Bear Lake Cottages (Kevin)

What can I say that others have not said in this wonderful testimonial journal? Because after reading theirs everything is absolutely spot on.

My husband and I have been married 44 years. He’s considerably older with some sever health issues. We loved to travel before our children were born, and planned journeys for after they were grown. Fast forward his issues began two months after our youngest was born. (He’s married now with a wife and three beautiful children). My husband had a major heart attack (10 being the widow maker) his was an eight. Things went down from there. I worked and maintained the bills and expenses. I also volunteered on our community fire department. Became the first woman fire chief. (My goal other than saving lives and property, was lowering our insurance.) I did all this while continuing my education and working full time at MGCCC. See they also benefited from my knowledge and supported the community fire department allowing employees to leave when toned out. Fast forward I changed to another job within the retirement system and retired 1.5?years ago.

My husband said he could never travel again with his ailments and continued to push me to go alone. In did seeing, Alaska, Scotland, and Greece. But, it wasn’t the same as sharing with your life partner. Sure he lived through my photos and videos and was satisfied staying on our Mississippi farm. (But I wasn’t). He even said he could see everything he needed on the TV.

I bought him an electric scooter and told him he was going on this journey. No was not an option and after clearing doctors hurdles we are here, the halfway point to Nebraska to meet one of our great grandchildren for the first time. I scoured the internet looking to find a spot he could and would enjoy along with rest along the way.

One never knows what is true on the internet, but I prayed and hoped The Beaver Cottages were as perfect as described. This place has exceeded expectations. The location, the exceptional views, the wildlife, the accommodations and hospitality by Kevin. We will be back because after 44 years it allowed my husband and I to reconnect and explore like we were first married. I asked him on the first afternoon as we looked upon the water if he was enjoying, he said yes. Then I said isn’t this better than seeing on TV? He smiled and said, yes.

You can’t go wrong on food. We went to McGarity’s Pub the first night and Anglers the second. Both were great but our preference was Anglers.

We went to see “Christ on the Ozarks” after we saw it on the Aerial show on TV. (Selfishly I wanted my husband to have something to compare with the TV). He was like a younger version smiling the whole day. We used his scooter and they took us through the Holy Land Tour on a golf cart instead of the bus. He was actually involved in the tour and mingled with other tourists. PS plan a whole day because due to time didn’t see the museums and other facilities. But, we will be back.

Where will we stay? Right here with Kevin at the Beaver Lake Cottages!

Enjoy the hiking around the cottages. If you’re older like me Kevin has a walking stick you will need. The climbs are steep and covered with natural rock and leaves. Once at the lake they have kayaks, paddle boards, canoe, and tubes to use. I will be doing that on our return!

Relax and let Kevin pamper you as little as you like or if you’re like me a little more. All with a smile upon his face. By the way yesterday was Kevin’s birthday.

My recent visit to Beaver Lake Cottages near Eureka Springs was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had stumbled upon a hidden gem tucked quietly away in the trees, overlooking the peaceful waters of Beaver Lake. The location is absolutely perfect for anyone seeking relaxation, privacy, and natural beauty. It’s far enough away from the buzz of town to feel like a retreat, but still close enough to explore the charm of Eureka Springs if you want to.

The cottage itself was spotless and smelled fresh and clean — a detail that instantly made me feel at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the kind of bed you sink into after a long day and don’t want to get out of the next morning. I appreciated the little touches too — they had snacks and drinks waiting for me, which was such a thoughtful surprise. It really made me feel welcomed and cared for.

Now let’s talk about the amenities — because they truly went above and beyond! The hot tub on the private deck was a dream, especially in the evening with the stars above and the sounds of nature all around. I also loved that kayaks and paddle boards were included, giving me easy access to the lake at no extra cost. Being able to wake up, sip coffee on the deck, and then paddle out onto the lake within minutes was unreal. It’s the kind of peaceful experience you can’t get just anywhere.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a solo recharge, or even a quiet place to write, reflect, or reconnect, this place has it all. It’s cozy, charming, and surrounded by the serenity of nature. I’ve stayed in many places across the country — but Beaver Lake Cottages truly stands out as one of the best stays I’ve ever had.

I will definitely be visiting again. If I could give more than five stars, I would....
