We have been long term at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts Washing DC for over 4 years. We are from Arizona but hubby came here for work.|The one thing consistent about Adventure Bound is nothing is consistent.|Let’s start with the negatives..|The swimming pool is closed more than it’s open. They continually have issues with the pool company they hire, yet they hire them every year. The manager gets the contracts ready and sent to corporate however corporate sits on the contracts and so the pool company starts late and are pushed to even open on time. That is when the pool company isn’t destroying the equipment to stall. Yes, we’ve seen it with our own eyes. They require a lifeguard for this location and yet the same pool company every year is unable to supply one consistently. So, some days the pool is open and some days it isn’t. It closes early and opens late. You definitely can’t make plans to swim as you will never know if it’s open or closed.|The roads are dirt and horrible. One rain and you are driving through hole after hole. The staff tries to stay on it but the equipment is constantly broken and all they do is fill in the holes and pack it down so the next rain just washes it all out and the holes are back.|It is now April and the park is covered in dead leaves as they didn’t pick up the leaves at all. There are piles all over from the campers having to rake them themselves. These piles are attracting rodents and mold and just looking all around messy. Now the grass is growing and needs mowed. Come summer this is another nightmare as they can’t stay on top of it. It’s a huge complaint among the campers.|The dumpster area is horrific! Campers and the campground just pile up bulk items.|Some of the long term sites are absolute eye sores and makes you feel filthy just looking at them. The campground will put out notices to have them clean up and then it goes right back.|They did put in a dog park however the holes in it are huge and that’s a great way for your dog to be injured. They don’t require dogs be vaccinated so you have no idea what your dog is walking into. Now, it is listed in their rules that dogs must be vaccinated but they don’t require proof of vaccinations. There is always poop left in the dog park along with all over the campground.|The rent has gone from 945.00 to 1229.00 a month since we’ve been here. They increased the rates and then decided to label some sites “Preferred Sites” and raised those rates again. The rate increases come with absolutely no extra amenities to the camper.|For your own safety do not rent a trailer here. The older rental trailers have mold that the staff tries to clean up but it comes back instantly and they don’t always find it when they are cleaning. The floors are soft so you can imagine the mold under the trailer that they never clean. It’s a real health hazard! They have a rental camper now that was flooded with septic and they are working on cleaning. Imagine your child crawling around in that trailer. Hopefully, nothing gets missed.|They have broadband Wi-Fi for their campers however it works when it wants and that isn’t often.|They have cable however it is only for certain sites and you can’t get any of the digital channels.|Now for the positive.|The staff is top notch! They will do anything for you. They pitch in and work as hard as they can to keep up.|They allow you to have a fence so your dogs can be like family and hang out with you in the safety of your fenced yard. Making it feel very homey. Oh wait! They just took that privilege away. Due to some people that put up rickety fences and their dogs got out and went after some other dogs. So, instead of punishing the rule breakers they punished the whole campground and took away one of the great reasons to be here.|How can these things be fixed so the campground is worth it’s outrageous rates?|Here are some ideas.|More staff to keep up with the demand. An Assistant Manager that is tough on keeping rules in place and can give the manager a break.|Punish the rule violators instead of punishing...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of staying here for 3 months for work. The staff are so helpful and friendly, they will treat you like family. The pool is huge, and there is a little water slide that we enjoyed almost every day when it was open (seasonal). There is a short nature trail along a ravine that is nice for walking your puppy. Ours had a blast down there and in the dog park. The sites are varied in size, we were in Site 32, and it is a corner site that is one of the humongous ones! This is a large campground and there are long term people who call this place home. I walked around this campground daily, and what I see is most the long-term campers have taken pride in their little yards and placed decks, lights, decorations, plants....very cute! The staff ask campers to keep their sites clean and tidy, and they do for the most part. The campers themselves are friendly and abide by the quiet hours. The water pressure is mostly good. There are times when it's a little low, but not for long. The electricity is perfect! Never had any issues with surges or outages. The wifi we did have some issues with connectivity but we called customer service and they fixed it no problem but it still can be slow at times(probably because of so many people using it at once) The roads are gravel and I did see previous reviews saying how bad the pot holes are but honestly there a few but nothing crazy that's going to damage your rig unless your not going the speed limit. Also, I have seen them fill the potholes in with their tractor so they attempt to keep the roads maintained. This campground is also gaited and you need a code to get in which I really liked. They have a laundry with several machines and a club house with ping pong, a pool table, and a TV and recliners. If you bring your puppy to the office, they will give treats! Now, this is not some fancy dancy campground that is manicured like you're in a resort, but it is a nice little place to stay if you need something close and affordable to the DC area. It's also about 20 minutes to chesapeake Bay and around 25ish...
Read moreDon't waste your time or money. THE WORST CAMPGROUND I HAVE EVER EVER EVER BEEN TO. For the last 12 years my family and I have traveled to different campgrounds. This by far is the absolute worst one. Day one started with no one there to greet us. We had to get out info out of a drop box. Which is not all that bad. We arrived to the RV and discovered the igniter on the stove didn't work. No longer a smoke I didn't have my own. So no cooking at all that night. When I asked about it the next day while officially checking in they said "Oh yeah that one is broken". Could have given me a heads up. The pool while a good size was disgusting. The vacuum was running in it the entire time I was there. On day 3 finally the life one life guard had enough and scooped out the many dead bugs and slimy leaves. As far as entertainment goes, you better bring your own. Sure they have a horseshoe area, but no horseshoes. They have corn hole, but no bags and you have to beg for the mini golf clubs, which are kept in the office, which closes at 6pm. After 6 pm, you are assed out and on your own. The basketball area is a slab of concrete with a hoop on a pole 10 feet up.....whoa ho! Watch out! The campground store and snack shop were closed, not for the day, closed the whole time. They are in the midst of moving things to the office. In the 4 days that I was there not one item moved buildings. Sure they will run over to the old store if you ask for something, but how do you know what to ask for if you cant see it? So buying pool toys for this dismal place was also out. Finally we left a day early because laundry and yard work seemed far more appealing than another night of two teenage boys telling me again and again how bad this place sucks. Couldn't get mad at that, they were beyond right. While checking out, not once did they staff ask why I was leaving early or if I enjoyed my stay. Nothing, zero, zilch, nada....while friendly, they had the customer service skills of a wasp. They don't deserve the one star I was required to give them to write...
