If you are looking for long term stay - this is the review you’ll need
I only value two things for long term stay, quiet and clean, and this place was both. I was placed in the main building, third floor, at the end, and only stayed next to other long term stays. The room was a little dated, but it was clean and that is all I wanted. The area was quiet and the only two noises were the music in the hallway (they turn it down if you ask / off at night) and kids in the pool until approximately 9PM. If you don’t want to listen to kids in the pool, then I’d ask for a room that faces the parking lot.
Cleaning comes in every other day and if you don’t want that, they fully respect the privacy sign, but will need to come in once and awhile to make sure everything is good. Breakfast was above average and I enjoyed the options, pastries, and fresh cut fruit. Coffee and hot water are always down in the lobby and were pretty solid. There is a restaurant in the casino approximately five minutes away that isn’t bad, but you’ll be paying casino prices.
If you are a gym type of person, the gym has three cardio machines and a peloton that worked without issue. There is a full set of weights up to 50 lbs and a bench, which was more than I was expecting from a hotel. If you really need more equipment, the gym at the hotel / casino is available to you and it has more. If you are a runner, there is a long road that runs along the highway (separate of course) that is nice for running or biking. There are also a few trails, including a cement trail ("Butterfly Trail") about 2.7 miles long. The pool is a bit smaller, but never had a lot of people so if you want to relax or swim laps, it is a chill place. Once again, if you want a bigger pool, you can always go over to the hotel / casino and they will let you hang out there due to your residency at the Hilton.
There is a grocery store on the Pueblo about 10 minutes away, or if you want to drive to Santa Fe, there is a grocery store called Market Street about 25 minutes away. Market Street had a lot of prepared meals and pulled chicken which worked for the kitchen setup. If you plan on doing food delivery, think again, I had orders cancelled because the driver wasn't willing to drive from Santa Fe. The staff at the hotel were always very friendly, professional, and helpful.
Downsides: The kitchen is just a larger fridge, stovetop with two burners, dishwasher, and microwave. Other long term places like a Residence Inn usually have larger kitchen, but this will do. Just be aware that there wasn’t any pots or pans and limited dishes / utensils.
I don’t see this as a downside, but some people might, the drive into Santa Fe is about 25 - 30 minutes. If you stay here, you will be fairly remote, some people like it, some people dont.
WiFi on the “normal” package streamed Netflix fairly easily, but if you want to do anything more advanced, it will struggle. Cell service in the entire area was a bit spotty, but that makes sense considering where you are.
I’ve already recommended the hotel to others in my company, if I was sent back out this way I’d...
Read moreMy husband and I are moving to Santa Fe, NM and decided to stay at the Homewood suites hotel for however long it would take us to find a home. The hotel is part of the Buffalo Thunder Resort in Pojoaque, just a few minutes north of Santa Fe, NM. So far, we’ve been here 4 weeks and plan on staying another 2 weeks or so. The suite we rented had a living area and the bedroom/bath separated by a door. The kitchen had all the basics you might need. The staff here are very courteous and do their jobs with diligence. I was very impressed with how the hotel and resort kept to the COVID-19 guidelines. Everything was clean, and in good working order - from our suite to the dining/sitting areas. We had housekeeping come once a week to change linens and clean - they were thorough and polite. I took one star for the entertainment system and tv which seemed old and clunky. I had to fight with the tv remotes to change channels, adjust sound or turn them off altogether. I also felt that in this age of streaming tv, the “movie rentals” were ridiculously expensive and their “free” channels were severely limited. The internet was ok, a decent connection except on really busy nights but we would get knocked off from time to time and I kept having to sign in. There is a business center, we used a couple of times and everything worked fine. I’ve included a few pics I’ve taken so you can see the property was well maintained with an old golf course for a walking path and although we don’t play golf, the actual golf course looked entertaining. Also the hotel is dog friendly with several areas to walk the dogs, plenty of “poo” stations and a dog park. We don’t gamble so I can’t speak to that aspect of the resort but we did tour the main buildings and saw the bars, restaurants and casino... the main building common areas were beautifully decorated with art, statues and jewelry made by local artisans. I highly recommend this resort whether you stay in the short term or long term part of the resort - it’s made our trip so much...
