I really don't have any positive things to say about Happy Bear cabin. We have been coming to Cook Forest with other families for the past 34 years. We have stayed in many places in the area, and this was by far the worst experience we have had. First, we had trouble just getting into the cabin. I used the 4 digit code on the lock as the instructions said, and it didn't work. It turned out that the door lock code was never changed from the previous guest and it took a couple of trips back and forth between the cabin and the Fun Park (there is no actual office for the cabins) before we got it straightened out. That would not have been a really a big deal had the cabin not been so terrible. The cabin was way smaller than it looked in the pictures, and the loft "bedroom" was totally misrepresented. The pictures were deceiving and it was not at all clear that the ceiling was only 4 feet high. Why they would have built it that way boggles the mind. They should have clearly stated on their website that the ceiling is low. If it had, I would never had booked this cabin. Many of our extended family have been using these cabins for our annual family reunion for many years now, and I have been in a few of those with lofts and none of the ones I saw had low ceilings. My son, his wife and their infant child were staying with us and they could not use the loft due to the baby. So my wife and I, who are both elderly, had to use that ridiculous loft. It was torture every night trying to get in that bed, and like wise getting back down again. In addition the hot water was terrible. When taking a shower it was very intermittent. It kept going cold and then hot again every few minutes. I also had a problem with the cost. I know for a fact that many of the other cabins that are far larger were only about $100 more per week than Happy Bear. Given the state of the cabin, it should have cost far less than it did. Needless to say I will never being using these...

Our recent stay at Sleepy Bear Cabins in Cook Forest was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the charm, cleanliness, and comfort that these cozy cabins offer. Nestled deep in the serene beauty of the forest, the experience truly exceeded our expectations in every way.
The Rooms: The cabin we stayed in was immaculate. It felt like a perfect blend of rustic woodland charm and modern convenience. Everything was well-maintained, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully stocked. The beds were incredibly comfortable – we all slept like bears! Whether we were lounging around in the cozy living space or enjoying a quiet moment on the porch with a cup of coffee, every corner of the cabin felt welcoming and peaceful. And the WiFi? INSANELY GOOD !
Service: The service here deserves a 10/10. The hosts were absolutely wonderful – super friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about making sure guests have a top-tier experience. Check-in was smooth, and we felt genuinely cared for throughout our stay. They even had little touches around the property that made us feel extra welcome.
Location: What a beautiful spot! You're tucked away in the heart of Cook Forest, surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of nature. It’s incredibly peaceful but still close enough to everything you’d want to do—hiking trails, kayaking, local shops, and scenic drives. It's the perfect getaway location for anyone looking to unplug, recharge, and connect with nature.

Read moreWe stayed at Tiny Bear with our little doggie over the weekend. Cabin was very clean and well taken care of. It's super small and cozy for just 2 and a pup. Bed is full size so that was a switch going from King size. Bed was super comfortable though! There were little bags of snacks and some pop and juice in the fridge which was nice. Hot tub was OK, it was a nice feature to have though. My only complaint is the give you firewood, and it's quite a bit, but the have the fire pit set up to burn super hot and the wood is really dry so we used it all in one night. Next day went to purchase more, which they tell you that when you book. OK, fine, I have no problem paying for more wood. What I have a problem with is I had to transport my firewood I just paid $25 for back to my cabin and unload it by ourselves in my brand new car! You have all kinds of golf carts, 4 wheelers and other equipment there that you could haul the wood up to the cabin I rented from you. It was very inconsiderate to make a guest haul firewood up in their own vehicle. If I had a pick up it wouldn't have been a problem but a 2 month old SUV was ridiculous. We have been to many campgrounds and we have never had to do that. Therefore I doubt if I would rent from them again...especially for the rate. I can go without the hot tub, we have...
