All of the staff were very hospitable, attentive, down to earth. From the lodge to the marina, my whole family felt welcome and really cared for. Rooms were clean and nice. Pool was not too crowded. My kids enjoyed the kiddie pool (had a bit much of the blue paint peeling off the bottom of the pool and floating in the pool with the bugs, but not a deal breaker. My kids enjoyed it). Only 2 drawbacks: 1-The hotel game room needs a make over, everything's (Foosball and pool tables and shuffle board) broken and not working correctly. I've heard great things about the restaurant but due to low staffing since COVID, it's only open on weekends and for reservation only, so I didn't get to experience that. 2- the room keys frequently don't work for the outside rooms. Sometimes it works, someone's it takes a few tries so that's a bit annoying. But I mean really, the way people treated us, I felt like we were at a 5 star resort, so that more than makes up for the cons I mentioned. Hopefully when they're able to get more staff, they'll be able to address the things I noticed. Paddle boats and pontoons were in good condition, worked perfectly, and were affordable. The pretty green lake was void of trash which was beautiful to see with the wonderful scenario of the trees and blue sky. So beautiful! Playgrounds were good, not crowded, grills were great for our needs. Bathroom by playground and gazebos were surprisingly clean and pleasant. Gazebos had plenty of tables. Won't hesitate to return again. Looking forward to it!

For those seeking great fried catfish and fried green tomatoes, this is worth the drive. Hours and days open vary call ahead to assure that it’s open. A beautiful drive down winding country roads to reach your destination. You can attend a conference, go fishing, stay at the lodge, get a meal, visit the gift shop, or relax in the spacious lobby while someone plays their piano. The restaurant has lake views if you arrive early. The staff are friendly and courteous. Highly recommend. We are repeat customers, making this a routine stop with friends and family when we come from out of state for a visit. If you aren’t in the mood for catfish, their burgers and BLTs are great!

We came to spend two nights (Friday and Saturday) in July 2021 during Covid. Room was clean and satisfactory but even though it was no-smoking room, I smelled cigarette or musty smell (but I am over sensitive). We did not eat any meal at hotel restaurant since I have a special diet need. We brought our own cooler to the room with bread, ham and cheese, beer etc and used hotel's free ice to cool them. There are two small grocery stores (3 miles out from the Park) called Brown Grocery and Tackett Grocery and Pizza on route 1. We bought fried chicken at Brown Grocery (was pretty good). Hotel staffs were kind, and particularly people at the marina were so kind. We rented pontoon for 4 hours ($100), (or 8 hours for $165 but we did not). they say all lakes in KY are not allowed to swim nor dip, but we fished from pontoon (mostly bluegill) and Lake is fairly small with all idle drive within 4 hours, but very quiet, beautiful, and worth experiencing!. (One day fishing license in KY by online cost $15.) We only rented the pontoon, buy it was only us on the lake, so we felt like we rented a whole lake for us (Friday early morning from 8 am). ah, I should also mention that my ATnT cellphone worked on the entire lake. By evening, the parking lot got crowded at hotel lodge, so We are watching Tokyo Olympic in the room now. Anyway, if you are interested in Low-key, secret gate-away, this is the place. I would like to come back during fall to see colors of tree. It is a beautiful place. (If you are not detail complainer, you would...

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend. The place is out in the middle of nowhere, but the lodge is nice enough. Rooms were clean, but you can hear everything going on around you...people talking, walking, closing doors, etc., so bring earplugs if you want to sleep in. Front office and cleaning staff are very nice. Game room is pathetic. The issue with this place is the restaurant. The rooms do not have a fridge or microwave, so you are at their mercy, as town is 15 miles away. After waiting forever to be seated, the hostess appeared and announced to us and the other party of 8 waiting to be seated, "The waitress sucks, so be prepared." Okay, thanks for the warning. The food was decent, but the staff complained about everything, both to each other and to us. They close at 8:00 p.m., and a poor couple was waiting to be seated at 7:45. The hostess, with her purse already over her shoulder, told them that she was sorry, but they were getting ready to close. I felt so sorry for them because I knew there were NO other options for dinner. Sunday we went down for their advertised "brunch." The food wasn't out yet, so I asked if there would be breakfast food, and was told definitely not, so I ordered a burger from the menu. When the food was put out, there were plenty of breakfast items, but it was too late since I'd ordered a burger based on what I was told. I complained, and they just shrugged their shoulders. Bottom line, they need staff who care about...
