This is a fantastic get-a-way for camping or glamping in their cute little cottages. The history of the place is really cool to learn, and Alicia in the front office is super friendly and accommodating. Park is very well maintained, landscaping is kept up, trash emptied frequently, and sites are spread out so you can have privacy, or be close to traveling companions if you wish. Very pretty drives in the area, one of the quietest parks we've been to, and virtually no signs of life during the week. Amazing camping experience. For anyone working remote however, I would find somewhere else. No operable service from T-mobile, ATT is super weak with virtually no upload for video calls, Verizon has signal, but no data transfers through it at all. Starlink works well, but there are a ton of trees, and even being at the top of the hill and having my dish extended all the way, I still had obstructions at the very bottom of my dish causing drop outs every 13 minutes. Trying to work for 2 weeks here was a struggle, and even trying to play our PS5 was challenging, although streaming TV seemed ok. Campground wifi on 5ghz was "ok" when we first got here, but after another rig arrived between us and the office, it was unstable and unusable. Their connection is strong, but their equipment for broadcasting throughout the park is extremely weak, even with our roof top antenna and being fairly close to their equipment. Lastly, while the park itself is big rig friendly, ALL of the roads into this place are TREACHEROUS for 45 foot luxury rigs, especially when towing. We did come in the GPS way, and it was very scary, and we took a hard branch hit to our front cap. We spent the next several days plotting a route out. The staff was directing us towards a bridge that we exceed the weight limit for, and going the recommended way puts you into an extremely tight blind corner right away. Unfortunately, that is the better option. The trees on our side of the road do not seem cut back far enough, so getting out of here will be interesting.
We would love to come back for a relaxing stay, however we will not be bringing our 45 foot rig back, nor will we try to work here again. A pleasure stay in a cabin or with a smaller rig would be worth it though. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in...
Read moreIn a world full of noise, what a pleasant surprise Grandview Campground and Cottages were to find quite by accident. We have been full time RVer’s for 15 months and with Grandview being our 35th stop on our 10,000 mile journey, we feel like experts in campgrounds. Grandview felt like what campgrounds use to feel like; families gathered around the fire pit while kids played hide and seek behind the huge trees. The campground has old fashion horseshoes set up, a basketball court, a pool and pavilion. They’ve got buildings rentable for family reunions and weddings too. But the very best part of our stay at Grandview was the kindest and most helpful owners and staff in any campground we’ve ever been to.
Anything you’d ever need or want in a fairytale like setting is exactly what we found in Moodus, Connecticut, of all places.
We found ourselves face to face with a family crisis and had to find a campground that could squeeze us in with very little notice. We had a lot of rejections before finding Grandview which we didn’t even know at the time was a blessing in disguise.
It was an added bonus that they have cabins interspersed throughout the campground. We were able to have family members, flying into Hartford, rent a cabin right in the campground we were staying at. And, although we had never heard of Moodus, CT, it turned out to be convenient to everything. We squeezed in trips to the water, an amazing off broadway production at the local opera house, great food choices and an easy 40 minute trip to the airport.
Honestly, Grandview was the best example of campgrounds we have happened upon during or journey. We will...
Read moreGrandview campground presentation is very nice ,prices are reasonable, sites extremely small for bumper pull campers , they say they are a family campground but they are not , the manager Vince is on a power trip and is running the general operations of the campground similar to a dictatorship, what there is of a playground its not kid friendly, can't put down camping rugs but can set up tents on the grass , you have to buy their bundles of wood at 7 plus bucks a bundle and is extremely dry so you go threw the bundle in a hour . The reason you can't bring your wood is because they are afraid of getting bugs in their campground that are evasive from other states but I was from conneticut. The claim to have wooded sites but all their sites are the same as camping in a field at a state park with hardly any trees . The manager was mowing at 7 a.m which is rude . They have rules to follow but there ,but what there was of kids they where running around way after 11 p.m of noise time . The camp store was barely stocked. They claim to cater to family and friends yea if it's their friends and they where letting these friends and families use their firewood off these friends own vehicles. So if I can give 10 negative stars I would . Going here was a waste of a great holiday weekend. And if you bring your dog(s) they want you to bring the dogs medical records which is not a good business practice. Every other campgrounds we've been too all the wanted to see was our little monster man rabies tag not his whole medical history. So we will never go back here even if they are the only place...
