My travel partner and I were on our way to Sequoia NP and decided to stop here for the night. The location can't be beat, as it is right outside the park. The man at the front desk wasn't very communicative. We tried to engage him in a little conversation, but he wasn't interested. We asked if we would be able to see any sequoia trees nearby in the morning and he said, "No, they keep those locked up in the park." Hahaha!! So, he does have a sense of humor, but really must be tired of dealing with customers or something. The room itself was OK. We got two beds and they were fine. The bathroom was less than fine - we both skipped using the shower because its cleanliness was questionable. The commode had a slow flush and we were almost afraid to use it, too. Our room was next to the big garage with all the washing machines, so we were able to sleep in total peace and quiet. In the morning, we walked down to the lobby for the "free breakfast". There were a couple of dry cereals, a container of milk left out on the counter, "coffee", a box of muffins from Costco, and a tray of literally expired oatmeal packets. I didn't realize the oatmeal was expired until I fixed my bowl and started eating it. I checked the packet and discovered the problem. No one from the motel was around, so I put all the other expired packets into the trash can to save another guest having to experience the taste I just went through. No one was around when we tried to check out. I tracked down one of the housekeepers and she was very nice. She went to the manager's suite to tell him and he told her we should just leave the keycard on the desk in the lobby. We told her we wanted to buy some postcards and she went back to the manager, who told her to tell us to leave the money on the desk. We felt a little weird about that, so we showed her how many postcards we were taking and how much money we were leaving, even though it wasn't her job to deal with us. We didn't see any bugs. All the wall pictures in the rooms are the same picture. The pool was closed. We traveled in October 2022.

Horrible motel. Don't stay here❗. Three rivers is a lovely little village and situated near Sequoia NP. Therefore the motel is probably always fully (pre)booked. If only people (like me) would have (pre)read the reviews 😏, they would have booked another motel. Our room numbers were S3-the luxe suite and S2-big room; we stayed there 2 nights. Here is our (negative) review: >It's smells like garbage in the rooms. The owner tried to mask the smell by opening all windows pre-arrival >The rooms are dirty. Our bare feet were black after walking on the floor for several minutes. > Cutlery was just plain dirty (no dishwasher) >The stove was dirty >The kitchenware was dirty (we planned to cook, but had to eat out) >There was no bbq, although advertised >There was no open hearth, although advertised >Swimming pool was not heated, although advertised >Swimming pool was dirty (bugs, leafs, stones, sand) >Pover breakfast (when it's gone it's gone) >Smelly reception >Lots of bugs outside >Noisy road >The room beneath us could see the bottom of our bath (Norman Bates vibes). >The room next to us was renovated from early in the morning untill late at night >The receptionist was a grumpy, smelly, smoking Pakistani that believed that the twin towers attack was a conspiracy. > Parking space is limited > Several lightbulbs were not functioning and after complaints not replaced > The stairs to the upper rooms are (to) small, dirty, rusty and dangerous > The (to) few towels had stains > The communal terrace (for breakfast, for example) was completely worn out. There was also a danger of tripping over splinters and rusty nails. > The smoke detector beeped over 48 hours (low battery). After complaints it was not replaced/fixed. > There's Construction and demolition waste and regular garbage all over the terrain. > No toiletpaper present at arrival. After complaint we received 1 rol voor 2 days for 9 persons So: DON'T GO HERE

Avoid this place if you don't want to spoil your trip. I tried to call ahead of time, but nobody answers the phone. We arrived at 2:45pm for check-in. The person was very unfriendly and even rude. The office had a bad odor, so we for sure was not going to eat breakfast there. We dropped the bags in the room and run for the Sequoia National Park hoping to catch them open. We returned after 8:00pm to find out that bedding was not changed, the TV has not remote control, the couch and the chairs by the table were dirty, the room has cockroaches and bad odor. I didn't want to drag my wife and my little daughter looking for hotel in the middle of the night. I went to the office to ask for another room, the person said they were all occupied. Then I asked for clean bedding and he brought one bedsheet ( even he knew there were two beds in the room). I reminded him that there was two beds, and he returned and brought another bedsheet! I reminded him that each bed needs two bedsheets, then he announced that will not return again for me. I requested my money back and cancel the reservation, he closed the office door in my face and shouted from inside that the office is closed. We decided to sleep somewhere else. Left the place disgusted and offended. About 10 years ago we stayed here because it's close to Sequoia National Park. Back then the place was kept clean, the staff was friendly, apparently under different management/ownership. I recommend everyone to avoid this place if they don't want to spoil their trip.

Before I go into detail, I wanted to point out that if you are expecting the city life with Hilton hotels, you have exceeded your expectations because you will not be getting that at all staying in the town of Three Rivers. Three Rivers is a small town/village in the middle of the mountains. You will see bugs, insects , animals, and so on. So yes ,bugs like cockroaches will be visible on the premises and maybe in the bathroom. My room was not infested with bugs, but , on my last night (yesterday), there was one in the restroom. They are the big roaches that come out of drains , very typical. We should be scared of the little ones that hide in bags, blankets , clothes , etc.

Sierra Lodge is not modern looking (yes, very antiquated: old-fashioned/out dated), but, it’s comfortable enough to rest. However, the AC was complicated. For example, it would stay on the whole day, but it would turn on and off at night. It was tripping, for sure. It seems like the AC’s might be programmed like that because during the day it would stay on cooling the room with no problem. By 9 pm, that’s when the struggle started :/ they should be controlling them during the day when people are out and about , not at night when it’s hot and a cool room is necessary for sleep.

Our room was clean. I read that the rooms smelled a lot like pine sol, but, it all depends on a persons tolerance of scents and fragrances . The smell eventually left the room. Knowing the floors were cleaned, was good enough for me. They have housekeeping in the morning. The housekeeper left clean towels everyday, and tidied up the room.

Sierra Lodge is a good location for sure , not far at all from Sequoia National Park. The price was fair. Very economical compared to other lodges and resorts in town….

Would I stay here again ? That’s a big I don’t know! and it’s all because of the AC. The problem with the AC was the biggest turn off cuz during the summer time it’s necessary. If the AC wasn’t problematic, I would considering staying here again.

The guy at the front desk is not very involved with guests. He isn’t the most friendliest person either. He disappears. It’s hard to locate him. I have a feeling he does that so he doesn’t have to deal with complaints lol. I did like that he is not micromanaging like how many motels/hotels staff can be tho.

I give the pool a 4/5 cuz it only needed some cleaning cuz of some floating hair and bugs. Other than that, the water and floor of the pool was blue and clean.

Overall, I recommend staying in the town of Three Rivers if your objective is to visit Sequoia, however , staying at the Sierra Lodge might not be the best for those who don’t come from a humbling upbringing. If you expect something fancy , this place isn't...

DO NOT STAY HERE – Completelely Unprofessional & Misleading

We booked this hotel five months in advance and did everything possible to confirm our stay before arriving. Days ahead, we tried multiple phone numbers listed on their website and reservation details—none of them worked. One led to a voicemail box that wasn’t set up, and another connected us to a completely different business trying to sell insurance.

The property advertises breakfast, but after finally getting in touch with a staff member (via a personal cell number that a friend had to give us), we were told they do not actually provide breakfast. The employee, Jose, apologized and said they were “working on updating that.” He also told us he would leave our keys and room info in an envelope outside the office since we were arriving late. That seemed fine at the time.

After traveling from Michigan to California, flying into San Francisco, and then driving 4+ hours, we arrived at the property exhausted after 18–20+ hours of travel. There was no envelope, no keys, and no staff in sight. When we called Jose, he told us the front desk should still be open—it wasn’t. We rang the office ring doorbell and eventually got a response from a staff member who had already gone home. At first she claimed she didn’t see our reservation, then suddenly “found” it and said she’d need 20+ minutes to drive back.

Instead, Jose had to contact a cleaning staff member to let us in. She was kind and apologetic, but here’s where things went from bad to worse: the room we were assigned was already occupied. We walked into our “suite” only to find another set of guests who were just as confused—they had originally reserved a standard room but were mistakenly given our suite earlier that evening.

When we explained this to the cleaning staff, she tried to make it right by offering a one-night stay in a cabin, but our reservation was for two nights and they could not accommodate us beyond the first night. At that point, exhausted and frustrated, we requested a full refund. Thankfully it was issued, but that didn’t make up for the stress, the complete lack of organization, and the fact that we were left scrambling late at night to find a new hotel at inflated prices.

We ended up driving about 30 minutes to a Hampton Inn, where we were immediately accommodated—and even given a discount to make up for this disaster of an experience.

Bottom line: This hotel is misleading in its advertising, unorganized in its operations, and unreliable when it comes to basic hospitality. We did our part by booking early and reconfirming, only to be left stranded. Save yourself the headache—stay...

I booked this room not expecting a lot. What I did expect was an older place that probably was a bit dated yet clean. I only need somewhere to lay my head. ||But…..what I got was a rundown room that needs MAJOR repairs. ||* The floor was literally squishy as it it was wet underneath. There were certain spots that almost felt like it was about to fall in. Or possibly the sub flooring underneath was swollen from water damage. Many areas were like this. ||* We had one wash cloth for our two night visit for two people. When we asked for more the response we got was that the washing machine was broken. No sorry no nothing. Basically they couldn’t help us. And the hand towel that we did get as well as the bath mat had dark stains on them. They were gross. ||* The window blinds were missing pieces which meant even when the blinds were closed there were gaps and we couldn’t even close the windows the entire way. The light from outside was EXTREMELY bright at night and it was difficult to sleep. ||* The air condition unit was a window unit that was old and didn’t work properly. We were so hot. And it was right above the bed. Very strange location to have it above our heads. ||* The room was rather large and the tv was mounted above the fire place but it was so small it was hard to see from the couch. It was oddly small for the room. ||* The floors were filthy dirty. Our socks were BLACK after a few minutes of walking around. Very gross. ||* The breakfast was not appetizing. The oatmeal packet that I grabbed had hard clumps and felt like it was several years old. I didn’t eat it. I wouldn’t eat the cereal or even try it because the milk was a gallon just sitting on the counter all morning. Not even in the Refrigerator. I did try the coffee one morning but it was gross and burnt. ||* Walls we’re so paper thin that the people next door were talking in a normal voice and we could hear them clearly. ||* On a side note. The place is so old and outdated that the rooms were marked with a sharpee. We had room H written by a sharpie. Can you get any more tacky?||This has potential due to being in a beautiful location and so close to the Sequoia National Park. But it needs serious updates. ||I do...
