abbreviated If you are willing to stay on top of your wedding planning & ask a lot of questions, this is a really nice, cost-friendly option for someone who is looking to have their whole family relaxing around them for a few days instead of “8 hours & get out.” SVHR did include a free overnight stay in December where you could meet their preferred vendors (which landed us some significant discounts) & that also gave us the opportunity to lock in some other contracts before the bridal shows started. I like their policy of 1 wedding/weekend. SVHR has a great attitude, unfortunately, I wish the “we’ll make it right” attitude didn’t have to come into play so much, because that caused a lot of frustration for both my husband & me throughout the planning process, as well as our guests who were spending the weekend with us. It seems like Tracy (Manager) had most of the knowledge in her head, & I wish that the computer system had been more up to date with notes for the whole staff to access so that there wasn’t a need for her to have to fix everything. She was phenomenal to work with, but that is a LOT of stress to put on one person. We didn’t meet the Wedding Planner until the August 2016 meeting, which was fine, but she left our meeting to meet with another couple. The day of my wedding I couldn’t get in touch with the WP for a couple hours because she was meeting another couple in the reception area where my guests were about to be seated. Immediately after the reception ended I spoke with the WP & asked her if I needed to tie up anything else with the bar, wait staff etc. re: payments & the WP responded by telling me that I needed to remove our centerpieces by 9am the next morning as there was a brunch party. I’m sure the look I gave her prompted her to quickly offer to remove the centerpieces for us, because I felt like I had just been slapped with No Service After The Sale. (To their credit, the venue did figure out our shambles of a seating situation, as I had not asked enough questions around that point, & they were willing to come up with an 11th hour solution there.) My mother also had an issue with the Spa on the resort, as she had called to book ladies’ facials for 6 women and explained that all the ladies needed to have their facials completed in time to start getting ready for my 1pm wedding. We showed up to the Spa at 9am, & there was only 1 aesthetician, who was a little confused. The Spa made some corrections, & everyone got an express facial, etc. SVHR is Not readily handicap accessible, ie: rooms, rehearsal dinner location, bi-level reception dinner floor plan, etc. SVHR was very honest about the fact that the wedding business has expanded rapidly from 8 to 40 per year in just a few short years, & in addition to that it looks like they are trying to expand the overall rental & condo sales. Some of the guest cabin issues included our guests calling & requesting a 4 BR cabin, & being rented a “future 4BR cabin” that did not have the renovations completed by the time they checked in. Additionally, the rental software (which was separate from the wedding software & computer entirely) kicked out some guest reservations just prior to check-in that had been in the system for probably at least 9 months. At the end of the day though, did our guests leave saying that this was the best wedding they had been to all year a/o ever? YES. None of our guests experienced a single issue during the ceremony & reception itself. People were getting sirloin cuts off the carving station that were an inch & a half thick & the seasoning was perfect. The chocolate fountain had all ages oooh-ing & aaahing. The photo booth (which is part of the reception area) was never without a line. The staff were extremely polite & professional. Ultimately, it was everything we wanted our wedding to be, which was warm, fun & personal & most importantly there was a never ending train of delicious food & drinks. We would recommend the venue to...
Read moreMy wife, teenage son, and I stayed at the Sheepscot resort in Edgecomb, ME for a week in September, 2024. There are only six rooms in a "Lodge" building that are available to RCI members. The actual Sheepscot resort is owned by anoher entity that does not participate with RCI. The lodge building has several other rooms and they can be rented through various means. There were no employees on site nor management. The person you call to get your door unlock code is located in another state. We were told by her that there is housekeeper that is in the local area if we needed something but she was not onsite. Luckily, we didn't have any issues. ||||The room was very clean but a bit small. The refrigerator was not full size but was big enough for our needs and had a small freezer on top. There was no cook stove in the room but it did have a microwave, a toaster oven, and a hot plate. There was also no washer/dryer in the unit nor on the property. There is a washateria in Wiscasset that is about 10 minutes away. ||||The unit was described as having a "private" bedroom and a sleeper sofa. In reality, the bedroom is not really private. There is a double door that closes it off from the sleeper sofa area but there is another entrance to the bedroom from the kitchen that has no door. Also, once the door is closed, you don't get any air since the air conditioner unit is at the front of the room in the living room area. If you close your "privacy" doors, you don't get any A/C. ||||There was a dehumidifier provided in the bedroom as well as a fan on a stand which was nice. The bathroom was clean and had soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided. ||||Overall, I would recommend this room for a couple but not...
Read moreWe paid over $800 for a 3-night stay in Suite 203, and our stay was worth maybe $200 total. On a surface level, the place looked nice, but it has clear problems that would prevent me from ever booking again.
The good: The waiter was very nice and informed us how to check in since our check-in at 5:30pm was considered late. The dock had some very pretty views as sunset. Note: There are many small flies there that feel like they bite. The wifi was good and held up for my boyfriend and I to have two video calls at the same time.
The bad: The main rug looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in more than a year. The rug in the bedroom was flipped upward, which was a potential hazard. The wooden and bathroom floors were so dirty that our socks were completely brown on the bottom at the end of each day. We were so grossed out by the stickiness of the floors and the dirt on them that we wore socks the whole time. Two of our pillows were on our nightstand instead of the bed when we first came in. We killed over 50 bugs in our room, including ants, spiders, mosquitos, and beetles. The ant problem is clear – we could see the ants crawling in from outside underneath the main door. The paint is peeling off the bathroom ceiling. There are no exterior lights on the walkways outside. My boyfriend and I are in our late 20s, and we were concerned. I can’t imagine being older and risk potentially falling. The microwave had such a low wattage that cooking our oatmeal in the morning took double the amount of time. The refrigerator froze most of our produce, even though it wasn’t close to the freezer area.
Frankly, we couldn’t wait to get out of there. I’m not sure how this place has so many...
