My husband and I did a spur of the moment getaway. Literally, 30 minutes after deciding to take off for the night I booked our stay. 10 minutes after I booked I got a text from Judy replying to my question in my online booking. I then asked her for dining recommendations in my text response and she immediately called me. We chatted about where to get take-out and she explained a bit further of how we would self-check in since the office was closed due to Covid19. We hung up and not 5 minutes later she called again to let me know she had spoken to the owner(?) who wanted us to be moved to one of their best cabins because there was a view of the lake from the hot-tub. A complimentary upgrade of course. We drove 4+ hours there from Hot Springs and it was nothing short of sublime. Gorgeous views from up high of the lake and mountains beyond. We had 6 or 7 deer grazing leisurely on the lawn below our deck. It was unseasonably chilly and we had a fire going all evening (and again at dawn when I awoke at 5:30 to watch the sunrise). The cabin itself was so spotless - I never walk around barefoot except at home - I was barefoot while in the cabin. We never did get to enjoy the hot-tub but it was MASSIVE and had a picture window the size of the wall next to it overlooking the lake and mountains. Judy's attention and graciousness were exceptional. As a luxury hotel owner, I know a bit about excellent guest attention and service - she epitomized it. I called her at one point while almost to the cabin because we were momentarily lost, and got voicemail. We were able to figure out our mistake but she called back within 90 seconds of missing my call to make sure we were okay. This place is a slice of heaven and we will return - for longer than 15 hours next time :) . Could not recommend it more highly....
Read moreHIGHLY RECOMMEND. We probably ought to keep this place a secret, but with the accommodations & service that we've come to appreciate & expect from this management & invested owners I'm motivated to reciprocate what this place does to contribute to my family's priceless memories in a very warm authentic accommodating manner. When we can take advantage of Spring Break this has been our choice on several occasions. There's just something immediately relaxing about the ambiance of a well decorated real log cabin. We instantly forget about the demands of life and simply melt into this experience. A fabulous environment to relax, recharge, relate, recuperate, re-orientate, re-dedicate, resuscitate, & much more, from modern busy lifestyles. Very nice modern amenities. Oh yeah, be prepared to exercise the other R word, responsiblity in tidying up the cabin prior to departure. No irresponsible disrespectful types invited. This all contributes to affordability of course. A great variety of movies & games are available. The Starkey Marina is quite accommodating with various boat rentals & freshly remodeled. If you don't find winding forest roads relaxing, then this place might not be the brew for you. Lots of wildlife including often herds of deer. A terrific variety of restaurants in nearby Eureka Springs. One of the best places for a easy-going road-trip with interesting destinations. Ask for Donna....
Read moreI have a hard time rating them less than 5 stars because we enjoyed our stay so much. We stayed in one of the lakeside cabins and we literally had the entire area to ourselves. We spent every evening on the dock just watching the sunset listening to the waves and enjoying a few drinks. We never saw another person. It was so peaceful and quiet it was almost unreal.
The dock was very nice but the access is via 43 steps down the side of a pretty steep incline. Not a problem but something to be aware of. Also the driveway down to the lake is fairly narrow and steep. It would be a pretty tight squeeze if you met anyone going the other way.
So the only knock I have is the cabin we were in was pretty dated. It was clean and we had everything we needed but it had a strange odor. The carpet was obviously very old and I suspect it has absorbed too much to get it cleaned completely. Despite multiple febreeze treatments I just couldn’t get past that smell. I suggest they replace the carpet with a laminate floor or LVP.
We will stay again but will probably try one of the upper cabins which have an amazing view...
