My family and I stayed at the St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA Holiday from September 3 to September 17, 2023. Our experience at this RV park was nothing short of exceptional, and we were truly enchanted by the serene atmosphere and the impeccable amenities offered.

One of the highlights of our stay was the friendly and attentive staff. From the moment we checked in, the team at the front desk made us feel welcome and provided us with valuable information about the park, as well as the local attractions and dining options. They were always ready to assist with a smile, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Our campsite, A2, was a spacious pull-through with full hook-ups, with a gravel area that had a picnic table and nearby grill/fire pit, was well-maintained and offered a perfect mix of shade and sunlight. It was mostly level though we did use leveling pads on the right side (our entry way) to add more support. The layout of the sites ensures a sense of privacy, and the lush greenery between spaces adds a touch of nature.

The amenities were truly exceptional, catering to a diverse range of campers, whether you're a solo traveler or a family with pets. The campground goes above and beyond in providing a comprehensive array of offerings to enhance your stay. From essential day-to-day conveniences like Cable TV, reliable Wi-Fi, clean and well-maintained bathrooms, showers, laundry room, to the added comfort of partial kitchens, on-site propane and firewood, a fully equipped conference room, and an enclosed KampK9 area for your pets to run around and play. You can tell that every aspect is designed with camper satisfaction in mind.

The campground's recreational facilities were excellent, offering something for everyone. Whether it was a dip in the sparkling heated pool, fun on the jumping pillow (this is a must try, we spent a lot of time bouncing away on it), a game of basketball, or horseshoes, bike rentals or a relaxing evening by the fire pit, there was always an opportunity to unwind and connect with fellow campers.

In addition to the fantastic on-site amenities, the proximity to St. Louis is perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat while still being within easy reach of the vibrant city of St. Louis. Nestled along the historic Route 66, the campground provides a nostalgic touch. It allowed us to explore the city's iconic landmarks, museums, and delicious culinary scene easily. The KOA's strategic location truly struck the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure.

Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time camper, this KOA is a must-visit destination along the...

We stayed at Site A08 (full hook-up) for 1 night. We cut our 7 - night stay very short due to it being very over crowded (it was Memorial weekend) and way over priced at $89 a night for a gravel site that was not level. Yes, we understand that the holiday weekend is expected to be busy but it was ridiculous. There were so many kids in the pool without supervision running, screaming, throwing various items and then adults under the influence at the pool, which led to a literal fist fight between two women. Like legit fist fight. There was zero supervision occurring at the pool, which there needed to be something in place for such a busy weekend. We cannot be positive but it appeared that locals come to use the pool as well. After the fight one of the women involved sped off and left the campground. ||Now that I think about it, maybe the fight was planned entertainment, totally joking. ||The staff we interacted with consisted mainly of very young people but they were friendly and accommodating. We did get an escort to our site. They did respond to the pool after the fist fight erupted but teenagers attempting to gather details from intoxicated adults leaves a lot to be desired. They did what they could though.||The bathroom facilities were decent considering how busy it was. There was minimal toilet paper in the stall but lots strewn on the ground of the men's bathroom. ||There were a lot of different activities planned during the weekend, however we did not participate due to the sheer volume of people and the length of our stay.||KOA Internet was practically non-existent. StarLink was a bust due to the tree obstructions however Verizon 5G Home Internet worked flawlessly as well as our AT&T cell service. ||At night a train and sirens can be heard. Not anything that the KOA can control but just something to note. ||The KOA is located about 30 mins from the Gateway Arch and the Botanical Garden.||Please follow our journey throughout the country. The KOA is easily accessible and easy to find. It's located very close to Six Flags. We arrived after hours, and check in was super easy, always appreciated! We stayed in the caboose, and here are my thoughts. Pro: its a caboose!! It's very cute and the interior is done in a very cute and stylish retro design. The beds are neat and comfortable, ample light and plenty of blankets, pillows, etc. The bathroom was neat and clean, towels and toiletries provided, if you need them. There is a small deck and grill off the back that overlooks the playground. There is a train that goes by which is fun when staying in a caboose, and we didn't find it to be too loud or disturbing. Cons: the shower is VERY slippery, with no handrails or grip at the bottom. Getting out of the shower I slipped and twisted my knee pretty badly. The shower was slippery getting into and moving around in while showering. It doesn't feel safe at all, and should at least have a safety bar OR some form of mat on the bottom of the tub. The other con is really not anything the campground can do a lot about, but there were a lot of 'stink bugs' in the caboose. They are perfectly harmless but they were kind of everywhere. I am not sure what exactly could fix the issue other than some form of trap for them. Would I stay again? Heck yeah! It's a caboose! And it's a lovely location, the staff was very nice when we checked out in the morning. As KOA campgrounds go, it tracks with the usual standards and upkeep. I did tell someone about the shower and was told the information would be passed on.
