Booked this over a month in advance everything looked good in the pictures, should have read more reviews but it was where my girlfriend said she really wanted to stay. We arrived about 3:30pm the house keeper had to go find someone to take care of us. Room had cob webs everywhere, closet had mud dobber nests(type of wasp) in the closet which are made of mud and someone had busted a few down, microwave door is grimey, the mini fridge had parts from it sitting on a shelf above it that i had to put back in, was hair stuck in the blinds, the table the microwave sits on has old food in the slats its made of, sliding glass door is too big for the framing so the center doesn't actually close letting bugs in, the window looking out to our vehicle has a broken blind holder so if you try to open it it falls to the floor, light bulbs are different kinds in the same fixture, stairs leading to the open area behind the building are broken, the small screened in rooms they have on the back of the building are trashed, I asked if our rooms were ever cleaned and I was informed not until we checkout unless I wanted to pay $25 a day extra on top of the $152 a day I'm already paying they said all big hotels do it that way i have never stayed in a hotel big or little that charge you extra in over 20 years to clean up a room and if I want clean towels I have to bring them down myself. I was little upset if they didn't clean the room before I got here what would make me think it would be cleaned if I paid extra?? They said they would refund me .... I had to book over a month in advance for my vacation where am I going to find another place for a week last minute. Looks like a cute place online I would never recommend this to even someone I didn't like. Oh and I was told by the woman at the front desk which I am assuming is the owner that the closet and blind would be fixed the next day neither were. I guess I expect a tad bit of honesty from someone who runs a "resort". I was also told the reason things don't get cleaned or fixed is because labor is too high, then maybe you shouldn't be running a "resort". We will never stay here again and if I could find another place to stay I would but everywhere I have called is booked. I have stayed in some pretty bad places and this one is right in there with them. Had to update review took 5 days to get the owner to fix blinds, he let a drunken guest come into my room to vacuum my filthy closet, told the guest I didn't want him in my room but he refused to leave, and then I had to call the police because because the owner got angry at me so he hit me and shoved me towards the outside railing. If you decide to stay here just becareful owner does not like to be asked to fix or clean thing and he is violent. He was threatening me while the officer was standing there and the officer had to stop him from coming at me. WORST PLACE I HAVE...
Read moreThe only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because this place is right on the river. If it weren’t for the fact that you can walk out the door and be on the river I would give 1 star. We rented one of the cabins, for $225.10 we got a luke warm cabin, with two beds, a shower, sink and toilet. There was a very small a/c unit, and a ceiling fan trying desperately to keep up with the 95+ degree heat. The beds, oh the beds, where do I start? Have you ever spent a night in the hospital? You know how the bed doesn’t breathe because it’s plastic? That’s these beds, but worse, remember the ceiling fan and a/c trying desperately to keep up? It makes the beds feel like they’re 100 degrees while you’re trying to sleep and sweating profusely. You might be thinking, what kind of linens are on the beds? Well, those would be whatever you bring from home. Yes, I mean you have to bring your own bedding... to a place that costs $225 per night. I don’t know about any of you, but I’ve stayed in high end hotels in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, St. Louis, Kansas City, etc. for LESS than $180 or night and didn’t have to bring bedding. But it doesn’t stop there, oh no no no, there are no towels, no hand towels and no wash cloths either. That’s all on the occupant. I actually think these cabins were called something like “bargain” cabins... ha ha... that’s a joke completely lost on us, “bare minimum” cabins is more like it. There WAS a disheveled roll of toilet paper and a miniature trash can. The trash is on you too, be sure to bring adequate trash bags for your stay as your trash is not to be left anywhere near the cabin and properly disposed of in the dumpster up the road upon your departure, it’s a rule. There was a laminated piece of paper in the “cabin”, I air quote cabin because it’s really just a storage shed with a bathroom, nothing more, but the piece of paper had 14 rules on it and the last line said, “Don’t give us a reason to add more!” Our family thought that was funny. All in all, for a “relaxing” getaway, this is not your place if you’re the mom or the person who does laundry in your family. I don’t know any mom in America that wants to take their own bedding and towels to a place, make beds, then lug all of the bedding and towels home and have to wash all of it. No one wants to do that! For $50, sure, for $225, you’re out of your mind! We should’ve just got the tent out of the attic. For the 16 hours we were there, we didn’t get anywhere near our money’s worth. We did enjoy the river, but we could’ve pitched a tent for less than $30 bucks on the river and had the same amount of work. Did I mention my husband booked this place?...
Read moreIt's decent. If you picture staying in a Midwestern cabin on a river it's about what you expect Albiet overpriced. We stayed in what they considered their nicest cabin. Only 1 of the 2 showers had hot water. The shower with hot water didn't drain and would fill up. And the grout had mold spots. The heater didn't work. Towels feel like sandpaper and 20 years old. The furnace return filter had 5 years worth of dust in it. The shower that had hot water felt like a pressure washer with sand in it. I wouldn't shower here if you value having nice smooth hair. Took 2 days back home if treatment to get my hair moist and shiny again. The sheets definitely weren't 100% clean and had hair on them (even under the comforter). The beds are comfortable, however they don't have a real bedframe and it's just plywood. The mattresses slide easily on this platform and since there is no room for the mattresses to breathe I wouldnt be surprised if there was mold on the underside of the mattress. Phone data is better than their free wifi, the full kitchen had very old dishes and utensils but less of cute & old aesthetic. But more like everything was from dollar general 30 years ago and super worn. The only skillet was Teflon coated and the coating was half missing. Definitely a health hazard. The porch facing the river looked like it hadn't been clean all season. The fan on the porch looked like it was going to fall. One door knob to the cabin was broken and didn't work. They informed me of this. However the only other door knob to enter the place was absolutely terrible to use. You had to jiggle the key and the knob to get it to lock or unlock. The window style ac units used to cool the place weren't sealed to the cabin and had 1cm gaps on all the sides letting in outside air. I'd be careful staying here in mosquitoe season. The kitchen really wasn't that clean. There was reminents of food still on the stove top. The ceiling fans, counters, top of the fridge etc basically all the horizontal surfaces had a decent amount of dust on them. This review is getting long so I'll end it with this. If you don't have any other options then stay here. The owner recently changed (maybe 2 years ago) and from the rumors I heard they had recently lost an employee so they're understaffed. The 2 people I came in contact with were nice and listened to the things we really wanted solutions for however I didn't tell them everything that was wrong. This review is my experience & yours can vary. It's possible they fix this issues or maybe they don't. I saw some air bnbs that looked like a better value but...
