This is an awesome resort - they have everything a person would want! Cabins (of course) but also all the "toys" a person would need for a summer vacation. Paul and Deb Ness are great hosts and will help you with anything you need.

We had our vacation plans drsmatically changed due to sugar ants...||||In July 2011 we had a sugar ant problem coupled with rusty water.  Through that week we asked that the ant and water problem be handled several times.  We were handed ant bait and told the rusty water problem would be taken care of.  The ants and rusty water were both there when we left.||||During the week were were there, it was hell...  We battled ants and rusty water. My wife and daughter in particular were upset.  Who can blame them as we all killed ants that were crawling on the table, the counter, the furniture, and my children.  We resorted to taking our food in and out of the cabin between meals via a tub so that the ants could not get into it.||||Why do I have to do this when I am staying in a $2000 a week cabin?  ||||When we left in July 2011, I told the owner that this was unacceptable and he promised to fix both issues by the time we returned in July 2012.  I told him we would come back as long as the ant and water issues were taken care of.  He promised both would be.  I also strongly recommended that he seal the crack. He said he would do so.||||Fast forward to July 2012.  We arrived late in the day as we typically do.  We were tired and moved quickly to unload the food from the car to the cabin.  It never dawned on me to check for the sugar ants. I trusted the problem would be resolved as promised.||||As I was bringing in the third or fourth load from the car, I saw my son jump up from the couch and begin vigorously brushing something off his leg as he screamed.  I asked him what was wrong and he said he felt something crawling on him.  Then my wife turned on all the lights and screamed, "There are ants all over the floor!"||||We shot plenty of video to document the ants (as we did in 2011).  The crack was still there and there ants everywhere!||||I then went to the registration desk and asked to speak with the owners.  They were out of town but called in to speak with me.  I told the owner that we could not stay there and we were leaving.  He said we (the customer paying $2000 for the week) could lay out ant traps and I told him that was unacceptable and that he knew we were extremely upset about the ants last year.||||We ended up driving 90 minutes back to Fargo and stayed in a hotel because all the rooms were booked in the lake area.||||The next day the owner called me and apologized and told me that he had laid traps down and we could come back.  I cannot believe he actually thought we would be fine with that.  That approach clearly did not work last year.  I told him the only thing that he obviously had an ant infestation and the only thing that would work is a professional exterminator and we did not want to be in the cabin any time during an extermination.  We agreed to speak soon after.||||Upon sharing that we would not return to the cabin, his tone changed.  The owner said that we would be charged because we did not give him 30 days notice.  How does one give 30 days notice on a sugar ant problem that was a repeat problem from the prior year?  He then proceeded to tell me and my wife (speakerphone) that he saw two ants on the floor and that the cabin was "clean and ready for your family."||||When I pressed him further he then stated several times that all of the other cabins had ants and no one had an issue with it.||||Really.||||If you plan to stay here, and sugar ants are an issue, you may want to call ahead.  The owner admits they have ants in every cabin.||||We will not be back. Oh yeah. And we will be...

Very disappointed in our stay. our cabin needed some TLC before being rented out. It was suppose to fit 6 people, the hide-a-bed couch was terrible. another couple that stayed with us sleep in their car. Our room had a bad smell like desiel or bug spray. woke up the next morning with a head ache and swollen eyes. went to fine the owner but he wasn't around left a message for him. had to go back to the office later. He said "oh yea was headed that way" he took a look and yes he knew about the smell but didn't know what it was either. "just open up your windows and use a fan, is what he told us. which he opened up the windows and put a fan in the room.||There were no dish rags or towels to wash the dishes that was expected of us. Our other family members had a cabin and it was fine. They paid the same rate as we did. I understand they were filled, but not being able to stay in our cabin, i fell we should have at least got a discount., or something. I do not recommend this place unless you can inspect your...

Our family has been booking our vacation at The Lodge on Ottertail for the past 14 years. Our boys always looked forward to spending time in the lake swimming and enjoying the activities that the Lodge has to offer; not to mention the Great fishing! The cabins are clean and very comfortable. The owners of the Lodge make you feel SO welcome and make you feel comfortable and part of their family. We still go even tho our kids are adults and they join us when they are able, because they want their families to have the same experience. The Lodge on Ottertail is a vacation spot to just let your worries wash away. It is a place to let your hair down and not worry about the little things, just sit and read a good book by the lake or take in a good nap that is probably long over do! We will be booking for years to come and we look forward to the new memories with our...
