Before I go into detail, I wanted to point out that if you are expecting the city life with Hilton hotels, you have exceeded your expectations because you will not be getting that at all staying in the town of Three Rivers. Three Rivers is a small town/village in the middle of the mountains. You will see bugs, insects , animals, and so on. So yes ,bugs like cockroaches will be visible on the premises and maybe in the bathroom. My room was not infested with bugs, but , on my last night (yesterday), there was one in the restroom. They are the big roaches that come out of drains , very typical. We should be scared of the little ones that hide in bags, blankets , clothes , etc.
Sierra Lodge is not modern looking (yes, very antiquated: old-fashioned/out dated), but, it’s comfortable enough to rest. However, the AC was complicated. For example, it would stay on the whole day, but it would turn on and off at night. It was tripping, for sure. It seems like the AC’s might be programmed like that because during the day it would stay on cooling the room with no problem. By 9 pm, that’s when the struggle started :/ they should be controlling them during the day when people are out and about , not at night when it’s hot and a cool room is necessary for sleep.
Our room was clean. I read that the rooms smelled a lot like pine sol, but, it all depends on a persons tolerance of scents and fragrances . The smell eventually left the room. Knowing the floors were cleaned, was good enough for me. They have housekeeping in the morning. The housekeeper left clean towels everyday, and tidied up the room.
Sierra Lodge is a good location for sure , not far at all from Sequoia National Park. The price was fair. Very economical compared to other lodges and resorts in town….
Would I stay here again ? That’s a big I don’t know! and it’s all because of the AC. The problem with the AC was the biggest turn off cuz during the summer time it’s necessary. If the AC wasn’t problematic, I would considering staying here again.
The guy at the front desk is not very involved with guests. He isn’t the most friendliest person either. He disappears. It’s hard to locate him. I have a feeling he does that so he doesn’t have to deal with complaints lol. I did like that he is not micromanaging like how many motels/hotels staff can be tho.
I give the pool a 4/5 cuz it only needed some cleaning cuz of some floating hair and bugs. Other than that, the water and floor of the pool was blue and clean.
Overall, I recommend staying in the town of Three Rivers if your objective is to visit Sequoia, however , staying at the Sierra Lodge might not be the best for those who don’t come from a humbling upbringing. If you expect something fancy , this place isn't...

We booked this hotel five months in advance and did everything possible to confirm our stay before arriving. Days ahead, we tried multiple phone numbers listed on their website and reservation details—none of them worked. One led to a voicemail box that wasn’t set up, and another connected us to a completely different business trying to sell insurance.
The property advertises breakfast, but after finally getting in touch with a staff member (via a personal cell number that a friend had to give us), we were told they do not actually provide breakfast. The employee, Jose, apologized and said they were “working on updating that.” He also told us he would leave our keys and room info in an envelope outside the office since we were arriving late. That seemed fine at the time.
After traveling from Michigan to California, flying into San Francisco, and then driving 4+ hours, we arrived at the property exhausted after 18–20+ hours of travel. There was no envelope, no keys, and no staff in sight. When we called Jose, he told us the front desk should still be open—it wasn’t. We rang the office ring doorbell and eventually got a response from a staff member who had already gone home. At first she claimed she didn’t see our reservation, then suddenly “found” it and said she’d need 20+ minutes to drive back.
Instead, Jose had to contact a cleaning staff member to let us in. She was kind and apologetic, but here’s where things went from bad to worse: the room we were assigned was already occupied. We walked into our “suite” only to find another set of guests who were just as confused—they had originally reserved a standard room but were mistakenly given our suite earlier that evening.
When we explained this to the cleaning staff, she tried to make it right by offering a one-night stay in a cabin, but our reservation was for two nights and they could not accommodate us beyond the first night. At that point, exhausted and frustrated, we requested a full refund. Thankfully it was issued, but that didn’t make up for the stress, the complete lack of organization, and the fact that we were left scrambling late at night to find a new hotel at inflated prices.
We ended up driving about 30 minutes to a Hampton Inn, where we were immediately accommodated—and even given a discount to make up for this disaster of an experience.
Bottom line: This hotel is misleading in its advertising, unorganized in its operations, and unreliable when it comes to basic hospitality. We did our part by booking early and reconfirming, only to be left stranded. Save yourself the headache—stay...
Read moreI booked this room not expecting a lot. What I did expect was an older place that probably was a bit dated yet clean. I only need somewhere to lay my head. ||But…..what I got was a rundown room that needs MAJOR repairs. ||* The floor was literally squishy as it it was wet underneath. There were certain spots that almost felt like it was about to fall in. Or possibly the sub flooring underneath was swollen from water damage. Many areas were like this. ||* We had one wash cloth for our two night visit for two people. When we asked for more the response we got was that the washing machine was broken. No sorry no nothing. Basically they couldn’t help us. And the hand towel that we did get as well as the bath mat had dark stains on them. They were gross. ||* The window blinds were missing pieces which meant even when the blinds were closed there were gaps and we couldn’t even close the windows the entire way. The light from outside was EXTREMELY bright at night and it was difficult to sleep. ||* The air condition unit was a window unit that was old and didn’t work properly. We were so hot. And it was right above the bed. Very strange location to have it above our heads. ||* The room was rather large and the tv was mounted above the fire place but it was so small it was hard to see from the couch. It was oddly small for the room. ||* The floors were filthy dirty. Our socks were BLACK after a few minutes of walking around. Very gross. ||* The breakfast was not appetizing. The oatmeal packet that I grabbed had hard clumps and felt like it was several years old. I didn’t eat it. I wouldn’t eat the cereal or even try it because the milk was a gallon just sitting on the counter all morning. Not even in the Refrigerator. I did try the coffee one morning but it was gross and burnt. ||* Walls we’re so paper thin that the people next door were talking in a normal voice and we could hear them clearly. ||* On a side note. The place is so old and outdated that the rooms were marked with a sharpee. We had room H written by a sharpie. Can you get any more tacky?||This has potential due to being in a beautiful location and so close to the Sequoia National Park. But it needs serious updates. ||I do...
