My sweet loving wife and I booked a room at The View so we could have a romantic weekend because when I first drove past this nice motel I couldn't help notice the beautiful views so we called and booked a room for a two night stay, well not only was the room so extremely nice but Andy and Joyce were so nice and so extremely accommodating and went all out to make our stay so extremely pleasant and they were so friendly and genuinely kind and we never received such genuinely kind services at the 5 star hotels we have stayed at in the past so Andy and Joyce were one of the many great experiences of our stay. We had a lot of fun visiting Elizabeth and Galena and because of how nice our stay experience was we asked Andy if we could book our room one more night and he said it was available so I decided to make it a three day weekend getaway especially with how my wife really wanted to stay another night with how much she loved The View and they won her over from the time we first arrived and we noticed Andy and Joyce wrote on our rooms window "Welcome Matt and Debbie" so we were both so pleasantly surprised to see that sweet personalized touch that won us over the moment we got there!!! Thank you Andy and Joyce for everything you do for your customers and we will see you again in October to see all the beautiful Autumn colors, we are so looking forward to it...
Read moreOur party of 3 rented 2 rooms for the weekend of the Garlic Festival, on probably the hottest day of the year so far. We were pleasantly surprised by this property that is a small, independently owned motel, sitting just off the main highway on US Route 20.
The aptly named View Motel sits atop a ridge overlooking a lovely valley below. It is decorated with lovingly planted huge pots of flowers and numerous Adirondack style chairs and benches nestled close to the hotel office. The patio outside the office offers a few picnic tables, complimentary beverages (both soft drinks and adult) and softly played 50's and 60's music around a nightly communal campfire, generously supplied by Andy, one of the owners. Sitting back, watching the stars, drinking Andy's wine and enjoying the company of the other patrons of the establishment was just a plus for me. It has the big area resorts and chain hotels beaten in my book, and I've traveled extensively for business for 20 years.
The rooms are extremely clean, everything looks newly painted and well cared for, and there is also free cable and Wi-Fi in each room. The beds are to die for, you feel like you're in a spa they're so comfy. You would be hard put to find either a better deal or nicer owners anywhere. I'm already looking forward to my next trip back to the area so I can reserve another room...
Read moreWhat a Wonderful Gem on 20! My 75-year-old dad and I were visiting with family for an evening. They highly recommend The View Motel, said it was a run by Andy & his wife. And it was the best place to stay near at their home, in Hanover. You cannot book online, Andy wants to speak with you personally and he wants to know what your real name is, not the name of your credit card and likes to know the names of everyone in your party. He provided very easy confirmation numbers, who actually remembers their 10 digit confirmation number? We arrived the next day, he was waiting for us along with his wife. He gave us the instructions on how to use the TV remote, and to work the HVAC. And then offered us complementary water, soda, and/or wine. We were greeted with a Special greeting upon entering our rooms, hence why he want to know everyone’s name in our party. The bed was comfortable, the room temperature was great, & plenty of fluffy towels. There was a TV and a Keurig machine in each of our rooms and they had a community room with a refrigerator and microwave as well as literature for things to do around town. I was concerned with being right off the highway, but I slept like a baby! We will be back and hope to get to relax on the patio behind the motel with the amazing view...
