The check-in process was super easy and quick but then you get sent over to the concierge desk to get your "customized welcome packet". There was nothing custom about our welcome packet....they did however give me a coffee mug with candy for mother's day which was nice. The concierge desk is the first line of sales pitches. They offered us a guaranteed $75 AE gift card OR you could gamble & spin the barrel of gift cards & possibly get $50-$1k...of course we got $50(so did everyone else we talked with while there on vacation). There probably wasn't really a $1k card in there but we took our chances. Then they said Justin Pearson(sales man) had a welcome breakfast set up for the following morning but we had to PAY $20 to ensure they didn't waste the food.
Then she proceeded to tell us all that was INCLUDED with our stay at the resort. She drew on the printed map where things were & hours. Half of the places were NOT where she said they were & the hours were incorrect. The ONLY THING that was truly included in our stay was the indoor pool. The outdoor pools were closed so i cannot speak on whether or not we would have been charged an entry fee. The mini golf course was not well maintained nor would it have been worth $20 a round. We have 2 young children & they wanted to play everyday, that would've been $120. Needless to say the only thing we did was go swimming. We bought some frisbees & played in the grassy areas & walked on some of the trails but most of the time we had to go off property to find something to do.
Concierge also gave us a list of restaurants that we could use our amenities card to get a discount at, NONE of which actually gave us discounts once we went there. One restaurant manager told us they quit doing Wyndham discounts a long time ago as they would have to discount 90% of their business bc a good bit of people come from Wyndham or work there, which makes sense but its terrible to be guaranteed that & then it be false.
Our room was excellent & exactly what we were expecting per reservation. Our kids were amazed by the pull out sofa(they'd never seen/used one before).
We went the following morning to have breakfast & were greated by a young lady telling us "i think we have breakfast left in there"...the food was subpar to say the least. We knew right away just by the room they took us in to eat that this was going to be a sales presentation & before we could even barely get started eating our LEFT OVER cold breakfast the same girl that greated us came in and started the presentation & was asking us questions...when we didn't answer quick enough she gave us the answer to the question & acted as if we should have known the answer.
To cut this horrific "welcome breakfast" story short, we were taken from the room where we ate to the sales room, were sat down & the sales pitches & phrases started spewing out left and right. We told Justin several times we were not interested in upgrading nor buying anything but he insisted on asking & trying to get us to bite. We explained very clearly WHY we did not CHOOSE to buy anything & then in one final effort he asked me about one of my tattoos. It's the coordinates of my fathers GRAVESITE. He had the NERVE & AUDACITY to say "well if you could take just one more vacation with your dad where would it be" It took everything i had not to curse him out, grab my things & my children and walk out...keep your measly $50 AE gift card! But DO NOT bring up my late father as a ploy to try & sell me something that we stated numerous times that we didn't want! I was so angry I had tears in my eyes & wanted to go back to our room, pack up & leave, who cares about the points we would have lost etc.
If this is what we are going to go through every time we check in to a resort to use our points as a member, we will just let our points go to waste. I will NEVER FORGET his name Justin Pearson, & I hope he can live with the fact that he brought up a deceased person as a sales tactic, knowing that someone life/death is nothing to use against someone in anyway...
Read moreOh where should I start? Our vacation was supposed to be a week long vacation but was cut short due to multiple reasons.... night one... we were placed in oak knoll... we had an issue with cockroaches 😢 we went to the front desk and made a complaint... they asked if they could come in and exterminate, we were okay with this as I don't do bugs at all! The next day we got a call for a so called 90 minute timeshare presentation. I agreed but had I known it was going to take 4 hours I would have turned it down as it cut into our vacation plans that were in Gatlinburg a few hours away.... they came with a price that was out of what I wanted to spend... (Almost $300.00 a month) and they continued to try to pressure me into buying this said timeshare.... when we finally were able to get out of there it put us in Gatlinburg way later then I would have liked. The next day we decided to stay local and go to the pool/hot tub area where after about 30 minutes of 4 children jumping in and out of the lap area, running the pool edge and just being unruly (mother no where to be found) we decided to get ready to leave when their mother came in and screamed at the pool attendant because she kept yelling at her children to stop running and jumping in the pool. Once we got back to our condo there were 4 cockroaches in and around the kitchen area... I was able to kill one and the rest ran, I took it up to the front desk wrapped in a paper towel and Brian (the night mgr so I was told) thought it was funny! He kept arguing saying it was a tree roach when clearly he didn't look at it and it definitely was not a tree roach. He stated that the "roaches" come in due to the fireplace (that we never used!) He asked if we wanted to check out because at this point his laughter was uncalled for... And yes, I was ready to leave.... but instead due to how late it was opted for his other option to be moved... well I sure wasn't going to stay in a cockroach infested condo! He gave us a $25.00 gift card for "our" troubles of having to pack up move, wash all our belongings as I was NOT going to bring them home with me! I was livid at this point and just told my fiance we would talk to someone in the morning. So we got up Wednesday morning and spoke with the people in the office which they agreed they were infact cockroaches and said they had problems reported before of them being in those condos. They stated that the owner/head supervisor would call me Wednesday or Thursday well, it is now Friday and I have yet to hear from him....at this point we will not go back to this resort! But i thought I would come on and do this review and let others who come here know about our issues as I would not want to take home cockroaches and I am sure the next family wouldn't want that either! Have a blessed evening! EDIT: I did try to call that phone number to contact someone they told me they made note of things and then transferred me to the condo resort itself and they told me they couldn't help me.... my name and number is in their system if they wanted to call me to so call "make it right" they would...

The lakes are stocked and awesome for fishing or stand up paddleboarding or kayaking/canoeing. It is huge there! You will need a car or transportation. My family, 2 adults and 2 kids (7/9) went during the 4th and they had a wonderful fireworks.
A few reasons for the lower stars. Upon check in, I was sent to the concierge, I assume because I came with a vacation club reservation. They preceeded to invite me to a "free" breakfast or lunch and offered very good incentives as a "thank you". It is hard for me to say no, but I agreed... and then was asked for a deposit ($10/person I assume as there was four of us and it was $40) that would be refunded when I came to breakfast. I knew this "thank you" was a timeshare ploy, although never disclosed to me- but I figured I would hear them out. We wake up and head to breakfast, watch a presentation, get with a lovely young woman to discuss- and they dropped the bomb that the 400,000 points (40 nights a year at -what is my understanding- less popular areas, it seems more desirable destinations/accommodations are more) is for over $73,000! We were offered a "try it plan" for much less which my husband and I wanted to consider, however that was not an option. The young lady understood that we are in no position to do that-- and then reinforcement came in. 😒 The second sales pitch was even more annoying. Needless to say, I fought off a panic attack after 2 hours of this 1.5hr commitment and just before walking away- they did indeed hold up their end of the incentive. So they did hold their word-- it just absolutely comes at a price- time and frustration you will never get back! The pushiness of the second guy really added to the lowering of stars and the fact that I was charged the $40 for breakfast- which was not a pending charge like check it- it went through. So I did pay for that.
With that being said, the community reflects the price point. You can absolutely tell who resides or "owns a vacation"- we felt uncomfortable just walking into the onsite restaurant and immediately walked out.
There aren't a lot of food choices around- and the ones that are aren't open. There are also no touristy attractions, so if that is your thing, this is not the place for you.
Lastly, this is basically a retirement community. If you are older and enjoy a lot to do on-site then this might be a good place for you. As far as families, there are a lot of things to do, but you may not be welcomed at all of them.
Despite it all, it is a beautiful place and we made the best of it and had...
