not open on Mon thru Wed so be sure you bring what you need. We are used to stores being open daily. Get your propane before coming which we did. It's very very pricey here. We paid $14 at Tractor Supply. Same here is about $80. No big deal just be prepared. A very nice caretaker of animals allowed our grandson to feed a horse. When our boy turned to walk away the horse leaned over the fence and bit him in the upper arm. It is bruised and sore. The employee was also bit in the hand. An incident report was done. I hope the horse was reported as it bit two people. Our boy cried for a long time. It was painful and distressing. I hope the horse was reported and removed. We were camped next to the horses and it was scary watching little kids run up with parents unaware of the danger. On a good note the caretaker was awesome as was the manager who brought us an ice pack and popsicles and the caretaker of the animals kept checking to see if he was ok. Staff here to out of their way to help. Five stars for all. Campground is well cared for. Shower houses are nice. Loved our site. Didn't like the arcade. Very nice play areas. The pool was a big deal so I gave 4 stars...
