I wish I were allowed more characters to share what was a horrible stay at Treetops this last weekend.||I felt as if we were staying in a scary motel when we were in our room. We paid more than $2100 for this 4-day trip and were looking forward to a relaxing and fun time up-north. We also assumed that for the money spent, we would have a clean room, clean facilities, adequate housekeeping and daily clean towels at a minimum.||Problems included: Corroded surfaces in both pools, Expired EGLE license, Women’s shower stall had broken/pushed in tile in coving strip & dirty shower pan, Loose wire on sink attachment, not properly attached, No soap in dispenser, Corroded grab bars, towel dispenser, Corroded metal door plates, handles, stall supports, door damaged, Ceiling peeling/falling into the pool, Paint in pool peeling - steps & bottom, Air vents caked with dust|Corroding metal pieces on pool, hot tub & wooden boxes, Cracked tiles on floor near drains, Dirty drains & pool deck |Stains around water perimeter in hot tub and on seats near hot tub wall, Broken stucco on wall near hot tub||The room: Filthy and unrestretched carpeting, Smears on wall above bed, Lampshade on desk table broken & sharp, All room lamps and lampshades are out of square and cannot be adjusted |Missing finishing rings on sprinkler heads in shower room and sink area, Scraped and marked dresser top, Stained and dirty desk chair seat, Dirty sofa & loveseat arms, Stain/discolored spots on couch & loveseat cushions, Cracked Formica on kitchenette edges, Cracked floor tile,Broken window curtain - missing eyelets to hang correctly, leaky window,Coffee table leg crooked and had to be tightened by guest, Bathroom door scuffed and dirty, Mold in shower near glass||Activities:Broken binding on snowshoe (reported when turned in). I ended up tying it on to use since we were already at the trail rather than driving back to exchange it., a ski instructor caused a young girl (Nora probably age 6) to cry and left her slumped down at the fence, We wanted to cross country ski but no communication about renting skis was provided and wasn’t included in our package despite requesting information on skiing when I made the reservation.|Poor communication through the registration process, Confirmation email doesn’t itemize what is included, Separate email confirmations for each activity is excessive and detracts from the purpose of a relaxing vacation, Wrong times scheduled for activities, Had to ask for a summary of activities which is a better overall guide to the stay, communications/print materials were too vague; for example “meet at the bottom of the ski hill”, Lodge staff were unaware of how to get to ice skating and whether there was seating/skating assistance equipment. No map was provided at check in 2/19 so we were unaware that there was another pool (at the Inn), outdoor hot tub or ice skating.||Food & Beverage: Food quality was disappointing with many over-processed meals and there were few vegetarian and no vegan offerings, Breakfast buffet had fewer offerings than typical chain hotel free breakfasts., On our last night the Legends restaurant reported that our entree dinner vouchers would only cover half of the steak dinners (after we had been served and dined). When I asked the waitress to check as we had been having such a difficult stay she went out of her way to make it right., We wanted to order pizza Friday night which was on the Legends menu, but were informed that it was only served in the Sports Bar on the weekends so even after being seated and served beverages we had to go back outside and go to the Sport Bar to order pizza|Ordinary breakfast beverages were Al a carte rather than included in the breakfast voucher (milk/juice), Being charged for milk to go with tea seems a cheap way to save money and implies that margins are too thin|I wish I could upload all the images of the damage, disrepair, and unhygienic conditions that my family experienced at Treetops, but there isn't enough room either in my review or in the attachments to include...
Read moreTook part in a 3-day "stay and play" package with a group of 32 friends for a yearly golf outing. Overall it was a decent experience and would say it is worth the trip. Will break it down into my three main impressions; Golf, Lodging and Dining.
Golf: courses were diverse and enjoyable. We played Smith Signature, Jones Masterpiece, Fazio Premier and Threetops. Courses were in excellent condition and the staff were helpful and accommodating. From the bag drop employees, the starts and rangers, to the dining staff, everyone was friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. Really enjoyed the courses, both from their aesthetic designs to the challenges they offered. Would play them again in the future.
Lodging: We all stayed at the Inn on this trip. While it wasn't a terrible experience, the rooms and environment were a little lacking. We paid extra for a "hospitality suite" which was really nothing more than a room with a few tables, chairs and a microwave. The rooms were comfortable but the thermostat system is inconvenient. It is a newer thermostat which I assume is an energy efficient type so it doesn't run very often. In an environment like this, I like to set so even if the temp isn't changing, I want to keep the fan going to help drown out the noise from those who like to party later into the night than I do. This system doesn't allow it. And once it shuts off, it didn't seem to turn back on, resulting in waking up 2-3 times a night due to the room getting warm and muggy. I'd set the system to run and it would go for a couple hours, just enough to get back to a decent sleep, before turning off again. Kind of a minor complaint, but it was enough to make for an uncomfortable attempt at sleeping after 36 holes of golf a day.
Dining: Started off on a negative as the first night we were there, we found out a couple of the dining options on the resort were unavailable due to mechanical/environmental issues. Again, after a day of golfing and a few drinks, our group needed to stay onsite to avoid any potential issues with driving. Thankfully this was fixed and our next two nights we had full service at the restaurants closer to the Inn. The service was extremely slow, but again, there were a lot of other groups there besides ours so I understand and tried to be patient. But it was 30-40 minutes after we put in our drink orders that they actually showed up. We didn't have all 32 guys in there, our table had 8 and we saw other groups that came in after us getting their orders taken and served before ours came out. The food received mixed reviews from our party on both nights. We had heard the pizza was what they were known for, but the first thing we were told on Friday night was "just so you know, if you want the pizza we are completely out of it." The chicken wings looked more like the remaining pieces in the bottom of the bag and didn't have much meat on the bones. The grinders seemed OK, a little on the thin side but taste wise were good.
Returned Saturday night (again, a day of drinking, most of us didn't want to drive anywhere) and the pizza was back in stock. It was definitely an improvement from the night before and I would agree it is worth the order. Service was still slow, we had six guys at our table and it took 15-20 to get started.
Overall I'd rate the experience a 3 out of 5. I'd consider staying again, but I don't think it was worth the almost $600 we paid when compared to other stay and play packages my group has done over the years at...
Read moreThis will be long but want to express my frustration with this place since nobody would listen onsite or after we had showed up. We came here to celebrate my son’s 8th birthday. I found them on google and after talking with the people on the phone had high hopes and expectations for the place. My son loves snow and this is why we chose to come here from 4 hours away because we were told they had not had much natural snow this year but had put well over a million dollars into making sure there was snow to do the extras that you can pay for here. We had booked 2 hours of down hill tubing, a double sledded dog race, and an evening snow shoe hike with rental snow shoes. When we got to the grounds I was a little shocked not to see any snow at all. We we were told that they had it on the hills and our extras we paid for would be still going on as expected. When we showed up for the dog sled race we were greeted with dogs pulling a golf cart… mind you we had paid extra for the double sled. We asked about the snow show walk that we had paid for and had paid extra for renting shoes and we were told it still was going on but since they didn’t have snow it would just be a night walk. We didn’t want to pay $120 for 4 of us to take a walk at night for a glass of hot chocolate. We came back to the main lobby and asked if we could cancel our reservation for the shoe walk as it says on the email we could cancel. We were greeted with The response that the shoe walk was still going on and that we could no longer cancel when I stated that we didn’t want to pay that much money just to walk and it states in the email that we could cancel. The lady behind The desk told me that they were not going to issue a refund because it was not up to “my standards.” I was then given a phone number to a gentleman named Doug and told to call him. I called him repeatedly for the next couple hours, and left a voicemail and talked to a receptionist who stated that she was going to call me back in an hour and never did when I called her back she said she was trying to email her boss and she would contact me back And never did. Needless to say, I never heard back from Doug or her. I do understand that nobody can control the weather, but being told that there was snow up here and expecting to do certain things and paying extra for them I think it’s pretty sad that for the amount of money this place takes in and charges for their extras, They cannot give a substitution or a refund like they state they could. I was really hoping for more with this place and will not be referring any people here anytime soon unless they can guarantee that they know there is snow and I would be careful what you pay for ahead of time. A couple of Nice things about the place though are the rooms are very nice and big although the beds are very springy and hurt your back. Housekeeping is extremely friendly, and does a very nice job. pool is very cool and has a nice workout room and sauna. I think we would return again if it wasn’t for the fact of being charged for things that we could not get refund on, and for the amount that we paid to do the extras. Because of this, this will be our one, and only...
