-This was my first visit to this very large, and busy campground. It was a beautiful state park with many trails and waterways and much more to do then camp!. Despite the campsites being fairly small and close together, I found a spot backed up to a forested area, providing a nice space to take my dogs exploring. I opted for the east side farthest away from the dunes and ATVs, but enjoyed driving to the dunes to watch them roar by. There is also a great birding area on the drive out to the south jetty and numerous access points directly to the beach. -The day-use area was a pleasant surprise, offering a lodge-type gathering building and outdoor patio with picnic tables right on the lake. There was also a fishing dock, kayak and boat rentals, swimming area, and sand board rentals. Something for everybody! While the proximity to Highway 101 and lack of privacy were drawbacks, the overall atmosphere of the campground was enjoyable, with a summer camp-like vibe that would be perfect for a family or group visit. I also appreciated the amenities of Oregon State Campgrounds as they are usually very well kept, have firewood available and have large bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. -Despite the sometimes cramped sites and flurry of activity, I found the experience to be a fun change from my typical quiet nature get-a-way and I look forward to bringing my grandkids next time to do more then just camp!

Situated half way up the Oregon coast and three miles south of Florence on scenic Highway 101 is the second largest overnight camp in the state. There are two miles of sand dunes between the park and the ocean. Two natural freshwater lakes are within the park. Cleawox -- which is great for swimming -- and Woahink, which has a public boat ramp, is used for all water sports. Rent a canoe and explore the lake. During Discovery Season (October 1 to April 30 every year), you can access the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area directly from your campsite in H loop of the campground. Reservations are recommended for winter holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Spring brings out the pink rhododendrons. Come summertime, this is a great place for family reunions. The fall huckleberries and blackberries are ripe for the picking. During the winter, off-road vehicle users can access the sand dunes from H Loop. This a camp for all seasons.

If you really enjoy the sound of leaf blowers for 9 hours a day, this is the place for you! Thankfully the forest is 89% Conifer so there aren't even leaves anywhere, not on the ground, not on the cement, and not even on the trees!! There is also about 8% grass cover in the campground too, but don't worry, they monitor the length of the grass daily and keep it at a nice 1.5 inches, also 8 hours a day. Oh, and if you get here after 6pm, be sure to stop at the stop sign to check in and not the "information" board that proports to go give you the necessary tools to guide you, but only has a sign that shows an unmarked map. If you get confused driving around, that is because the One Way arrows point in both directions on a majority of the intersections, and there are labels such as "A...B Loop," so don't feel alone if you get a bit turned around attempting to navigate the grounds, particularly under the shroud of darkness. If you're wondering if the campsite you're looking at is a Tent site, or a hookup site, just get out and look because there is no indication of such on the site numbers, or the map for that matter. Showers aren't bad though!! No temperature control, but they do get a comfortably hot degree, just right in fact. As good a campground shower as any other run of the mill campground! And the State Parks Ranger was very nice and personable. Volunteers I can't really say other than they very much so enjoy their lawn tools, they seem partial to the extremely loud ones that you can hear on the opposite side of this 180+ site ground! And the raccoons, although downright adorable, are quite acclimated to humans! They will become more and more brave as the evening closes in and the best thing to get them to stay away for me was to flash my umbrella open toward them, that actually seemed the only thing that kept them at bay. But, they're...

Racist and rude!!

While checking in, Monica the assistant was rude and disrespectful. This was our first time here, checking in 3 campsites and 6 cars. Monica became distressed about the line forming and began to take it out on us. After speaking fluent English to her for about 5 minutes, she began to argue with me when I had repeated my car plates multiple times about the line forming. Then told me to “wait, gracias” in a rude and disrespectful tone. Due to her tone, impatience and the unfriendly character, this was a racist attack. After I mentioned I didn’t appreciate her tone or her assuming I speak another language she told me I was offended with no valid reason. She proceeded to speak with another member, regarding me as I wasn’t there. I then said she could address me directly, to which she lost it and sent us to the back of the line to check in our last site. Telling everyone I was offended and would not be serving us anymore if I was there. My family and I dislike confrontation so we decide to do as she said. I called Ryan the manager multiple times to report it, and no response or follow up.

My party of 21 people spent hundreds of dollars to book these sites to be treated this way by Monica. Booked sites 127,129, & 130 Thursday-Monday. All 21 members decided to leave by Sunday. We will never book with this campsite again due to this incident. Besides the racist customer service, the area was clean and overall a great and a...

Harrased by the rangers for listening to my music. They forbid any electronics after 10pm and I had the luxury of my only neighbor putting their tents right up against my kitchen and they had the nerve to complain about me using my camp stove to heat up hand washing water and for blowing up my air mattress on night one. Night two the rangers came all the way into my camp site just to check and see if I was listening to my music, mean while the site across from me showed just before 10pm and made so much commotion setting up their site until after 12am and the rangers said nothing while promptly harassing me in my site while by the fire being quiet. I had the luxury of kids screaming across the loop and others finding it to a be a beautiful night to conversate loudly while riding their bikes passed my camp site down the road and back. Im not allowed to listen to music but I have to listen to a lot of others make louder noises than I ever did my whole camping trip. Will not ever stay here again and will not recommend to anyone I know either.

If your bed time isnt 10pm or earlier or you like to chat with the people your camping with after 10pm or listen to music at a whisper, than this camp ground isnt for you but if your a child who loves to scream or if you have atv's and stay in H or F then this site is for you because rules dont apply to those select campers.

Sites D170 and D172 are the best in...
