Mercer Lake is a quaint little lake just a few minutes from the beach. Most cabins are right on the lake so you can drink your morning coffee on your deck and watch the sun come up on the lake.
The cabins were small but cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The "sofa" sleeper was a very basic futon and I would not have found it comfortable but my teenager who can sleep anywhere did not seem to mind it. The two bedrooms slept the rest of us just fine.
There is only 1 shower stall in the public womems bathroom and it's a glass door so not the most private so I'd recommend a cabin with a shower if that detail would matter to you.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the little camp store has snacks, drinks, and beer for sale at reasonable prices for a camp store.
The lake itself has a fun water trampoline obstacle course, dock, and swimming area. There is also a small communal hot tub right near by. Lots of stuff for the kids to do. Pet friendly, our dogs had a great time.
Pontoon rental was super fun too!
I'd consider this a more rustic feel than luxury and I could see some areas in need of updating but it worked great for our family and kids during the off season as it was not crowded then and the owners appeared to be working on many projects at the place to keep improving it.
I could see the small beach area getting pretty crowded during summer. April / May and Sept /October would probably be great months to visit to still be able to swim and not have a crowd. It was very peaceful during April and warm enough to swim on a sunny day. The only sounds we heard at night were frogs.
It's worth a quick stop at the Darlingtonia state park to see the carnivorous plants, 2 minute drive from the lake and a 2 minute paved walk to see them!
Florence also has great dunes and beaches and the Heceta head Lighthouse and Sea Lion caves are also a quick drive as well so lots to do...
Read moreTo start, the lake itself is one of the most hidden gems in Oregon. Myself and family have been coming here for years and truly am saddened by the original owners selling of Mercer Lake Resort. The folks that cared for this facility, along with caring for many , many families through the years, were top notch and great with kids.. Skip now to the world we live in.... one of entitlement and egos. Rob, now the owner, apparently wants to dictate who and what happens on this lake. After enjoying a great start of the day apparently our wake ( outside the no wake zone) was causing problems for the resort ( Keep in mind our family is a 3rd generation of boaters, always willing to help or listen to competent boating folks). Rob decided to fly wide open, full speed ahead, on his jet ski, aiming straight for my daughter, who was in the water, and banking on the fact his mechanics of said jet ski would stop. Myself, being an experienced, lifelong boater, moved the boat tight to my daughter for protection. Once Rob mouthed off, I quickly let him know, his actions would not be tolerated and are completely negligent to boaters safety. This ended our discussion quickly. Following day as we pull in to the resort for fuel, which apparently is allowed to all renters and home owners on the lake, with cash in hand, our little dictator decided no fuel. My family and myself is very saddened by the lack of professionalism, and little egos this free world has created. Rob, owner of the resort, you need to check up your ego, as you never know who is around to help stimulate your resort economy, or take it away. Think outside your little...

Stayed in cabin 5 for my daughter's birthday party. It does share a wall with cabin 6. This is a cabin after all not a fancy spa hotel. This is for kids to have fun and adults too. Everyone can come and go without a bunch of cameras or management infringement on your activities. If you want that kind of oversight then stay somewhere else. The cabins have been there a long time so yes there is uneven flooring and some doors you pull shut to close. This adds to the charm and supports the laid back summer cabin, come as you are vibe. So chill and so much fun. Takes the stress away from worrying about picking up and cleaning all the time when on vacation. I loved the updates they are working on in the cabins. Lovely butcher block counters, stone sink, gas stove and yes a dish washer! Oh and the beds are sooooo comfortable! I slept wonderfully both nights. I recently stayed at a new hotel and slept horribly there on hard, terrible mattresses. I can't believe how comfortable the cabin mattresses were. After all these are old cabins that have been here for years. Yet they ensure creature comforts are good. New paneling throughout and new kitchen. Treagers on each cabin deck. So amazing to BBQ easily and take in the beautiful view. Come on down if you want a cool, laid back, camping experience at a great place. By the way dogs are...
