This review is for UPPER STONY CREEK campground which is across the street from the Stony Creek campground. Our family camped at sites #2, #3, #4 and #5. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. The forest around the campground is beautiful, the air smells great and you can hear the water running at the nearby stream. Our campsites were decent sizes, the picnic tables were in good condition and the fire pits were great. We saw zero bears while we were there, but there were deer in our campsites every single night! So, that was cool. The nearby stream is right next to the campground, so that is awesome, but the water is super cold. If you are a guy, be prepared for shrinkage. The campsite is about five minutes from a store, restaurant and showers. The final awesome thing about this campsite is that it is easy access to both Kings Canyon and Sequoia parks. There are only two downfalls with this campsite. First, the toilets are vault toilets. The campsite employees do a great job keeping the bathrooms clean, but it doesn't stop the flies from filling up the bathroom by late afternoon. Not all campers close the toilet lid and bathroom door like they should which leads to flies. Second, the roads are all dirt, so when people drive to/from their sites, there will be dust in the air. It isn't horrible, but...

In August 2018 Mybride and I stayed for 2 weeks in C, a walk in site. We had reserved a site in Lower Stony Creek so we would be assured of having a place to sleep after the drive from San Diego. We were happy to get there but not very excited about the usual campground scene, some people playing music, not much privacy, and not close to any special features. I was getting the tent set up when two angels approached, Tasha and Donnie, the camp hosts. Tasha sensed our reservations and suggested we move up to the best site in the campground, walk in site C. It was awesome, relatively private, next to swimming hole, and about a 90 second walk to our car. I think it is a first come first serve site. There are 3 walk in sites and the other two are also better than the standard sites imho. There are plenty of non reserve sites nearby, Big Meadow, so next time we won’t worry about being sure to reserve something ahead of time. My favorite hike was behind the Stony Creek Lodge parking lot. We found it by accident and I don’t think it is published. It’s about 2 miles to a beautiful set of swimming pools where Stoney Creek and another creek meet,...

Nice quite campground. Went over the july 4th weekend. Camp sites were clean. Wasnt overly packed given the holiday. Very nice view. Only downside was the dirt. Made for a dusty trip. But my 6 month old n frenchie enjoyed all of the views and the creek right behind the camp site we were at. Will go back for sure n venture out more n up stream. Fishing wasn't the best unfortunately. But still had fun teaching the little ones the ropes. Camp master was also very pleasant and...

Very nice campground. Bathroom was a little dirty but that’s very hard to maintain with the septic hole. Kids enjoy Animals near by and Mother Nature in general. Tons of shade and a freezing cold swimming hole near by. Doable in the summer time but as it gets colder is probably just a bigger challenge. Be prepared to be off grid 100% unless you have Starlink you are not getting signal at all.
