We stayed at Autocamp Cape Cod a week ago, and we are still reeling with nostalgia from our trip! Everything about our stay (with two adults and one medium-sized french bulldog) was perfect--so much so, that we extended our vacation while we were there.
For starters, the location could not be more perfect. It is located near all of the hot spots: the beaches, the Martha's Vineyard "Island Queen" Ferry, and popular restaurants and bars. Almost everything on our Falmouth bucket list was able to be reached by bike, which Autocamp graciously offers 2 hours of a free ride on the bikes they offer. For $25 we could include a covered wagon on the back of the bicycle so that our pup could join our rides, although I would assume most would use this feature for their child :). Apart from having access to the island's bike path directly from the campground, we found the camp itself to be a refreshing retreat with a lot of green spaces for both humans and pets, and a clean and comforting common space full of board games, yard games, and more.
The staff (THE STAFF!!!! seriously all of them were amazing) made this experience one of our favorites, and were a big part of us adding nights onto our stay. Pete is by far the best hotel staff member we have encountered and we have adventured all over the world. He makes your stay feel so personal, like you are the only one on site. Pete is like a a warm, hospitable Airbnb host. He offered us an entire list of places to eat, and explore, and tailored the list to which items would be pet friendly. May- October most beaches on Cape Cod do not allow pets, but Pete gave us a "hidden" spot with beautiful views of water and sailboats that allowed dogs and we ended up having what felt like a private island experience away from crowds. Elyssana (I hope I spelled their name right) was another staff member that deserves a shout out! Elyssana was kind and welcoming, but also cool under pressure. Many nights at Autocamp include activities for guests such as trivia, movie night, and live music, all of which can sometimes bring large groups of kids and families. Elyssana was a pro at keeping up with the kids while maintaining composure and friendliness. The cleaning staff was also on point. Our Airstream was very clean and bug-free upon arrival which is hard to do with an outdoor camper. They make their rounds frequently and refreshed our towels when needed.
This has turned into an essay so I will end it here, but I could type two more pages about how great our stay was!! Autocamp offered a unique stay that impressed us after searching many weeks for a reasonably priced, last-minute stay (with a dog) which was a nearly impossible search for summer in the Cape Cod/ Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket area. We found ourselves multiple times saying "I'm so glad we chose this over a house or hotel" because, now, part of the vacation was also a full experience staying in the Airstream. You receive all of the benefits of a hotel, but with a childlike camp feeling that left us feeling rejuvenated. Our only complaint is that the camp was missing a pool, but now we will just have to try their other locations that...
Read moreUnfortunately auto camp dropped the ball…. so bad today for us. We are repeat guests. This would have been our 4th summer getting two campers for three nights. Our kids LOVE this place and we always had too. We booked in March they had our full payment. So we started getting emails in late June that our room was canceled “due to the property no longer being available”. I called them about this and the front desk staff told me that our reservation was fine, and they expected us in late July for 3 nights as we had booked. I also asked if they were sold out that weekend or did they have rooms, and I was told that they had availability. Then we got another text email… so I called AGAIN to check… and I was told by the front desk once again that our reservation was good and set and she said they’d been getting many phone calls about this and that it was probably a scam. That honestly made a lot more sense to me than a hotel charging me in full back in March and then giving me 35 days notice that our reservation was released. After I’d booked plane tickets and a VRBO on the cape that ended the day we check into auto camp. So I continued to ignore all the emails and texts referencing an auto camp cancel since the front desk told me twice not to worry about it and that it was some kind of scam. This was all booked on a family members Credit card that I had no access to tracking refunds etc. then we get to today check in day and I call the confirm check in time… Donald at front desk says “you guys have been canceled and we refunded you” I start explaining the whole story of what his front desk staff had told me on two different occasions and how we are expecting Two airstreams today after flights and VRBOs have also been booked according to auto camp dates. He responds with “The front desk staff don’t have the full story of the reservations spreadsheet and we are terribly sorry you got incorrect information.” I’m like how do you run a hotel business where people answering the phone don’t understand who has a room and who does not?! And who accepts full payment only to cancel 35 days out? And then lead customers to believe they are not canceled. My kids are crying today because they did not get to go to auto camp, my sister is driving home early and we are still deciding what to do. He did call around to find us rooms and all he could find was $660 a night rooms at Sea Crest. Thanks Auto camp! So all we got for this BS inconvenience was our full refund. Which does not make up for this massive inconvenience. Clearly their corporate groups are valued more than their...
Read moreMy partner and I had the pleasure of being the first ever Hilton Honors guest to stay at the Autocamp brand. We were interested in trying out Autocamp ever since we saw the partnership news back in February so we really lucked out when Autocamp decided that their first partnership location was going to be Cape Cod — our closest Autocamp location. We were swiftly checked in at the Clubhouse and the Assistant General Manager and many other front desk staff came out after finding out that we were the hilton guests. One of the staff members then walked us through the all the amenities offered at the Clubhouse which included board games you can rent as well as basic camping goods for purchase. The Autocamp diamond member benefit was a free S’mores kit. I do wish that it was just a $15-$20 credit we could use at the general store, but it was appreciated regardless! Gold members and Diamond members both receive a free bundle of firewood as well which was very nice. We then made our way to our Airstream and was so surprised by how spacious and well done the interior was. While the space was small it felt like a regular hotel room. We also found a bunch of Autocamp goodies they placed on the coffee table, presumably to celebrate the first ever hilton stay done on the chain. Maybe there was some bias because we were such special guests but the hospitality/service here was one of the best I’ve ever had. They were always so attentive whenever we were in the clubhouse and always checked in to make sure that we had everything we needed. The part I was most impressed by was when I ran into one of the hotel staff at the local grocery store and he greeted me, saw that we were buying meat, and told the staff on property to start the campfire for us so we can cook. We didn’t know about this and was very pleasantly surprised when we saw a campfire going. On top of the room and the hospitality, here are some fantastic aspects about this property: It is directly connected to the Shining Sea Bike Trail, which is a beautiful and flat trail with a beach view. Bikes were provided for free for 2 hours! It was less than a 10 minute drive away from Woods Hole, where you can find some good restaurants as well as the ferry that leaves to Martha’s Vineyard. 5 minute drive to WM and two other grocery stores and they are all stocked with camping stuff, in case you find the Clubhouse goods a little overpriced. 10/10!! A solid points redemption too! It was a great experience and I highly...
