The Escondido Lodge is the perfect budget-friendly, clean, hassle free, family owned motel. The motel is centrally located without being in the middle of all of the downtown buzz. It is super easy to access right off the 15 and 5 minutes from the 78. The motel does offer a discounted weekly rate, a discounted monthly rate, and I believe works with voucher programs. Normally with voucher programs you'd see a bunch of shenanigans but not here you would never know everyone is well kept and very friendly. There are kids riding bikes and scooters because it is a safe place for them to have a little fun. The gentleman that works the morning shift is very polite, accommodating, and focused on his work. My check-in was super easy, straight to the point, hassle-free, and took less than 5 minutes. It was just what I wanted after a long day of travel and waiting around. This is a pet friendly motel, that being said you would never know because anyone who does have animals cleans up after themselves and the motel does a wonderful job cleaning. There is a designated area for dogs with poop bags and a gated dog run. There are also no poorly trained animals, all the dogs are super friendly (there were 3/4 when I was here). There are two washers and two dryers in a small building next to the pool. 24-hour access which is so great. There are also two vending machines in that same area, which are great for a late night snack(Conveniently both machines accept cash and card).
My room was super clean, modern, with a desk and a small table. The room also had a microwave and a mini fridge. I love that there's lots of shelving for storage and plenty of outlets. it definitely looks recently renovated, everything was in great condition and bright and shiny, especially the plantation shutters super cute.
Overall I would rate this stay a five out of five experience. If you're looking for luxury this isn't it but if you want a safe, comfortable, modern, hassle-free budget-friendly pet-friendly motel this is by far the best one in Escondido. I will absolutely be back thanks for a great stay...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill. I stay here every few months when I come to visit family and friends. The old managers were so nice and always greeted me like I was an old friend. They also kept the property clean and tried their best to keep out the riff raff. The last 2 times I stayed here, the ice machine was broken, the WiFi went down, the cable TV was breaking up and/or freezing, the continental breakfast is a joke (they took away the fresh fruit, orange juice, danishes and croissants. Added stale bread, jam and Tang or Sunny Delight. They didn't fill it up if people took everything), the room was infested with ants, people were going through the trash and ash trays, people were getting drunk and rowdy at all hours, they were screaming, arguing and yelling obseneties outside of the rooms, a couple of people vomitted in the parking lot, every time I left my room I was approached by someone begging for money or cigarettes, a little after 5am all the outside lights turn off and it is pitch black(you literally can't see anything and someone is going to get hurt especially on the stairs), I found drug paraphernalia, and the grounds were filthy. The night clerk does nothing but talk on his phone all night long. I think his ear buds are permanently attached to his head. The only positives are Steve (the evening clerk that's been there a while), the housekeeping staff are the same and friendly, and the day clerk Rachel (she's new but so nice). They need to bring back the old managers to train the...

It's the hidden treasure of motels in Escondido.
The service from the front office is friendly, personal and quick....and they Listen.... believe it!!!
